food and ambiance were outstanding wine selection excellent the service was solicitous and very friendly but not experienced or as professional as the restaurant of this style should require on the whole a wonderful time workers just need a bit more training
This place needs a good deal of service improvement. Starting with the hostess who seemed very angry and overwhelmed to the manager who couldn't figure out which salad was which, that was being served to us. Main course took forever, and the waiter blamed it on the kitchen, which was probably right. Ambience was very nice, so we didn't mind waiting.
Staff was confused and unfamiliar w the menu. Pairing with wine very mediocre. Forty dollars extra for two glasses, none for the dessert. White was excellent reds were harsh unaired and disappointing.
Main course was lukewarm . Sides were cold and sent back . Came back room temp. Desserts were hard (stale? Over refrigerated?) and uninteresting.
It is a lovely place and our other visits were better but this will be the last.....

Our group loved the place
We were a group of 5. We all had a wonderful dinner. Two of us had been to Equus before and it is better now. The rest of our table truly enjoyed their first time dining here.
Our waiter was terrific. He was so informative, attentive and accurate.

We dined at Equus during Restaurant Week to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere and setting are always the stars, and there was live jazz courtesy of Mark Morganelli & The Jazz Forum All-Stars, which added to the special ambience. I found the Restaurant Week menu to be limited (only 3 starters and entrees) and not that enticing. The shrimp appetizer was interesting, but the salmon was undercooked and unappealing. My husband enjoyed the gnocchi. I swapped out the salmon for skirt steak, which was better but not hot enough. The service was accommodating, yet not nearly as professional as you'd expect in a restaurant of this type. They did a nice job acknowledging our anniversary and bringing a special dessert. I would return for the jazz and the beautiful setting, but not seeking outstanding food.
We’ve dined there on other significant days because the staff made it special and the meals were outstanding. 11/7 was our silver anniversary and we chose Equus because of prior delights. 11/07/17 our silver anniversary dinner was miserable. Food was sub par. Restaurant week should display the best. We got the sloughing off of who knows what. In addition, there was zero recognition to our silver anniversary.

Food was ok not outstanding, my steak was uncooked rare not medium rare. Rolls were put on the plate but we were not asked which roll we wanted. A tiny pat of butter was given to the entire table. We asked for more and again got 1 pat. Asked again and finally got butter for the table. Needed to ask server to change rolls that were given to us. Got dessert but waiter ran away before we were able to order coffee. We were all disappointed.
This was the worst meal I have ever had!!! Service was terrible. There were 8 of us for brunch. We ordered our 3 courses. Every - and I mean every - course was presented to the wrong person at our table. I can see one mistake but 8 errors - for every course. The main course sat on the serving trays for a good 4 minutes. Of course, by the time we were served, the food was warm to almost cold. We had to ask for water refills & bread & butter. One couple was going to purchase a gift card, but after this disastrous meal, they changed their mind. We ( all 8 of us) will never go back to Equus again. We have been going there for many years & the entire experience has become dismal- to say the least!!! Hasn't always been that way. Maybe it's time for new ownership???? It's a shame because the venue is magnificent but if the food & service is bad, why bother. So, bottom line- SAVE YOUR MONEY & GO ELSEWHERE!!!
After we were seated, no one came to greet us or take a drink order for 20 minutes. Nearly all of the food was disappointing - undercooked pasta, absurdly sweet desserts, one-note mains. When a member of our party sent back an item because it clearly did not include the primary ingredient listed on the menu, the server took it away but returned a few minutes later with the same dish and said he had confirmed with the chef that it was the correct item despite not being able to identify the key item on the dish.
We were disappointed in the quality of food and even more so in the service. Our waiter seemed to vanish after taking our prix fixe order and while our food did come nobody ever asked if we wanted another drink or even coffee at dessert. The food was nothing special and did not live up to past meals there.
We had dinner here on Halloween to celebrate our anniversary. The food was great and the service superb. I only wish I had gone when it was daylight so I could enjoy the view. Would dine here again if ever in the area. Thanks for making our evening wonderful
My two frIends and I had a very enjoyable evening recently at Equus. The restaurant is so elegant & the food & service were truly superb! The menu had a huge variety of different types of food from which to select. The shrimp appetizer was out of this world. Would highly recommend this culinary experience to all!
Ambiance outstanding. The hotel is lovely with spectacular views. General's Bar is old world and a great place for a drink. The table service for dinner was excellent. Food was average, but nothing to get excited about if you are someone who appreciates fine dining and high quality food.
I have been to this restaurant in year's past and it had been excellent. The food this trip was mediocre, as was the service and menu choices and we had come there for two birthday celebrations. There was absolutely no mention of it during our dinner, not a happy birthday candle or anything else. We were so disappointed that we didn't even have dessert - and we were celebrating two birthdays.
