Prices were WAY up since last we were there. More of a special occasion than everyday experience now....sad..
Jack's is a good friendly place with the same menu over and over. Food is slightly better than average but a bit pricey. But it caters to upper middle class and higher. Clientele is 40's and 50's and higher in age. Pot roast is the most steady entree IMO. Fried chicken way overpriced AT $27. Service was decent.
Not a big selection on menu. The online menu needs to be updated to match what is actually being served. The waitstaff did excellent job.
Sat outside. Our waiter was working a large table inside, rarely saw him. Took a long time to get our food, waiter never checked on us. Hamburgers were over cooked. We had to go inside to get our own salt and condiments. Will not go back again.
Spinach salad appeared as though it was dumped from the bag with not much presentation. Had added crab cakes so salad was about half the size I expected. We have dined there many times and always felt good value, but not so much this visit. Also,
requested dressing on the side and it had been put on the salad.
Server was unfriendly- didn’t smile and not particularly attentive esp for what seemed to be a slow night.
The fish sandwich was pitiful. 2 in our party of 6 ordered it and we had to laugh about it! Didn’t taste bad but fit maybe a third of the bun- at best! And was a fish stick! Def not what the fish sandwich used to be. It should be served as an appetizer on a slider bun. And Jacks has been our “go to” for years. Love the bartender, ambiance- but tonite was disappointing.
Classy place with delicious food. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and had a great attitude. Just seem like it took a long time to order.
We were here for our anniversary. We had reservations but were left standing at the podium forever. Nice table. Rolls were black on top. Wedge salad OK salmon oscar was overdone even tho we asked for it to be medium and it was a very small portion. Had 6 spears of asparagus half of which were a yellow color not green.
We only have dined at Equus periodlcally over the years but our recent visit left us a little disappointed. My wife's Cesar salad consisted of three uncut bibb lettuce and two croutons.
Nothing like the Cesar salad in our past visit. The salmon had very little sauce .The filet that
I had was very good but the potatoes seemed undone. The dessert was excellent and the serivce
provide was very good.
Tori is fabulous!
Was disappointed in the small menu. Was not expecting pizza, hamburger and fish sandwiches. Will probably not return.
Everything was great
We visit Equus for special occasions, such as anniversaries and friends get together. Always good food and pleasant cuisine. Our server, Franklin, was outstanding. Always there when we needed him but not hovering.
Great atmosphere, service, and food. Always welcoming and glad to see us. We feel like friends welcomed home.
The food is always excellent and the noise level is low. Great service, excellent drinks and no rush.
Food well prepared, tasty, comfortable. Service friendly but rather inattentive. Ambience is quiet, tasteful, comfortable. All in all a pleasant experience.
We expected much better food from a Dean Corbett restaurant and were very disappointed in the meals we were served. We will not go back anytime soon.
Seated, waited 5 mins and no one brought any menus. I saw some and got them myself. Waited more and waitress finally came over. She was nice but overall, not the best experience. Food is overpriced and atmosphere is very dated.
Have liked Jack's for a while. What I particularly resonate with is the leather-covered, stuffed, wonderfully comfortable and intimate lounge seating. Sort of like visiting at home with a glass of wine and a snack. The regular dining is fine but lacks the ambiance of the lounge.
I must say we were disappointed in Equus. My meal was really good; the fried chicken. Unfortunately, the three others who ate sandwiches we mediocre at the very best. With all of the really good restaurants in Louisville we will no return to E&Js.
Excellent food, reasonably priced and Attentive waitstaff!
I enjoyed the variety of the menu, the ambience. Even though the wine list was small, it was very nice
Great food and service.
Our group either had the fried chicken or the pot roast. Both were excellent as always! Jacks is a favorite.
The two people in our party who ordered the sea bass could not eat their dinner because it had a very strong odor of ammonia. This ruined our dinner. We will not come back.
Was out of the first 3 wines we chose. Out of many bar products. Out of different appetizers, main courses and desserts. The waitress was constantly apologizing and seemed very annoyed due to all the times she had to tell us they did not have something we ordered. I been to the restaurant multiple times and enjoyed it in the past so I am surprised how bad the experience was on this occasion.
Food was good. Service was fast. I did feel like the restaurant looked really fancy with not so fancy looking food.i would eat there again. The fish sandwich was very good.
Service was poor. My husband ordered two appetizers as his dinner. Simple. I ordered a fish sandwich. I finished my sandwich and vegetable twenty minutes before my husband's food arrived. There is no excuse especially when there were only five or six tables seated. People who arrived long after us received their orders before we did.
The atmosphere was quaint... Our reservations had us seated by the kitchen/servers entrance (high traffic area) and the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived, only two other couples were seated during our stay... this made no sense, but they honored our request to move to a corner seat. Just not impressed... the price point versus value and quality did not equate... My expectations had me exceeding a chain restaurant experience (which we avoid at all cost here in Louisville because we are such a foodie city and are really blessed with many shining stars) by leaps and bounds. It did not... Maybe I am just getting cheap as I grow wise but no "Wow" factor here... My wife and I almost laughed out loud when our $9 salad wedge was served but then disbelief set in... I am sorry... the food was good but only if at an average price... $24 Fried chicken (breast) should of been "Local and free range" and half the chicken. I will not subject myself to this again...This experience has only made me that much more wiser, I just wish that wisdom had not come with such a cost.
Service was wonderful and food tasty
Good waitstaff, chef accomodated my dairy-free request. Had excellent duck entree & spouse enjoyed the always-good (and large!) fried chicken.
Wonderful service, friendly staff, and good food. The mushroom fumé was the best! We will definitely be back for future special occasions.
The spinach salad with chicken was a delicious way of keeping my New Years resolution of eating healthier and the chef prepared the sea bass special for my gluten free wife which shows one the great service they provide and she loved it
Service was great and it was not noisy. My sea bass dish was great, my husband had strip steak and he wasn’t happy with the grissle and felt it had been warmed over prior to serving.
Dont get the steak. Its like a Ponderosa steak. Also, the pasta Boleniese was disappointing. There was hardly any sauce on it.
Food was not very good Mushroom soup was lightly flavored and chicken stock. They had a tatar Tot special that I would have been ashamed to serve leftover Mash Potatoes made into tot horrible. The cod looked like postage stamp smaller than bun it was served on. Cod did have good flavor
Will not teturn
Never been to before, but loved Corbett's so we tried. Food was very good, but less than we were expecting.
Outstanding place. Will definitely be going back again. Had the pizza and it was made with all fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection.
This was a very disappointing experience. First, we were seated at a tiny, cold table smack next to several others so there was no privacy, elbow room or warmth on a bitterly cold evening. We waited a long time before finally being greeted by a server. Nothing on the actual menu was the same as what was shown online. We ordered wine and appetizers. 20 minutes later, some very small portioned apps arrived, but still no drinks or plates for the appetizers. We decided to leave and go to an actual steakhouse and had a wonderful meal and excellent service at nearby DelFriscos.
