So granted I went to Erie for the first time on New Years Eve, so I understand that it is not a fair assessment of a restaurant, but here are my thoughts. The waiter was nice and took our drink orders right away and then came back to take our dinner orders-he wasn't pushy either trying to add on a bunch of things. I ordered a petite filet, which was cooked medium rare as I requested but had not much flavor. I feel like they did put any salt or pepper or anything on it. My fiance ordered his steak medium rare as well and his came out medium-barely any pink. He did not send it back or make a comment and rather just ate it. We ordered asparagus as a side and it was tasty. My fiance then ordered a second glass of wine and I ordered a coffee-my coffee never came. Then our waiter disappeared. When he finally returned he came back with a piece of their key lime pie, set it on our table without saying a word and walked away. We had no idea if we put this on the wrong table or anything-we did not order it. We ate it and it was delicious, but it would have been nice to know why we received it. He finally came back and gave us our check. Overall, it wasn't a horrible experience but I am not in a hurry to go back.

great food as always our server Jorge was attentive.. but after 8P with the new crowd he had many tables to attend. We order the special Mahi Mahi and the Ribeye.. great food. They sat us on the back room which was fine on the noise but the table was next to a fake wood wall. Not very impressed.

We had a wonderful pre-Hamilton dinner at the Erie Cafe. The service was attentive without hovering; and the staff was very considerate of our time requirements. The atmosphere was cozy, warm and inviting, and the food delicious. Would highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back!

My girlfriend and I are big fans of Erie Cafe, we have been here a handful of times now, I have it as one of my favorite spots on the open table app. Big fans of how casual the atmosphere is. The service was lacking a bit, two separate waiters approached us, the second much better than the first. Given the price of the food, it was sub par. Definitely recommend on the basis that our previous visits have been phenomenal.

Nice local restaurant w good food and service. Extensive menu with daily specials. Public parking is an issue as closet garages are over 2 blocks away, but they offer complimentary parking.

Classic Chicago steakhouse with Italian specialties too. Baked clams starter is delicious. Steaks ans chops are high quality and cooked perfectly as ordered. All the entrees come with an iceberg lettuce salad (you should upgrade to Caesar) and cottage fries. Other sides are ala carte and creamed spinach stands out. Tiramisu is good and feeds four people. Very good pour on the cocktails. Service is old school professional and attentive. The dining room can get pretty loud. If you need it more quiet, ask for the front room. It's a hefty dinner bill, but worth it.

I have known of the Erie Street Cafe for years and finally made it there for a family dinner. All of our out of town guests were very impressed with the homey atmosphere and service. Kudos to Baz and Jose. The restaurant was filling quickly, yet we could converse easily. The table ordered a great variety from the Menu and all were happy with their selection. The lamb chops were a bit fatty but great flavor and large serving. Steaks and Chops were very good. We will return again and will recommend this place to friends.

While the patio is wonderful for warmer weather, the restaurant itself is a bit drab and during the winter (especially in Chicago) the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. The pasta was good (very solid cheese ravioli), but the filet was mediocre at best. When you compare it to other steaks you get for the price in Chicago, there are probably 30-40 other restaurants I would choose before dining here.

I ate here once before with a client. Really enjoyed the food. Had to come back for a quick bite with my girlfriend. I’m a classic filet, potato’s, and vegetable kind of person. The steaks are thick, so don’t be upset if you have to send it back to cook a little more. My lady had the ravioli with vodka sauce. Definitely get the key lime pie. Carlos is the man, you’ll be taken care of if you have the pleasure to get him as a server. Both times I’ve had him and both times I’ve felt very welcomed. Thanks Erie Cafe for dinner.

Great neighborhood steakhouse ambiance. Love the bar. Service could not have been better. Salad and vegetable good but steak on the bland side - needed more seasoning and flavor. Will try again and order some of the Italian items next time.
