We very much enjoyed our dinner at Epulo. The staff are lovely and the ambience just right!
Always a treat for dinner and a nice night out in Edmonds
Service is usually top notch
Took my wife here for our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect for dinner. We had been to this restaurant before and will be back.
Music was way too loud. Normally not an issue, but half way into dinner someone really turned up the volumn. Usually not an issue, but main bartender was not working on Sunday. Very uncomfortable for conversation.
Great food, however the service was subpar. We went in a group and the waitress didn’t take our drink order let alone food order for about 30 minutes. Things came out of the kitchen quickly, but our waitress neglected our table and ultimately got a lower bill total because there were multiple people who wanted second cocktails/beers that never got the chance to order after the entrees arrived. The food and cocktails were amazing which is why I am still giving 4 stars. If the food and kitchen speed wasn’t as amazing, my review would be much lower.
The entire staff is friendly and all want your dining experience to be great
Very accommodating towards my wife’s gluten free dairy free dietary restrictions.
Overall this restaurant was very good and will return again. Their meal prices were on par with restaurants of similar quality and they had a very good selection. Their menu included both regular and smaller plate sizes for many of the offerings which I applaud since I believe all restaurants should offer that option. A very nice experience.
Generally excellent food and very capable, friendly service, but Saturday night was painfully loud. Partly this was that there were several particularly raucous groups, but the restaurant also seems to follow the "hard surfaces will echo the crowd noise and make us seem busy and popular" theory of space planning. It was loud enough that people were moving tables to try to escape noise, servers were leaning way in and cupping their hands over their ears to hear, and quiet conversations were being conducted at drill-sergeant volume levels. By the end of our meal (around 10) it was comfortable, but when we arrived, around 8:30, it was a roaring din. I'd recommend going early or late if you don't enjoy the roar of the crowd.
Wanted to love this restaurant. Seemed overpriced and very noisy. Food was good.
The food and service was excellent as always. One of our favorite places in Edmonds.
Great time. Definitely going back.
I ordered the lamb and it was very dry. I could not finish it because it was so bad. Probably my worst experience at Epulo I have ever had in the 20+ times I have been. I am very disappointed because the food is usually very good. The waitress said that the chef changed recently. And you never serve lamb on top of a salad, it is served with mashed potatoes or something similar not a salad. Everybody else’s food in my party was dry looking and one person was supposed to have risotto and they had some other variation of something.
Charming spot in downtown Edmonds. Food was delicious, service quick and efficient. Good value.
Our first time dining here. We were looking for a pre-show dinner and Epulo Bistro came up in the search results.
Upon arrival we were promptly seated in a nice little back "corner" that even though was close to the kitchen turned out to be relatively quiet compared to the rest of the restaurant. It was full on a Saturday night and quite energetic. Customers were a mix of couples, families and other groups. The "vibe" was positive rather than just noisy. And it seemed like quite a few regulars.
Our server soon greeted us with some good recommendations off the menu and specials sheet. We put in our cocktail orders, and when she returned with them we were ready to order food. Courses came out well paced and we never had to wonder where service was. We had:
Raindrop - house cocktail with vodka, white cranberry, lime a "drop" of blue curacao on the bottom. Wonderfully drinkable and buzzworthy.
Red Riding Hood - house cocktail. Rum, lime, mint, blood orange. Great combo.
House made burrata with toast and roasted grapes - excellent.
Kale and spring pea salad - excellent
baby gem lettuce with crispy prosciutto and shallot dressing - excellent. The crispy prosciutto as like high class bacon bits.
Black code with polenta and grilled aparagus - very good. The only issue was s bit too much salt but I'm salt-sensitive so for anyone else I think it would have been perfect. It did not turn me off so I did not complain about it but I get the impression if I had they would have remade it.
wild spring nettle pizza - my wife ordered this and I had a slice. the fontina was rich and wow, great flavor profile.
We were too full to order dessert. We were out in just over an hour with plenty of time to walk to the show.
It was a Wednesday night, so the restaurant wasn’t busy. The food was great and the service was good.
It was nice and quiet and easy to have a conversation, but on a busy weekend night, it might have been a little louder, but still not bad.
A treasure of Edmonds, absolutely amazing place. Food was superb, service was excellent. My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary and we are so happy we chose Epulo Bistro. The inside of the restaurant has a very romantic feel to it, all the tables are candle lit. If you want a romantic date night this is the place fori
Felt like we were eating in Paris, with the benefit of being nine hours closer to our time zone. Outstanding Martini (though it wasn't standing there for long).
We love Epulo! Was my wife’s birthday and we always reserve the same table! Deborah was absolutely wonderful and welcoming!
Our meals were as delicious as our appetizers. The special that night was superb and Deborah was so sweet she found a steak available in the back to replace one that was out for the evening, just great!
We finished with the unbelievable donuts and caramel sauce and coffee. As always an enjoyable experience! Thanks to those at Epulo!
This restaurant was recommended to me by our landlord and it definitely did NOT disappoint! I went with a friend, and am very glad we made a reservation because they were BUSY and now I know why. From the friendly hostess, to the knowledgeable wait staff, not to mention- the delicious FOOD, I was definitely impressed and cannot wait to return. I recommend the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Diablo Woodfire Pizza, and the Chocolate Truffle Torte :-)
Nice restaurant, healthy food, pleasant atmosphere, good bar.
Great place to dine with friends and family!! Although the place is loud and fun. Don’t expect to whisper!!
Food was very good, as usual, and served without delay. Sarah did a great job as server, friendly, helpful, and not pushy.
We went for restaurant week. My wife had an interesting appetizer; I had an interesting if salty chicken dish; and we both had great desserts.
As always our server Debra was incredibly gracious, efficient, and as personable as anyone
we have met in our dining experiences. (We've been dining out weekly or more for the past
35 years.). The specialty halibut was incredibly fresh with grilled asparagus and grilled
shishito peppers to add some counterpoint. The rhubarb glaze was perfect. My wife's Sole Remoulade was also very good. The Tuscan white bean soup hit the spot. On Debra's
recommendation we ordered a couple of specialty ( Oxley gin) martinis that went down
far to easily. We decided to splurge and order the freshly deep-fried doughnuts with
caramel sauce. The restaurant had to widen the doorway frames for us to leave the place.
NOT. Can't beat this local joint for dependably good food and exceptional service.
Food was wonderful and service was generally good, we did have to ask 3 servers for something after we asked our original server and they went missing.
Always excellent and inventive food in an vibrant bistro atmosphere. Fine wine list, friendly service.
Delicious food, knowledgeable staff, great service, cozy location. Tables are a bit too close together, but that's a great opportunity to meet new people!
We were your returning guests (surely not gods of your namesake inspired) last evening for dinner with our 13 year old niece visiting us from the east coast during her spring vacation from school.
Ambience was, as anticipated, very LOUD.
The service was challenged and irregular, you should ask our waitress about her challenge opening a bottle of white wine. The worst example of waiter corkage, ever.
The challenge and profound disappointments was with the cuisine, we started with Manila Clams– fine but unimpressive (the broth was bland and was that couscous?). Next was House Made Burrata – not edible, the Burrata had a heavy exterior skin almost like plastic wrap – sent back, the waitress agreed. The steak entrees – stone cold plates, cold asparagus and burned mashed potatoes, clearly made early and left under heating lamps or similar then left to die a cold death. A Marquita pizza for our niece – ingredients not integrated – literally toppings falling off soggy crust. There is more but you surely appreciate the E.PU.LO culinary failures at execution.
Your words -
“A great dish starts with the finest ingredients and a chef’s creativity. A great meal is much more – it’s a journey that fills you up. It leaves you feeling cared for, satisfied.
Using the best local and seasonal ingredients from the garden, the land, and the sea. Epulo Bistro’s menu lets the quality of the food shine. Using the time-honored techniques and passion of the Mediterranean region, Epulo Bistro’s menu is a celebration of Europe’s influence on Northwest Food.
All restaurants have off nights, likely this was one for E.PU.LO.
Is restaurant week having negative effects on service and cuisine, possible?
Please investigate and advise.
Great cocktails. The bartenders know their craft. The food was excellent. Delivered to the table by the chef/owner. Very enjoyable. It was a busy Friday evening and was a little loud for quiet conversation, but overall a wonderful evening. We will return.
We love this place. Great service, cocktails, and local fresh ingredients. We always try to make it a special night. Save room because you will want to try everything!
Servers and hostess were great. Handcrafted cocktails not so much. Perhaps our arriving at 4:30 PM was too early for the kitchen to be up to speed? We were dining for the Seattle Restaurant Week event, and looking forward to finding a new, local dining option that was highly rated.
Food quality, portion size, and specialty drinks were unfortunately disappointing.
This was my second experience at this restaurant. The first time was a little better. Previously we got booth seating, which was really comfortable. This time we got a table, kind of awkwardly wedged into a corner in front of the kitchen. No ambiance. Thankfully, we weren't at the sad tables next to the bathroom. Most of our food was delicious, but overall, I think the food was overly salted. The wine selection is awesome. I would come here again, but I would make sure to get a booth next time.
Great food and service - I love this place
We come here often and enjoy it very much, but Epulo does’t always have fish (which is my dish of choice). Tonight, however, the special was halibut, perfectly prepared, not too dry—excellent. My dinner companions both had the Bolognese and loved it. Epulo was offering a new salad of shaved vegetables, which was delicious, and is now my favorite salad. The service is attentive and friendly, but not hovering. It was Friday; they are crazy busy, but we did not feel rushed. We enjoyed our dinner, savored our wine, and left happy
Epulo never ceases to amaze.
Our early Wednesday evening dinner was flawless and would have been appropriate for any special occasion in the finest Seattle restaurants.
From the moment we arrived and were seated the service was prompt, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. We opted for small plates of lamb chops and pear Gorgonzola pizza, with a decadent Theo's chocolate dessert. The presentations were most pleasing and the quality of the food was outstanding.
This has, for the past seven years been our favorite place to celebrate or just to relax and enjoy fine dining in a relaxed and pleasing venue. Don't miss out on giving them a try. You'll be glad you did.
