Great service, great location. Outside dining is the best! Always happy to return.
Me and my friend ended up getting the veal, it wasn’t that great of quality. Would never order again.
Arrived on time, for a reservation for my daughter's birthday. The host did not ask my name for the reservation and took us directly to a back room. In my reservation I had asked for a booth and indicated it was a celebration for my daughter's birthday. We were taken to the back room, to a table where there was one other big party. A serving asst brought us water and 4 butters in a dish. Then no one approached our table for over 15 minutes. We saw another table of 2 get seated, have a waiter come over and get their drinks & bring bread. We watched the larger party get a waiter and get drinks and bread. We finally asked a serving asst if someone was going to wait on us. He wasn't sure who to get. Finally, after about 25 minutes, a waiter came over, who seemed annoyed. He dropped 3 menus on the table, no apology, nothing, and said he would be back. We decided to leave. I walked out ahead of my mother and daughter so that I could pull the car up. There was no host up front to speak with. My mother & daughter walked out after I did and no one even acknowledged them. Unacceptable.
Service and food were excellent. We sat outside on the patio and when it started raining, our server brought an umbrella and heater over - it was perfect. Hadn’t been to Erie Cafe in a while and will go back soon.
I love going to Erie Cafe for Prime Rib. I specifically put in the notes of my reservation to hold at least one of order of Prime Rib. The server told us they don't read the notes and to call next time. Why put a notes portion on your reservation if they are going to be ignored? We arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation and were told they were already out of Prime Rib. This is not the first time this has happened and it's extremely disappointing. Next time, I will walk out and spend my $500 elsewhere.
I was celebrating my 42nd birthday.
Everything about the experience was amazing!
The wait staff was very attentive and professional!
Calves liver was very tasty but bacon was way over cooked. Dry and hard to chew. Woud never order it again.
The staff and in particular our server Jose were fantastic. Truly a gem of a restaurant. We will definitely be coming back
Always a wonderful dining experience. Traditional Italian/steakhouse with a excellent bar area for before and after dinner.
The service and food was great. Highly recommended.
My wife recently had serious surgery, so much so that the has been on a feeding tube for 5 months. She was recently given permission to start eating again and this merited a serious celebration. I immediately choose the Erie Cafe in light of the many good meals we have enjoyed there over the years. Covid has suppressed the crowds temporarily, but the food and service is still outstanding.
Great service and a lot of food!
As usual we enjoyed the meal very much
Comfortable atmosphere. The Linguine w/ clams in white wine wasn't that good - it was soggy for some reason. Attentive service.
The service ,food ,ambiance were super..we started outside, was too windy and moved inside with no disruption of service..
Great to sit on their patio and enjoy grilled calamari and chicken Parma. Love this place.
A classic Chicago staple and one of my favorites! Martin is the best!
Staff service and the Bacon was amazing
Great experience all the way around!!
Ate outside at sundown and it was lovely. Generous portions
My favorite neighborhood place feels like home. Great service and consistently reliable food. The outdoor patio is a perfect Eden, over the River, COVID compliant, and totally relaxing. Have been here dozens and dozens of times.
Good neighborhood spot.
As long time fans of Erie Cafe, we were disappointed with this outing. We were celebrating an anniversary and made a reservation. We waited at the front for five minutes where no host was present. Finally, we asked a waiter to seat us. He was in a bad mood. The food was okay, not as good as usual. No note of our anniversary was made. Maybe it was an off night, but we won't be back soon.
Wonderful food - a neighborhood gem. Good outdoor seating options. Friendly staff and the food is excellent.
Always love Erie! Outdoor patios is one of the best in the city!
An extraordinarily pleasant outdoor dining experience.
Husbands 65th birthday! Food was great and being outside on a beautiful day was perfect. I had veal limone and it was tender and not overly sour. My husband had veal parm and loved it. Their potatoes are amazing. We’ve been going for over 15 years! Never a disappointment. Our server was great!
I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! Amazing food with so much flavor! Service was great, we had Joselito and he was very attentive. He made good suggestions-which were greatly appreciated. Felt safe and distanced from other parties/tables. I would highly recommend the grilled calamari-the sauce is decadent! They don’t skimp out on the seafood in the frutti di mare either.
Had a 7p reservation. Arrived at 6:55p and was told we would need to wait an hour for a table. Terrible service. Terrible experience.
Went there during the week and ate inside so it was pretty quiet.
But the food and service were outstanding. Great calamari- nice and crisp and tender inside. Sausage and peppers were also good as an appetizers. Steak was cooked perfectly. And service was top notch. Highly recommend!
Food was mediocre for the price point . Flies were everywhere . Bread was cold and hard
Hands down, this is my favorite place in Chicago.
We were celebrating a birthday and for the # of times we've been to Erie Cafe, the meal and service did not disappoint. We were thoroughly pleased.
We had a lovely dinner outside. The tables in the parking lot were well spaced & it was a beautiful night weather wise as well. The food was delicious & we weren’t rushed out. It’s some semblance of normalcy during this strange time of Covid. Thanks Erie Cafe!
All was very well done but the price was astronomical
great dinner really enjoyed the ambiance and the atmosphere
Host was not nice
We all enjoyed everything about Erie Cafe. The onion rings are the best I’ve ever had!
Favorite ribeye in the city! Service is what I’ve come to expect from Erie Cafe curt and direct. Was looking forward to sitting on the patio, but we didn’t get there early enough.
They do not follow COVID guidelines, as people were just standing between tables socializing. Our waiter’s mask was below his nose the whole time and lots of close contact -like right on top of us- when delivering or taking away food. The food experience was similar...subpar for the cost. It’s a chopped salad for $20...there just veggies no need to sparsely toss.
We’re trying to support Chicago restaurants at min, follow the pandemic guidelines.
