Equus and Jack's Lounge
So nice to be back to Equs!! Great as always even with all the changes. They did great job.
We had a lovely dinner. All six of us loved what we had down to the very important cocktails and wine selection. We were able to have a great conversation without having to speak loud. The service was fantastic!
We were grateful that our server found a better table where there was little noise. It made all the difference! We always enjoy our times at this restaurant. The food is good and service too. Choices are always good.
Great Service and Great Food!! Couldn't ask for anything better.
I held a business dinner here after not visiting E&J in some time. The table was nice, quiet corner, just as I'd requested. Service was good. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best. An example was my pork chop. Fatty, odd texture and flavor. Sauce was off-putting. The French onion soup had a slab of cheese on top that wasn't melted down and just slightly browned like you'd normally have with French onion soup. My "wedge" salad was a tossed salad, and not a wedge at all. Dropped $230 and just feel it wasn't worth it.
Excellent restaurant food prepared to perfection. The only negative was hostess tried to seat us in a booth near the kitchen when there were on three families in the facility on our arrival. Ask to be moved and she was reluctant to move us so I told my wife let's go then another preferably table was located.
Service and Food were both great! We will definitely return.
We were not happy at all with the food! It started with calamari then to the duck! My duck was just pure fat and under cooked! Then ordered the sea bass which had a burnt taste to it! We spent about $100 on an awful meal we didn’t enjoy! Only thing we lived was, running in to an old customer who needed house remodeled again! So, lost $100 on an awful meal, gained $80k on a new home remodel.
But, we will not be back again. We eat out nightly at places with beautiful atmospheres as it’s our entertainment and bonding time after a long day away from each other.
Service very slow. Food is mediocre at best. Nice place just simply not worth a try.
Great experience! Requested table near the door for my 91 and 89-yr-old parents. Seated immediately at the first table past the host. Thank you! Food was great! Two of us had the very nice shrimp special. Love Jack’s Nachos!
I was disappointed, I think the food was OK but for the price for a fillet, $40 is way to much for this filet
Guests in town
so nice and quiet, felt like we were at a private party. easy parking and in out out access excellent. great service. will be back - especially liked the 50% of wine night.
Very nice staff and service. Food was terrible. This food used to be good, but I felt like I was eating at a place that heats frozen food up, not chef prepared. For $100, I’ll pass.
I had the special: shrimp and grits. The grits were cold, but my shrimp was good. Our server, Dobus, was very attentive.
We do almost every special occasion here. This time didn’t disappoint. The food was a little less then normal, but wait staff was fantastic and we so enjoyed the overall evening I had special and the asparagus was a little over done and crab wasn’t the best on salmon. My husband had fire cracker salmon which was very good.
Will be back soon for our anniversary.
Celebrating our anniversary and were very pleased with everything. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect.
this was my first visit in to Equus since the new owners took over and I love the redecoration and painting ....it lightened up the place..... our visits have mainly been quick stop ins and we have been eating in the lounge area...which I love as casual and quiet areas to chat with friends over drinks and food. The restaurant has always been one of the best in Louisville, but of late has risen on our personal list of favorites
My wife and I ate dinner there on New Year's Eve. We had not been in previously. We found the atmosphere very conducive to an enjoyable evening with just the right amount of lighting. We sat at the bar while our table was being readied. The drinks were great and the Atlantic Sea Bass was excellent. The lettuce wedge with the fried onions on top was excellent! We will be returning.
It was our first time but won’t be our last!
Phenomenal New Year’s Eve experience! Our first time and absolutely loved it! Love the atmosphere, the food, the service and the whole experience. Our new favorite place to eat for special occasions!!!
Service was excellent. Food and drinks were average. Salad good however the hamburger beef had no flavor. The flavors were in the toppings and bun.
Tables too close to allow servers and patrons to pass without with seated guests being constantly bumped. The special, baked trout was overcooked and dry. Service was very good. I will definitely not return to Equus, although I will return however to Jacks.
Always great service, good food, wonderful atmosphere.
Our food was delicious .Tory was n excellent served. I got the pot roast which was tender and delicious. My daughter enjoyed the meatloaf.
Friday night for our daughters 21st birthday and our nieces 27th birthday. Had a great time and the service was excellent!
Good drinks , food and service. Jack’s is consistently a great place to eat in Louisville.
The food was outstanding!!! Let me say it again "OUT STANDING!" Really a fantastic meal. The server could have been a little more with it but no big deal. A really nice setting and a great table. The clientele seems to be a little older but who cares. Just another well kept secrete.
It was nice. Just a little crowded.
AMAZING. Each. And. Every. Time. Classic, elegant, but not stuffy. A meal is a full meal, not this ala carte stuff where you have to pay in the teens for a side dish for 2 and have to find someone that wants the same side as you do. The plates are full and gorgeous, none of that artistic negative space. No need to stop and get something to eat when you leave because if you don't get full it's your own dang fault.
Equus is one of our "go to" places to eat a good meal. The mushroom fume and fried chicken are our favorites! Unfortunately, this last visit the service wasn't up to the quality we've come to know and love. It took almost an hour to get our food, the soup was warm at best and even though we'd saved room for the bourbon bread pudding, our server was so slow, we decided to just pass and get our check. We will definitely go back but, sadly, it seemed to be an off night for our server and the bus boys.
This might have been an off night, but we will not be back. Service was poor, food was less than average.
A longtime favorite! Never disappointed!
This place is very special to us, but we felt the food this visit wasn’t as good as normal. Service was very good. Just felt the over all quality wasn’t up to all our past visits.
We will go back as we love this place. It might of just been this visit, as it’s always a good place to eat. The value just seemed a little less.
Very comfortable for visiting...
Always good cocktails and great service. Menu great mix of Equus classics and updates. Quiet dining or great lounge area. Nice outdoor area available too!
Food was quite good but service was poor. Waitstaff wasn’t properly trained and couldn’t keep up, despite the dining room being only half full.
Met client for a drink in Jack’s lounge. Great service, drinks, deep leather couches. We then headed into the restaurant and had their famous Seabass dish and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
Very nice place! Food was amazing! Will definitely return
