Epic Restaurant - Fairmont Royal York Ratings and Reviews
The appetizer was octopus which was so tender. This dish also contain sausage, baby potato bits and few other ingredients plus a yummy sauce. I love octopus and this disk was extremely well executed. Mains were scallops and duck breast. As always, both were perfectly cooked. The duck was especially good with subtle flavouring. The sommelier recommended the Flowers chardonnay from California and it was a perfect match to both dishes. Service was great as always. We love coming back to EPIC and it never disappoints.
The New Year's Eve event was well planned and the meal was delicious. The service was impeccable. The band was very enjoyable.
My only regret is that the restaurant allowed dogs on the premise. The guests, next table over, let their white fluffy dog out of their pet carrier. The couple even danced with the dog in their arms. Not so sanitary so close to the chocolate dessert table !!!
The Fairmont Royal York Hotel was selected as the venue for our annual family Christmas dinner because of its' ambiance, beautifully decorated and festive! Epic has an open concept floor plan which allows you to enjoy a view of the hotel lobby from your table. Dinner was incredible, the selections were amazing, the food fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. Our table was situated in a well sized circular alcove giving us as much privacy as the private dining room off to the side but with the added bonus of decorative columns, it really was spectacular! There were one or two things about this visit I wish I did not have to mention though, the first was my upholstered seat was caked with whatever the previous guests had for dinner, I'm guessing a child sat there before me and it was simply overlooked, the second item was the recommendation by the server to order a selection medium rare as opposed to what our guest requested; rare. That was a wrong recommendation. Third; there was a hair stuck inside of the champagne flute, it wasn't noticeable until the Chambord was added prompting the glass to be returned, we had to request the Chambord be topped up as well. For the most part it was a splendid evening with a few exceptions, the thing is, with the cost of enjoying this restaurant one would think that there would be no exceptions. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
Terrific food, service that was attentive without being intrusive. A lovely place to eat, especially if you want to carry on a conversation with the others at your table. Yes, there is music playing in the background but playing softly. Epic is a very good place to dine with grown ups.
Everything was good. Food was great, all servers are very friendly and nice. Atomosphire was cozy. Even they prepared a nice little gift for my colleague who was a birthday girl. Everything was great until the last moment.
When we asked the bills, it took over 40 minutes to get the payment done since they needed a manager’s approval or something to use a card machine. We were there for birthday lunch at lunch break. We had to rush to go back to an office. That’s why I marked 4 stars for overall.
We would much appreciate it if you could manage to use card machine a bit more conveniently.
I will go back to the restaurant in near future though.
Expensive for mediocre food and ambience. Went to Epic with a group of friends on a Thursday night. Food was decent but not outstanding. One of our group was vegan, and the chef created a customised risotto which was a little bland but otherwise ok. The restaurant was only half-full while we were there but the service was surprisingly inconsistent - our waiter was helpful when we had access to him but we did have to actively flag him down a couple of times. Overall, an ok but not inspiring evening was capped off with a bill that would not have been out of place at a Michelin restaurant. I'm willing to pay for great service and food, and was anticipating a steeper bill than usual because it caters mainly to hotel clientele, but $70+ for a bland green risotto and a single drink seemed a little excessive, given how many better places are all around. Won't be back again.
We had a brunch with 6 people to celebrate our daughter's university graduation. Admittedly, it is a lot harder to show off a restaurant's cuisine at a brunch. Our food was good (my husband and I had the steak), but it was not overly creative or dazzling. It also took 50 minutes from being seated to being served, which we thought was a tad long. The location in the historical Fairmont Royal York Hotel is nice for photo taking, but the actual restaurant is decorated in a transitional style.
I had lunch with my friend from Japan.
I enjoyed "Quick Fire Grilled Tuna & Atlantic Salmon".
This dish was incredible!!
This was like Japanese "Tataki", but original taste.
Soy sauce dressing and crispy garlic!
It was sooooo delicious!
As a Japanese, I can say this is one of a kind that many Japanese love.
THE WORST THANKSGIVING EXPERIENCE EVER‼‼
Me and my bestie had thanksgiving dinner @ epic restaurant. We were so excited about this place coz it's inside the 5 star Royal York Hotel. For a set dinner priced at $89 - more expensive than any other Thanksgiving set dinner offered in most restaurants in toronto - you would no doubt expect to receive a dining experience more superior than at any other places. However I can bluntly tell you the experience we had tonight was way worse than even eating at a fast food restaurant
After we get seated and provided water, I told the waiter we are ready to order and all of us are starving. he has disappeared for more than 20 mins, during the time we tried to wave to him. But got totally ignored.
One of my friends ordered a glass of rose wine, she asked twice and finally got it when we having the main course. When the waiter was taking away the dessert plate and cleaning the table, I asked him to bring the bill, by that time we were the only table in our area, 15 mins past, no one brings any bill, so we have to wave to him again and got ignored again. Another 10 mins past, my friend shout to the waiter "excuse me, bill please".
And we finally got our bill.
The food was ok.
The service is really horrible, the Worst on the planet !
Will Never Ever go back again and surely will NOT recommend it to any of my friend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our special meal at Epic. We were welcomed graciously and attended to by our wait staff.
The food was exquisite and we really enjoued the local offerings.
We requested a special table through our Open Table reservation and were very delighted with what we were offered.
An absolutely perfect meal for our special celebration! Thank you!!!!
The food and service and ambiance were all fantastic, but something puzzled me. It's a situation I have never experienced in a restaurant before; the hostess seemed very reluctant to get the check to our table when we were finished! No waiter was coming anywhere near us, and even after I went to the desk to ask for the check we waited and waited and waited. In the end I had to go to the desk again and paid the bill there. If guests are required to pay at the reception desk, perhaps we should be told in advance. Other than this, all the staff were very kind and accommodating. Thanks.
