Love Epistrophy! The staff is so nice, it is reasonably priced and great for big groups!
Posto delizioso tra Soho e Chinatown!! Pranzo con mio marito e i bambini. Piatti squisiti e bellissima presentazione! Proprietario italiano
Carlo and his staff are amazing! We came with a big group of friends and he made everything possible for us. The food is absolutely delicious and of very high quality. The atmosphere is fantastic: super friendly, super Italian and very cosy. We can't wait to be back.
A lovely, neighborhood find. Appetizers and pastas were tasty—the beet salad was enormous and delicious. Well prepared drinks. A little loud when full, but worth it for the food.
Friendly, welcoming service. Dishes were very tasty, well-prepared and shareable. Really good renditions of familiar and comforting dishes, like gnochi and squid ink pasta. We did not feel rushed. We were catching up with old friends, and our waiter was attentive but did not rush us, instead made us feel like regulars at a warm and welcoming spot. Will certainly go back.
Absolutely fresh, interesting, consistent kitchen. This Mott Street favorite is someplace to go to again and again (and again).
Amazing service! Food was great!!
Really delicious food, pleasant service. The waiter gave us excellent recommendations on the food which we really enjoyed. Outstanding first experience!
I made a reservation a month before , for V-day. All the reviews gave me high expectations. It is important to know that the everyday menu was not available. They were serving a prix fixe menu.
. The wine list is reasonable and a bottle is not too expensive. Our Cote du Rhone came out warm, we has to ask for an ice bucket to cool it off.
Burrata - If you like soft creamy burrata that oozes once cut, this is not the place for you. Although the taste as fine, it was very firm. The beets were nice and very thinly sliced, but the large sea salt used made it seem like chewing glass. It just didn't go with the beets.
Cauliflower - This was cooked nicely. The sauce it was served atop was very good, but they barely put any on the plate.
Pumpkin Tortellini - 6 pieces . Served with very little sauce. We requested more sauce which made a huge difference. The problem is that the sauce was so watery that it didn't stick to the pasta. A little thicker would have been nice.
Lamb ragu tagliatelle - My favorite dish of the night. A good portion of al dente pasta with a hefty portion of lamb. The lamb ragu was more like sauteed ground lamb with the natural jus. Goof flavor, but again, a little more body to the ragu was expected.
Course 3 :
Mousse - a very good dessert. The mousse was rich and decadent. The berries were not sweet at all, you could tell they were not ripe. This caused less of a coherent taste than expected.
Tiramisu - Great flavor. The lady finger to mascarpone ratio was close to 1:5. I usually like a little more lady finger than that but it still tasted nice. The heavy layer of cocoa powder was a little off-putting. It was very bitter and clashed with the rest of the tiramisu.
The place is cute and in a fun part of town, but I will not recommend this place to any one. Besides the warm wine, nothing was terrible, there are just much better options around there. If I'm going to spend $195 before tip, I would rather go back to Emporio.
Kind of a bizarre experience here. I came for Valentines Day with my fiancé at 4:30. They told me that they did not have our reservation in the books despite me having confirmation of my open table reservation AND legit seeing my name on their iPad. They made a big deal about them being packed and that we had to “eat fast” since they are overbooked. Like we were inconveniencing them by honoring our reservation? There was NOBODY at the restaurant save for one person the corner. It was empty and remained so until we left an hour later. It made us feel so rushed and uncomfortable. Our sever ended up being nice toward the end by making conversation - maybe to make up for the bizarre behavior we encountered - but it was so odd. The food was good but I will never go there again because of the way we were treated. It was a shame because it really dampened our Valentine’s Day.
Amazing food in a cool party of town.
Food was delicious but I have never been rushed so fast through dinner. I got a text an hour prior to reservation telling me not to be late. I arrived 10 minutes early and they had us done in 40 minutes...bottle of wine, appetizer, and dinner for three. And we did not order the cheapest entrees either. With so many other great choices in NYC I would not go back.
The only place I'd be willing to brave NYC winter for
Heerlijk eten, perfecte smaken, hele goede service! Meer dan de moeite waard
Nice friendly place. All of us enjoyed our food. Wait staff were attentive but not intrusive.
We stopped here after a show in the East Village and were seated right away at a table by the front windows. Had a very nice meal – very responsive and quick service, good food, nice drinks, and live music through the meal at a reasonable volume. We were old enough to be the parents of everyone in the place, but didn't feel awkward or out of place at all.
The food was divine, atmousphere was lovely, live music was perfect and the service was so lovely. W
I would certainly go back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a trendy resteraunt.
Delicious. Great service. Busy but we weren't rushed out.
Only downside was it was VERY noisy.
Perfect restaurant for a casual dinner with great food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. Will definitely be going back!
We were visiting New York and wanted a casual place to meet friends for brunch. Epistrophy was perfect, we sat in the front window for 2 hours eating and talking and the staff were so nice and accommodating. The food is delicious and eclectic, we tried almost everything and loved it all. We look forward to returning on our next trip.
My friend and I went to Epistrophy on Sunday for brunch. The staff was amazing. So kind and attentive. The place small and cozy. I love the decor. The food was fantastic. I just found this place on Open Table because i need a place that would take reservation. I am so happy I found Epistrophy. I can't wait to go back. I had the Poached Eggs and Creamy Polenta and my friend had the Frittata. Both were fantastic. I couldn't stop looking at this cake on the bar counter. Our server told me it was new on the menu and she said it was delicious and she did not steer us wrong. She gave us an extra large slice because we were sharing. Super generous of her. It was made with orange, rosemary olive oil pound cake with an orange flavores glaze. It was sooo good! Honestly, the food is fantastic but really the staff makes you feel so welcomed. Almost as if you were at a friends home. I am so happy to have found Epistrophy.
Very nice restaurant. Super fresh food, ranging from salads to pasta (as tasty as my grandma’s one). The lunch was one of the best we had during our stay in NY. An absolute must do!
Epistrophy has an intimate feeling with good service & food but the best part was the great indoor/outdoor ambiance & fun bar scene.
The service was deplorable. It was not even too crowded. No excuse. Our waitress was inattentive. Half the time the busboy was coming over and he did not really understand what we needed. Disappointing!!
What a great little neighborhood restaurant! A casual, cozy restaurant with exceptional food. Everything is fresh and staff is so accommodating.
I love this restaurant! It has a unique charm that is rare in the city. They have live music at times, which is amazing! The food is excellent!
Epistrophy is a cute little restaurant that I can definitely recommend. I met a friend for dinner here on a Wednesday night and we were very impressed with both the food and service. We arrived at the restaurant around 6:30pm and since it was such a beautiful night we wanted to sit outside. Unfortunately, no outdoor tables were open at the time, but we were told if we waited about 30 minutes one would become available. We sat at the bar and had a delicious cocktail. Sure enough in 30 minutes a delightful outdoor table opened up. To start with we split the burrata, which was scrumptious and fresh. For our entrees, we both had the Cacio E Pepe, which was so amazing that I wanted more. Overall, the food was terrific and the service was good as well. I would gladly return to Epistrophy for another meal.
Good brunch menu, good food, really like the atmosphere and decoration of the place!
Amazing food in my favorite neighborhood. The menu is fantastic; there's something for everyone. A great go-to for friends, or date night (though not first date).
The food was just mediocre. The focaccia presented in a basket for the table was terrible and aft r one bite I put it down - and I'm a big focaccia fan. The spaghetti Nero with mussels tasted okay, but the entree portion was appetizer sized and so what seemed like a good value wasn't. I have never before arrived home from a dinner at an Italian restaurant hungry. Definitely won't return.
Great service, great atmosphere, mediocre food at best. One course was so highly overseasoned it was returned and the Hanger Steak was fine... but nothing special. Felt like a basic home meal that I could have made far better. Perhaps they had an off night, it happens... but won't be returning any time soon.
GREAT spot in Nolita. It's been around a while, I think, but I somehow had never been until last week. SO many things on the menu looked delicious and I was really happy with everything I tried (their pasta dishes are reeeeeaaaally good).
I will be back!
Overall, just alright experience. The atmosphere was darling but when it's 95 plus degrees in the city, if you don't have air conditioning it's hard to feel super comfortable in a restaurant (especially when closer to the kitchen). Food was pretty good (nothing to write home about, but tasty) and they had a nice selection of wines. I'll go back, but either aim for a patio seat, or wait til the fall
Great experience, beautiful space, tasty food. Neighbourhood is fun as well, would return and recommend to others. Had the eggs and zucchini fritters, eggs and polenta, and lemon ricotta pancakes. Flavours on point and portions were great. Pricing was also reasonable.
I love Epistrophy, and I’ve used it for so many occasions. Brunch with a friend? Check. Drinks with a former coworker? Check. Cozy date? Check.
Their food is fantastic, drinks are fantastic, tiramisu is life changing, and when it’s warm they open the windows so you get open air cuteness. Servers are so nice and vibe is intimate and not noisy for such a small space.
Nice selection of entrees and pastas. The burrata was great. It would be nice if there were a few more Sardinian inspired things maybe seadas.... Always yummy
The ambience of the restaurant is very nice - it feels comfortable and a bit romantic. The food was solid & the service was friendly. I'd come back, but it doesn't necessarily stand out from other Italian restaurants in the area.
Lovely Sunday evening Jazz
Cute hip village restaurant. Excellent friendly service. Our appetizers were really fabulous - zucchini fritters and a snap pea salad and some bruschetta (we were hungry) but I would say our entrees were sort of blah - or at least mine was - the gnocchi. It was also kind of noisy - I think just bad accoustics. Still a nice place with cool healthy food and great staff and I would go again.
