Our gorgeous outdoor dining patio offers views of the Chicago River and southern skyline. This outdoor dining is open for lunch and dinner from March 1st through the end of November, weather permitting.
One of Chicago's hidden gems, this River North establishment is a great date spot, pace for entertaining customers or just a family night out. My friend Meghan and I sat at the bar and ordered a great bottle of wine and dinner as we watched the Wisconsin game on TV. The food was fantastic - I went basic Bobby and ordered the lasagna which was knee-buckling good, while Meghan went with an equally impressive and tasty chicken and potatoes dish with a large salad! We will be back!
Loudness of noise ruined whole dining experience!
Service was fantastic as always. Food was very good and so was the wine.
Never disappoints! Was sad to see Carlos wasn't there this year because we've been going for 15+ years and have seen him each time. Service and food was still great! The Grilled calamari isn't a fave, too chewy but everything else is delicious!
the food and service was excellent as usual !
Our pre game dining spot before Blackhawks game always
Wait staff was excellent, as was the food. No waiting for our table. Chicken parm was a very large delicious portion. Garbage salad was just as I remembered with many different veggies and two jumbo shrimp on top; beautiful! The steaks were fork tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. There is nothing I would change about our dining experience at Erie Café!
I ordered the chicken vesuvio. It came in a pool of oil so the potatoes were soaked in oil. Despite the huge amount of oil the chicken was extremely dry. Very disappointing.
First time at Erie Cafe. Service was terrible in terms of our server. He was rude and seemed upset when we told him we were ready to order. Our buss boys and food runners were quite friendly and attentive. Our server didn’t even bring our check.
The chicken visuvio was so greasy and had about 85% potatoes. The rest of the food was okay. Will not be back for a second meal nor drink.
I’ve eaten at Erie Cafe probably a dozen times. It’s by far and away my favorite restaurant in the city. Even with a 7pm reservation and a hold on prime rib, but due to crowding and tables/customers optimization, we weren’t seated until 7:50pm. My prime rib was overdone. Disappointing, but it won’t stop us from eating there again in the future.
Overall the food, service, location and lack of tourists keeps Erie Cafe a 4-5 star experience for me. I’ve brought family, friends and business associates to dinner here and will continue to do so in the future.
Great service and food!
Outstanding food and ambiance. Free valet parking, a REAL PLUS!
We came from the suburbs and you can get off the expressway and head right there without a lot of traffic.
Always great and reliable. Perfect service.
Erie Cafe was recommended to us by a editor of a meat magazine that lives in Chicago and said that it was the best place for steak. Well not true. There was 8 of us and 4 of us had steak. 3 had the filet and they were very tender but no seasoning. The Sea Bass, Shrimp & the Veal Chop was very good.My NY Strip was terrible. No seasoning and it was the worst cut I have seen. Fatty and lots of gristle. When I asked for sea salt or Kosher salt they didn't even know what it was. The service was also the worst. Didn't give everyone menus when we sat down. Had to ask for it. When we got our food the server never came over to see how it was. I told the busboy that my steak was terrible and he didn't even speak English. The Mgr walked by and I flagged him down and told him of the problems and he really didn't care. Did bring us dessert to try and make up for it. Didn't work. Would not recommend or ever go back to Erie Cafe!
Great food and service! Love the ambiance as well.
Great food and great service
Classy but unpretentious. Everything one could ask for in a steakhouse.
While I liked the ambiance and the service, I thought the price was too expensive for the amount of food we got. I felt like I needed to go eat again after dinner.
Entertained 13 people. Fantastic time. Everyone was impressed by the food, atmosphere and service. In town for a convention. Over 5 days in Chicago, dining at many great venues, this was the highlight.
I always go to the Erie Cafe when visiting Chicago. Best steaks and service. A true Chicago restaurant.
This is a terrific venue. One of Chicago's best classic "old school" restaurants. Excellent service with hearty food at reasonable prices. You will not be disappointed!
Our table was too close to the table next to us...consequently, our waiter kept knocking me throughout the entire evening, which was very annoying.
Otherwise, we will return, just smarter where I will sit.
I hosted a business dinner. It was terrific. Great wine list. Terrific food and service. The ambiance was perfect for good conversation. Try to Grilled Calamari, Sausage and Peppers -- and anything off the menu. You will not be disappointed.
Great find. The service was great. The food is off the charts. I highly recommend the Grilled Calamari, Sausage and Peppers, Garbage Salad. Can’t go wrong with the steak, veal, seafood or pasta!
Very nice to sit outside! food pretty good(chicken with peppers too peppery but my bf loved his steak...)waiter brought an UN-asked for extra glass of wine to him..when my boyfriend was surprised, the waiter said it was “on him” but I was still charged for it....not ok with that
Love Erie Cafe. Always excellent. Only down mark here was that the restaurant was busy and the waiter wasn’t paying attention so put a steak knife directly in front of my 1.5 year old (who promptly grabbed the blade). Unpeeled her fingers and no harm no foul but should probably pay a bit more attention to small children in high chairs
Patio was gorgeous. Servers were attentive. Steak over cooked, lobster fra diavolo had over cooked lobster and watery sauce.
Friday night out
Good for business lunch in area. Good food, good ambience. Would recommend
Consistently great food and exceptional service.
Surprisingly good. Patio looks wonderful.
It has great food and wonderful service. Very friendly and helpful staff. It's has a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. I took my whole family there, eight of us, and everyone loved it!
Really mediocre food and drab decor
Beautiful patio but surrounded by tables of cigar smokers and dogs (wish I had been told in advance so I could’ve just gone somewhere else). Food mediocre, staff surly and stand-offish.
Food is always great. Excellent service. Great choice
Kitchen stressed. Medium rare steak came well done after long wait
Very good. Very consistent. Very reliable establishment.
Celebrating a birthday.
The service and attention that we received was lmpeccable. The food, outstanding, as usual and the ambiance perfect. Not too noisy and in all a very pleasant occasion.
Martin is the best! Always feel like family when I am there.
Loved the park setting / felt the patio was dirty and had to ask a server to set a table clot for dinner service. Food was delicious!
