A beautiful place but a limited menu. Food was good but not outstanding considering the prices.
Everything was amazing! Would recommend to anyone. The service, food, wine, setting and fantastic view were all we hoped for. My wife and I couldn't be happier. Thank you!
They cancelled the reservation due to a mechanical problem in the kitchen. We were very disappointed and feel they handled it poorly
Horrible experience! We made the reservation months ago. It was confirmed the day before the brunch. We came al the way from Brazil, took the train to Tarrytown and a taxi to the castle. When we arrived there the staff said there was no brunch, because the kitchen had a problem the day before, and they didn’t manage to inform all the guests. It was obviously a lie, because they were hosting a kid’s party in the same space. After we insisted they put us on a taxi to another restaurant. Total disrespect. I imagine they don’t control the reservations that are made on opentable. Very unprofessional. Don’t recommend to anyone!
They reported ventilation problems and were being shut down by the fire department
I could not make another reservation on Open Table because the Equus reservation remained active and could not be cancelled via open table
Excellent food and wine! The service was very good as well!
The place is stunning!
The food was great, overall highly recommended!
Everything was excellent.
I would try this perhaps for a romantic dinner, but going for lunch was strange. We passed some large empty dining rooms and found the check-in area. Only one other table had guests. The food was good and the view was stunning, but the experience was...weird.
Terrance was amazing! Eating at the castle is truly a lovely experience. The garden room is adorable.
This was our second meal at Equus and it was fantastic. The service here was impeccable and attentive. Our waiter took the time to explain a few menu items for clarity of ingredients and was very attentive. For fine dining in Westchester, Equus sets the bar.
Lovely as always. Celebrated husband’s birthday with a lunchtime get away on a Monday. Beautiful setting. Good food. And just a little decadent on a weekday. Even the valet wished my husband a Happy Birthday when we arrived. So nice.
Our meal at Equus was disappointing. We went for a Mother's Day brunch and found the food mediocre and overpriced. The lone option was a three-course prix fixe meal for $75. This is steep for a brunch, so the food should have been excellent. Instead, they served tired salads and chilled soup for the first course and uninspired choices for the second. My wife and I had the filet mignon, which was much tougher and less tasty it should have been. A good filet should almost melt in your mouth. The desserts were acceptable at best--our son was with us, so altogether we tried three different options.
The restaurant itself, part of a beautifully restored old castle, is lovely, and from the enclosed terrace, you have a spectacular view of the Hudson River. But given the high prices and disappointing food, we don't plan to eat there again.
Was very disappointed in the service
Were rushed to place our lunch order
No one had even taken a drink order yet
Servers weren't sure of who was covering which tables
Bread was delivered after the appetizers
Proper utensils were not provided for the courses
Plenty of staff - seemed to be more milling around than working
No salt or pepper were offered-I would have liked a little cracked pepper on the Crudo
Waited 20= minutes for the check - and flagged down the Captain
The price point and atmosphere indicate a level of service - which frankly was just not there
We were there to celebrate Mothers Day. The food was delicious. What a wonderful way to
Very nice. We arrived too late to enjoy the view of the river but the interior surroundings are also impressive. Service as good, not great. Food was very good. Would recommend.
It was a wonderful experience and everything was exquisite! They were very accommodating to our vegetarian needs.
We had a very nice evening. However, I had originally asked for reservations for a table for 5 guests to arrive sometime between 6:30 and 7:30 ... but was advised no tables for 5 were available for the time period. The restaurant was half empty for the entire time we were there i.e. 6:45 to approximately 8:45. This suggests Open Table does not control reservations at Equus and I should make my reservation directly with the restaurant.
Food was good, although service timing was a bit off - starters came before cocktails and sauce on the side request was not followed.
Beautiful view, elegant surroundings.
Breakfast at Equus was quiet and serene with an attentive staff and in a gorgeous setting
This is a wonderful place to have a delicious meal with your special someone. The service was excellent, albeit a little slow, but we had nowhere else to be. We were both very happy with our dinner choices. The ambiance of the castle was very romantic. We had a drink at the intimate bar before dinner. This is not a lively place, so if you’re looking for a scene, I’d go elsewhere. But, if you’re looking for a romantic, quiet place with beautiful grounds, this is it.
Food and service were exceptional. Not crowded and very quiet, which is important to me. One minor criticism is that the chairs cannot get quite close enough to the round tables, since the table base pedestal is rather wide. Our server was very polite and attentive, adding to a pleasant experience.
The room is beautiful and when we arrived it was not full. Therefore, I expected great service. The service was distracted and inattentive. They all seemed very inexperienced. The food was uninspired and did not meet the high price tag. They are coasting on the view and that is not enough. Disappointed.
The food was marginal though nicely presented. The cold shrimp entrée were somewhat hard and I don't know why they had to be cold. The salmon entrée had a soggy crust. The wine selection should have had more wines in the $40-55 range. Very good service.
We've been here for Sunday Brunch a few times and always enjoyed the good food and impeccable service. Not so much this time. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was delicious, as was the avocado puree with beet caviar. Eggs Benedict were almost raw. We had to ask for rolls and butter. We ordered coffee, which came with sugar but no cream, no spoons. The waiter was agreeable but, if he was new, he needed more training. The room was noisy and we were seated next to a party of 12 or 14, who actually were not as noisy as another nearby party of 6. The sound just bounces off the walls. We were not in the front room which looks out over the property.
The view was beautiful. Service great. Too slow on serving the food but it turned out great
Service was a little too slow even for a relaxing evening. Food was great though.
We went for Sunday brunch and waited what seemed to be forever for our server to notice us. We were not thrilled with the brunch menu and noticed that the people sitting in the sunroom were having items from the "bar" menu. So, we were able to get a table outside overlooking the grounds and the river on the first fabulous day of the year. We ended up having a lovely lunch of oysters and octopus and burgers from the bar menu, all of which were good, although not amazing. The view and the weather were the big winners here.
Lovely historic castle-like experience. Decor was pretty (a little tired) and the views were amazing.
Beautiful restaurant and grounds outside. Service is top notch. Food is very overpriced and is average in taste. Did not realize it was a prix fixe menu until the end of the meal. I believe it should have been explained by the waiter. The food took very long and in fact so long the waiter said he was sorry about the wait. The desserts were as if someone took them out of a box from the freezer and heated up. Again, the hotel may be very nice. The ground and ambiance are very nice. However, the food does NOT match the restaurant. Crazy expensive for food that's average.
The castle is beautiful. The dining room is beautifully decorated although they need to have the chairs cleaned because all of the chairs at my table had stains. I ordered the king salmon which was accompanied with quinoa. The salmon was a little on the salty side for me. I thouroghly enjoyed the bread pudding with maple ice cream.
The atmosphere, service and ambiance were wonderful but the food was a little disappointing. We chose the 3 course brunch and a good deal of the choices had an up-charge which were not worth the extra expense. The appetizer cheese platter and the shrimp cocktail were both skimpy. The main course and desserts were good. Overall it was way just overpriced.
Went there with my friends for lunch. They have limited menus, it's combined with 2 breakfast menus and about 3 menus for lunch. Basically we don't like their food. Ordered the steak, burger and egg benedict and the sampler platter for appetizer. The place is really nice but they only have 1 waiter.
My mom & I had a wonderful dinner at Equus. It was my mom’s birthday & they made it very special for her. We will definitely go back.
More than I expected! Service was impeccable. Food was tastefull presented and scrumptious. I will be coming back again.
The restaurant is beautiful but the food was underwhelming. Our waiter was not good and delivered our food to another table. When we asked about it, he brought it over from the other table and told us it wasn't touched. Skip the food and the huge bill and enjoy the atmosphere.
Had an excellent time at Eqqus. Service and the food was excellent. The bartender made some classic drinks - margarita with a smoked poblano pepper and a spin on the traditional Bellini. Dinner was great - try the 24hour brined pork chop. Our server Damien was excellent and made the special occasion wonderful.
Have not been able to get to the Castle lately and it is always a special place for my husband and me! Everything was wonderful as always, food, drinks and our waiter!! Dont ever change!!
Lovely restaurant on top of a mountain overlooking the Hudson River. Just a beautiful setting, top notch service and delicious food! We were happily surprised at, while it is such a secluded setting, it was right off Route 287.
Daughters 28th birthday. It was perfect. Chef even cane out to see what she would like since she is a vegetarian
