Dining room was nearly empty. Wine list was overpriced. My flank steak didn’t have a steak like texture. I didn’t enjoy it. Mushrooms had little flavor. Today my stomach is upset.
El servicio ha sido excelente, tienen dress code por lo que hay que ir arreglado para la ocasión, en cuanto a los entrantes y comida ha estado todo delicioso, lo único que podrían mejorar son los postres.
I took my wife there for her birthday. The meal was great... the service was first class (impeccable) and the setting was absolutely beautiful... great for special occasions.
Absolutely fantastic surroundings. The overall experience is wonderful/ from reception to service to food. Elegant environment, really good for anyone celebrating any special occasion. Also really good to go every week.
We went for my husbands birthday with fond memories from 5 years ago. Our reservation was for 8 pm we ordered drinks at 8:30 pm but were not served dinner until 9:45 pm! We begged for another roll since we were starving and had to wait 30 mins for one more roll. We received a lot of friendly wait staff who apologized for the delays but No Food! We were tempted to leave but thought it would get better. The food was not fresh the fish very fishy and greasy and the duck was very tough. They apologized again and gave us free dessert and covered the drinks. Never going back
Food was great. Overpriced. To many people serving you at dinner. You can cut back on staff and reduce price.
Stuffy atmosphere. The attention was great. The view was amazing. The food Was lacking. The chicken was dry and the whipped potatoes were almost liquid... which I wouldn’t have minded if the taste had been amazing, but it wasn’t even appealing. The only parts of our meal that were done well weren’t impressive for the price we paid. Way overpriced. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
We sat in a small dining room with the largest table was only 4. It was like being in a house rather then a large restaurant. The service was very good and they were attentive. It was very pricy, so you may want to save this place for a special occasion.
Food was ok. Atmosphere was great
Castle was amazing
Beautiful place. Good service. Food was tasty but meager for the price. I ordered from the regular sized lunch plates (they had small plates, too) and it was 3 small scallops, a tiny piece of zucchini and 9 sunflower seeds. I counted them. For $25! Disgraceful!
The food was exceptional, but seemed to be a bit overpriced. We found this restaurant at the last minute on Open Table while we were traveling in the area, so we just ran over in nice, but casual clothes. Since we were not in dresses and jackets, they had us sit in the bar area. We actually enjoyed that part quite a bit as we had a quiet, private area to ourselves! The service was super slow, though.
Wonderful meal to end a wonderful day, to celebrate my engagement to my girlfriend. Good and service was excellent, you will spend a lot of money to find here, but it is well worth the cost.
Beautiful place with very nice views. Staff was very friendly But are not trained professionals.
We dined here for both breakfast & dinner on my birthday. For breakfast we sat in the garden room. The view was very nice, a look to the garden outside and the fall color on the leaves, and the hudson river off in the distance. At dinner time we dined in front of the stone fireplace in the Oak Room great old world setting. The food at breakfast was great we had the choice of the buffet or ordering from the menu. Dinner was also very tasty we ordered a bottle of wine along with the wedge salad, wagyu nigiri, scallop appetizer, & filet mignon. I highly recommend dining here if you get the chance, lots of history & character!
Beautiful venue. Awesome view of the Hudson and great food.
Food and service were outstanding. Great attention to detail ! Presentation of each course was pleasing to the eyes!
Waiter was not up to par. Food was not what I Hope very bland. Overall experience was disappointing
We went to Equus on a Saturday night to celebrate my husband's birthday, we were a party of four. We were promptly seated and a lovely table and were tended to as welcomed guests. The menu was full of mouth-watering offerings which made it difficult to choose. Our food was presented beautifully and was absolutely amazing to taste. We had a fantastic time and will absolutely be back! Oooh... and do not skip dessert, it is worth every calorie!
We came here to celebrate my mother and father-in-law's 50th anniversary because we wanted something extra special and we were not disappointed!!!!! The food, ambience, and service was all top-notch! They went out of their way to treat us to special things from the beginning "amuse bouche" for everyone at the tabe,to the complimentary extra dessert for the table, the plate with two special extra sweets for the anniversary couple, and complimentary after dinner port with dessert for the anniversary pair. When I first made the reservations on open table over a month prior I asked to be seated in the most castle-ish area they had. After they seated us and brought us baskets to put our purses in and took our drink order, Damien came over to me and asked if this table was castle-ish enough. The fact that he used my own word back to me showed me he read my request and took it to heart trying to make everything exactly the way we wanted. Roberto (I think that was his name) was an outstanding server always knowing what we wanted before we even asked for it. The food was among the very best I've ever had at a restaurant. I've been to a pretty good number of great restaurants but honestly the only one I was ever at that was comparable to this experience was Victoria & Alberts at the Grand Floridian Resort (a 5 diamond & 5 star restaurant). I can't wait to come here again for a really special occasion!
Portly organized this occasion. Should not have to wait an hour for a reserved table when you arrive on time.
Not worth the price but the location was beautiful.
It was my birthday celebration, and noone offered a special dessert as other fine restaurants always do.
Buffet run out when we were ready to eat and was not replenish
Absolutely loved everything about our dinner here. Great atmosphere, service and of course.. food. One of the best meals my husband and I have ever had. Would highly recommend the 5 course meal.
Food was very good, wait staff was very attentive. Bill was over $300 for a party of two, a little pricey. Will come back again.
Delicious foods with autumn favors. Wonderful atmosphere. Love it!
Didn't realize I booked a brunch as I selected lunch for choice on the open table app. However, we waited over fifteen minutes for our table...room was small so understood that. But, the brunch was pathetic in comparison to many other hotel brunches I have been to, and we had two children, ages 5, and 9, and couldn't order anything for them different from buffet, other than omelet or waffles which was offered to adults...so one child had a waffle, the other literally had bacon and some fruit...we paid 20$ for that...for six people we spent close to 300$! Brunch should have scrambled eggs as part of buff table... Not every likes omelets. The whole experience...a rip off. Would have been better off at a local pub since we were eating at 1:30.
I don't often find myself disappointed with the restaurants on open table, but felt compelled to warm others about the cost for what was offered.
Service was terrible food okay drinks very light on alcohol
Had lunch with my mother. Beautiful views and pleasant room. Food was delicious
Attentive and elegant service, creative menu that’s expertly prepared and presented.
Fabulous wine list
this is our second visit to Equus. the first dining experience was excellent. We drove 1 +1/2 hours each way again to dine there again. That will be the last time. The service was poor, the attitude of the servers was poor. The chicken dish was overcooked, the dessert was uneatable. the facility is worn down and needs an upgrade.
Wow, expensive and not sure it was worth the money. Ambiance was wonderful, with a scenic view down to the Hudson, it was a beautiful backdrop to a lunch that didn’t do it credit. My brother had a 27.00 burger with fries. Not even wagyu. It was perfectly cooked. My wife had exactly 3 sea scallops on a bed of something forgettable (I forgot). She said they were excellent; I thought the portion was meager. I had the duck confit. It was awful. The usual duck toughness but SO salty! I like salty foods, but this was inedible. I traded it in for the 3 cheese and accompaniments plate. It was very nice but then again, it was food assembly, not cooking, so no stars for that. Portions were more fair as you could choose some expensive cheeses. Humboldt Fog goat cheese, for one, probably the best goat cheese money can buy. The high point of the food was dessert. This was amazing and outstanding. It was like it was from different kitchen from the rest of the meal. My wife had the most amazing blueberry pistachio macron. The presentation was world class and it was delicious, the one tiny bite I was allowed. Service was polite but overtaxed with one server for 7 tables. Forgot to take off the salty duck, but immediately corrected this. 150.00 for lunch for 3. I’d come back just for dessert. Hard pass on the entrees, though.
This is a stunning location with a real drive-up castle and terraces overlooking the Hudson (at some distance). The food was pretty good and the service was ernest, but the wine list is average at best.
I'd return for the romantic ambiance.
Made my reservation online for my 9th wedding anniversary. I confirmed 2 major food allergies not once but twice and a third time when my waiter took my order. Needless to say I broke out in hives from the food allergy being cross contaminated and had to remind them of my “special occasion”. Other tables around us received better attention. Coffee was the best part of the entire $300 experience to be honest and even that I’m was told they’re changing.
As the saying goes, timing is everything, and in this case it was strikingly true. The Equus property recently changed hands and it seems like a there is a long wonderful future ahed. This was the first noght of the new menu and it was in my opinion very well thought out and included several specialty beef cuts to choose from if you wished to.
There was a nervous energy among the staff that made it fun to be a part of the new menu roll out and probably a new style of service (I've never been here so I don't know it's former life)
We ordered the Prawns, Thick Sliced Bacon and Steak Tartar for apps. all were spectacular the chef has a very simple idea, let the foods flavors speak for themselves with a judicious use of seasonings.
Entree was the 38 Day Dry Ages Rib Eye for 2, The Chef first presented this majestic piece of beef, it was gorgeous. Tasting it when it came out as a perfect medium rare was something that I haven't experienced in a very long time. The meat was wonderfully seasoned and melted in your mouth. It was presented beautifully, on a cutting board with some sauce garnishes as well as the 2 sauces we had ordered.. I was phenomenal. I couldn't believe how great everyhing it was..., the creamed spinach wasnt overly creamy it still tasted of spinach, a perfect balance of flavors,
Desserts were thoughtful, unusual and impeccably prepared with amazing flavors
Overall this was a fantastic evening and one of the best and most enjoyable dinners I've had in a very very long time.
We loved every minute we spent there and will certainly be going back.
This was a special occasion for our parents. The staff from the valet to the kitchen made the visit amazing!
They did not remember that it was a special occasion despite noting it on our reservation. They mostly ignored us. Other people received better attention.
Everything was excellent
A beautiful, romantic place for dinner. Also nice for small group meetings. Some tables overlook the Hudson River at a distance. The bar is charming and outdoor tables are nice.
