The food was great and the service was outstanding. It was my son’s birthday and he is a UH student, so we did this for convenience. But, this turned out to be the best choice.
We were seated quickly and everything we ordered was very tasty. We will return.
This is a nice restaurant on the campus of the University of Houston. We went for lunch as we were on campus for a conference. Overall it was a good experience. When we first arrived they sat us at a tall table and one of our party was not able to get onto the high chair due to physical limitations. They were able to move us but it was to a table right by the kitchen. The service was adequate and the food was good. I would definitely eat there again if I find myself at UH. It is certainly a welcome respite from the more student centered food found elsewhere on campus. It is a little pricy, but not excessively so.
I always enjoy going to Eric's for lunch with colleagues. The menu has been pared down recently, but there are still a lot of good choices and the food is uniformly good. The service is very good, and it's easy to make reservations on line or over the phone.
Great place to eat before an event at the University of Houston Cullen Performance Hall, right next door.
Very nice, great service. Food was good, not exceptional.
Top ten worst service in Houston says it all.
Waited 30 minutes, no waiter. Called from my cell phone to the hostess desk to tell them I need to order my food and drink.
Told them how I wanted my salmon cooked, I received it after some more waiting completely overcooked and sent it back for redo.
Once I received my food and meal was over, I had to wait another 20 minutes to flag someone down to ask for a refill on my drink and my check. Waited another 25 minutes and waiter did not even come back. I had to call again and this time the bar staff picked up the phone. Had to tell them I’m in their restaurant for them to bring my check and refill my drink.
Zero stars.
Not sure why the restaurant was understaffed when the management should have known about a large event at the Cullen Performance Hall? Food was good but very frustrating service.
Food was okay. Service was okay. The restaurant is nice!
Restaurant was full of lecture attendees and understaffed on a busy night. They did the best they could.
Also new parking policy of $15, with a discount for diners.
Not customer friendly.
They made a very avoidable mistake: they served me a cold espresso.
I think the evening menu is new because my husband and I had entrees we had never tried before. I was amazed by the Posti and had to look it up on the internet. The pastry that it was served with was wonderful and I have bragged to all of my lunch friends about how good it was. The egg on top was the kicker! My husband at the WHOLE Cougar burger and I loved his French fries. Well done!
I miss the club sandwiches or the soup and sandwich choices, but the fish taco was excellent (just more expensive than my sandwiches).
We requested a small personal cake for a birthday occasion, but the cake wasn't out near the end when we almost finished our food. I had to personally follow up with the server and ask her to take our the cake. The cake was late and had our table in a awkward ending.
Eric’s has changed their menu and it’s not as near as good as it used to be. The prices have increased and the choices have decreased.
We enjoyed our dinner at Eric’s before a show. Convenient to the venue and excellent food and service.
Not sure I would order the falafel again...it is way off the mark.
Eric's has an updated menu with far fewer lunch items that are reasonably priced. There isn't an express menu and fewer salad options. Disappointed in new menu; not sure if the price is worth making this a lunch time spot.
Eric's is our go-to favorite when we are in the U of H area!
Service and food were very good. Coffee was excellent.
Very good lunch to welcome our new staff Psychiatrist, Dr. Jon Rusciano.
Would love to enjoy the shrimp and sausage gumbo again.
Please include more variety of vegetarian/vegan options in your menu. The quinoa salad is terrible, and there is not other alternatives in the carte. I have complained about this issue before, and I don't go to Eric's anymore because the menu is terrible. the service is great, but it does not compensate for a poor meal.
Weekend menu is very weird and food was not that great. Service was also a bit off. Give a lot of wiggle room as many of the staff are students and new to working in hospitality.
Very good food! Top notch service and ambiance.
salmon was very dry and soup was cold. bread was stale. worst meal we have ever had there
Really poor service. Our waiter seemed like he was new on the job, overworked or just didn’t care.
Food was so so. Good location newer the Cullen Performance Hall though.
The service was very good and the personnel did a good job of working with us.
Great and friendly service. Handled our table of 7 without issue. We got there 30 minutes before our reservation and they sat us right away. Definitely make a reservation if you’re planning on dining with a larger group around noon on Friday. They get busy!
Eric's met our expectations and provided a good experience for our candidate for a faculty position.
The service and food are very good.
Maria is excellent
I always enjoy lunch at Eric's - great staff and food.
Eric's was chosen as the place to celebrate my birthday. The food was good but a bit expensive and a bit pedestrian. The service was OK. It was my birthday and I mentioned this on the reservation, but no mention was made by the staff. The house red wine (Storypoint Cabernet) was very good. After trying to get the attention of the waitress two times as she took orders from another table nearby, I had to go to the bar to ask for another glass of wine. I might have had a third glass if asked. With only about four occupied tables in the restaurant, this should not have been necessary. The little metal stand holding the reserved card had dried food on it, as did the salt and pepper shakers. The sauce recommended by the waitress to be paired with my steak was not available, though the chimichurri sauce was good. The flatir
on steak was good, as was the salmon and swordfish The presentation of the food was nothing special. A bit of garnish or something to add color to the plate would have been appreciated. Instead, i got a steak on a plate and two metal bowls with the two vegetable choices. Overall, I was expecting a more exceptional dining experience from a place where students come to learn to operate hotels and restaurants and showcase their skills. I'm nitpicking, but this should be a flagship Hilton and UH experience. I've done a fair amount of business travel. With a final bill in excess of $160 for four people, I have a lot of other dining options in Houston.
Lacking in few details but overall okay. Being the only decent place around the area, one has little choice.
A couple of us met at Eric's to plan her wedding shower invitations over lunch. Service was great - friendly and professional, and food was great, as always. Love the Chicken Aioli!
We eat here pretty often and consider it our "hidden gem" on campus. Today the service was attentive and the kitchen was fast. My grilled salmon was perfect and the Cobb salad was too big for my husband to finish. We shared a piece of chocolate cake and wished we'd each gotten a whole piece. Yummy!
Great place for meetings.
I eat at Eric's all the time. Yesterday was a miss. We entered an empty restaurant, were seated, and then told we needed to move because that table was reserved. The wrong food arrived. When the bill was presented, it was incorrect. Our experience yesterday was a hot mess.
Our apologies for the miss, Bossgirl123. Give us the opportunity to make it right. Thank you also for being a loyal customer,
The restaurant is ok. My biggest compliant is the oil that is sitting out open on the table. There are too many nasty people in the world. I understand its to save time but it's not a good idea.
Good spot if you are going to UH events. Friendly staff. Limited menu, but well prepared for.
