Epulo Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We love the food and wine at epulo, especially the truffle oil, arugula, and prosciutto pizza! It was slightly disappointing that the bartender got very behind on drink orders. It took 15 minutes or more for my drink to arrive. The waitress was polite to check in and tell us the drinks were backed up. Also, our salad arrived before our wine arrived, so the timing of our drinks were off all evening.
Our favorite Edmonds restaurant. The food is consistently wonderful. Must try the lamp chops...the best ever in my opinion. The short rib is amazing as well and if you ask nicely they will toss it with pappardelle...over the top delicious! Debra is amazing! Can’t really say enough good things:)
One of our favorite restaurants with consistently the best food we have had at any Edmonds restaurant. It is also a nice 1 mile walk from our house so we can walk off the dessert. They changed the menu since our last visit. I was hoping to get the halibut on a bed of lentils my husband had had. That dish was outstanding, the lentils the best I have had anywhere and fish perfectly done. Their vegetables are wonderful. I always order the roasted cauliflower or the brussel sprouts. My friends split the cod dish and liked it very much. The calimari/shrimp delicious, tender, lightly battered with a yummy slightly spicey sauce. My husband had the kale salad which was a bit dry, but, he gave it a 4/5 and the chicken which he gave a 3/5. He kept sneaking in and stealing my calimari/shrimp. We skipped dessert this time but, if you ever get a chance to try their maple nut ice cream, it is to die for!
Everything was sooo tasty ! We had the calamari/shrimp appetizer along with the brussel sprouts. We had the gruyere rigatoni to share, the braised short ribs, and the lingcod. I would order everything again. Service was a tad slow at times but afterall, we were there on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Great people watching to pass the time. Window tables looked attractive and booth seating looked comfy. Our first time there and would highly recommend making a reservation if planning to go on weekend. Wait staff were curteous and apologetic for wait times eventhough we were totally understanding. Definately planning to return.
We went to Epulo on Saturday evening prior to a show. I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. With the first bite, I knew something was wrong with the chicken. Our waitress took the plate away immediately. I changed my order to a steak. It's difficult for any restaurant to overcome this situation, but Epulo did a great job. I was given a complimentary glass of wine and also received a percentage off of my steak.
What a great job they did! Definitely coming back!
We've been to Epulo about four times, all for special occasions, since it's a little on the pricey side. But the food is EXCELLENT, and the wine list is extensive, with hand-crafted cocktails included. Cozy, up-scale atmosphere, with wonderful service. Great for dates, anniversaries, family in from out-of-town you'd like to impress, or just a nice meal out once in a while. And downtown Edmonds so charming, especially during the holidays. Highly recommended!
Great food and very romantic/cozy place for the dinner.
However the service wasn't as expected. Used plates were left on the table and not being cleaned up before a next meal arrives. a but messy. would recommend to put more attention what is in use on the table and would could be taken away....
But in general good place.
My wife and I made a last-minute decision to have dinner here on a Friday evening. It was just before 5 when I checked Open Table to see if tables were available. Two people at 7 o'clock. Perfect. We caught up on each other's week at home for a bit then drove the few miles to the restaurant.
We were seated at a small table towards the front of the restaurant. Although this is a cozy neighborhood place, we were far enough away from other tables to have our own conversation. For those of you with hearing aids, there is a fair amount of ambient noise in the restaurant.
For starters we ordered the Fried Calamari and Rock Shrimp Fritti, which we enjoyed. The batter was light and the food nicely fried. My wife had the Braised Beef Short Ribs for her main course and I had the Seared Duck Breast.
She found the short ribs to be acceptable, but nothing memorable. They were a bit over cooked and were lacking of anything special or memorable in terms of flavor.
I found the duck breast to be very tasty, as were the rest of the items that accompanied the main course. The duck was prepared medium rare, which is very much to my liking. Although I'm not a big eater, I found the portion a bit small. I would order this dish again.
My wife had the Chief Cabernet Sauvignon from Mark Ryan. It's very full-bodied and flavorful. I had a glass of Cambria Syrah . It was a perfect pairing for duck.
I would guess that this is our 4th or 5th visit to Epulo over the last few years. We don't go often, but have always enjoyed our meals. My wife's experience with her short ribs was the first time we've had something that we wouldn't order again.
On this particular evening the wait staff seemed to be a little taxed. I ordered a second glass of wine about halfway through dinner and after waiting for more than an appropriate amount of time, had to remind our waitress. When the check came I noticed that she had not charged us for that glass. Overall, it was a good experience. We'll go back.
We were in Edmonds for an event and someone recommended Epulo as a good place to go for our anniversary. Then it became a bit of a party when someone I work with joined us. Epulo is a perfect place to go to to share some small plates and pizza. The wine selection is amazing and I thought the food was delicious and fairly priced. Our server was very nice and we didn't feel hurried. Kind of a nice European like dining experience.
Worst Seattle Restaurant Week experience ever! The food was not worth the value. Cheap ingredients--their one "short rib" menu was not short rib at all; it was cheap chuck roast. Dessert was served after a 30 minute wait, which consisted of cold, chewy donuts. Would not recommend at all!
My husband and I had a great dinner date here recently. We had stayed away for some time because we had come on Valentines Day and had a pretty bad experience. I am happy to see that was probably just a bad night one-off for them.
I'm so glad we gave Epulo another chance. The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect and the service was good. It's my favorite local restaurant now and I can't wait to return!
This is the second year I have taken participants from the Edmonds' WOTS Conference. This year five of the seven of us were from out of state. The sixth person moved to Edmonds in July and said she would like to take her husband to Epulo.
Only two complaints: I ordered roasted Cauliflower that did not come. The server did not check how the food was and I gave up on the order.
Noise level made it a little hard to hear the people at the end of the table. If I take a group next year, I will definitely consider Epulo again.
We have been dining at Epulo since they opened in Edmonds some 8 years ago. It has become one of Edmonds' premier restaurants. The food is great and the food and wine menu is original. The wait staff are very friendly and attentive. Even the owner often visits the guests' tables to find out directly how their experience is. I would without hesitation recommend this dining experience.
