Located in the heart of one of the prettiest areas of NYC on Mott Street in Nolita, this Italian restaurant has been serving excellent house-made pasta and food from the heart for over 10 years. It is a local and traveler's favorite in one, with a warm interior, outside sidewalk seating and a newly updated bar for 2016.
The menu offers a carefully designed range of healthy Italian breakfast and lunch options, but where this restaurant shines is in its dinner, with fresh pasta, incredible flavors and a great cocktail and an Italian wine list. The food is a serious affair here in the casual, approachable darling little restaurant on Mott Street. Great for dates, business lunch, or a late night cocktail and snack.

Epistrophy Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I went to Epistrophy on Sunday for brunch. The staff was amazing. So kind and attentive. The place small and cozy. I love the decor. The food was fantastic. I just found this place on Open Table because i need a place that would take reservation. I am so happy I found Epistrophy. I can't wait to go back. I had the Poached Eggs and Creamy Polenta and my friend had the Frittata. Both were fantastic. I couldn't stop looking at this cake on the bar counter. Our server told me it was new on the menu and she said it was delicious and she did not steer us wrong. She gave us an extra large slice because we were sharing. Super generous of her. It was made with orange, rosemary olive oil pound cake with an orange flavores glaze. It was sooo good! Honestly, the food is fantastic but really the staff makes you feel so welcomed. Almost as if you were at a friends home. I am so happy to have found Epistrophy.
Epistrophy is a cute little restaurant that I can definitely recommend. I met a friend for dinner here on a Wednesday night and we were very impressed with both the food and service. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm and since it was such a beautiful night we wanted to sit outside. Unfortunately, no outdoor tables were open at the time, but we were told if we waited about 30 minutes one would become available. We sat at the bar and had a delicious cocktail. Sure enough in 30 minutes a delightful outdoor table opened up. To start with we split the burrata, which was scrumptious and fresh. For our entrees, we both had the Cacio E Pepe, which was so amazing that I wanted more. Overall, the food was terrific and the service was good as well. I would gladly return to Epistrophy for another meal.
The food was just mediocre. The focaccia presented in a basket for the table was terrible and aft r one bite I put it down - and I'm a big focaccia fan. The spaghetti Nero with mussels tasted okay, but the entree portion was appetizer sized and so what seemed like a good value wasn't. I have never before arrived home from a dinner at an Italian restaurant hungry. Definitely won't return.
Great service, great atmosphere, mediocre food at best. One course was so highly overseasoned it was returned and the Hanger Steak was fine... but nothing special. Felt like a basic home meal that I could have made far better. Perhaps they had an off night, it happens... but won't be returning any time soon.
Overall, just alright experience. The atmosphere was darling but when it's 95 plus degrees in the city, if you don't have air conditioning it's hard to feel super comfortable in a restaurant (especially when closer to the kitchen). Food was pretty good (nothing to write home about, but tasty) and they had a nice selection of wines. I'll go back, but either aim for a patio seat, or wait til the fall
Great experience, beautiful space, tasty food. Neighbourhood is fun as well, would return and recommend to others. Had the eggs and zucchini fritters, eggs and polenta, and lemon ricotta pancakes. Flavours on point and portions were great. Pricing was also reasonable.
Cute hip village restaurant. Excellent friendly service. Our appetizers were really fabulous - zucchini fritters and a snap pea salad and some bruschetta (we were hungry) but I would say our entrees were sort of blah - or at least mine was - the gnocchi. It was also kind of noisy - I think just bad accoustics. Still a nice place with cool healthy food and great staff and I would go again.
Epistrophy is my favorite restaurant in the city, by far. It's so charming, so warm, and so friendly. The staff is incredibly kind, and weird (but good) things will happen to your body when you try their foodand drinks. It's a perfect place for any occasion, really. I dare you to prove me wrong.
Been to epistrophy a few times now and it definitely doesn't disappoint. Great Italian food for a great price in an amazing location. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 star all around was due to the people next to us who were shouting because they were too drunk. I would recommend this to every/ any friend who likes Italian food, and who doesn't like Italian?
Good food I particularly recommand pasta Neri that are pasta con neri di sepia with mussels and bottarga not easy to get in NY
Service is ok bartender a bit to concentrated on making imselg look good but wathever
Apérol prosecco is in a huge glass and not to bad but it's not the best also
Good adress but not a coup de cœur
We celebrated my birthday here and both the food and service were amazing! They put us in a cozy spot in the restaurant that was quite intimate but still allowed us to feel the vibe of the whole restaurant. Server was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and wine selection which was so helpful when we were trying to pair our meal with a good wine that satisfied all our tastes. Food was delicious and they brought out desserts on the house at the end of the meal, while our server and my friends sang happy birthday to me--it was all so nice!
