Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful setting- mountain background, overlooking pool yet far enough to avoid distraction. Profound landscaping, superb ambiance!
Delicious salmon & steak
Delightful strawberry jalapeño margarita
Do not forget the desserts
It was a really busy night when I was there with colleagues so the service was a little slow, but the food was outstanding and well worth the wait! The steaks were perfectly cooked and sooooo delicious! The scallop tacos were the perfect size. I was envious of my colleague's salmon because it looked awesome too.
This place may be a bit out of your way, but it is well worth the drive.
We've always had great food and great service at Epazote, but last night was off. We had early reservations. The place was nearly empty but the full complement of wait staff was there. And yet our server was anywhere else but at our table or at other customers tables. Lime and chili chicken had no lime or chili flavor and the chicken seemed to be low quality. Hopefully this was a one time miss and not a turn for the worse.
First of all don't depend on your GPS to find this restaurant. I'll tell you if you go in the lobby of the hotel and go to the right, you will see the restaurant almost to the back around a corner on your left. Your GPS will bring you to the wrong building for some reason. Tried 3 dif GPS with all the same results.
With that being said, when we finally got there we were seated immediately and our water glasses filled soon after that. We ordered the braised beef short rib and babyback ribs and a salad to go with each meal (salads do not come with your meal). Both dishes were delish, especially the beef. Babyback ribs came with green chilies mac and cheese which was dry and tasteless. Beef came with squash puree smear and grilled asparagus and was full of nice flavor. Both meats were cooked to perfection.
Waitress was new but she was very friendly and if she didn't know something she would get the answer and come right back. Seemed like all the servers were very attentive to their diners.
We even had the manager/owner, I'm thinking owner come to our table and see how are dining experience was. Nice touch.
A little pricey but we'll worth it. I would recommend this place to my friends only after giving them directions on how to find it.
My wife and I were seated immediately on the patio by a very nice hostess. The waitress was attentive and efficient, and the food was delicious (we split a salad, and we had the trout, and the pasta with shrimp). There were several good options for wines by the glass and by the bottle.
The service started out great, then became nonexistent after our food arrived. In the end, we had to track down the waiter to get our bill. The crab avocado stack appetizer was perfect. My NY Strip, ordered as medium-rare, came out as medium, and my wife's meal came out about 5 minutes after mine - which was awkward. The valet was awesome.
We were seated fully 20+ minutes before anyone came to our table and that was only after I called over the hostess and asked if anyone had been assigned to our table. Oops, but no apology. I even had reservations. I would think that meant we had also reserved a server not just a table. The food was very good.
This is the main restaurant inside the Hilton el Conquistador. Do not bother. The food is below average. Even Margarita had to be sent back. Very sad since a beautiful location. Service was good, but doesn't make up for the food. There are many good places to eat in Tucson like Hacienda del Sol
Stop at the restaurant for dinner with business colleagues following a late arrival. The beer and wine selection was not overly broad but offered something for every taste. Dinners range from casual (Burger) to fine dining (grilled salmon) and everyone felt their meal met expectations. Friendly staffed kept the meal on pace but did not rush us even though it was close to closing time. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are staying at the hotel.
We used to eat here nearly every trip to Tucson, but we probably won't anymore unless we are staying at the hotel. We are really not crazy about the new menu and the food we had was just ok. I ordered the baby back ribs. I loved the sauce, but the ribs were tough. I had to use a knife to get the meat off the bones.
We chose Epazote because of a nice writeup on their website and a menu which included a tasty sounding vegan entree.
We made a reservation, mentioned we would order a seafood entree and the vegan entree, and that we were celebrating my husband's 94th birthday. Fortunately, the restaurant did call to let us know the menu was changed and they no longer had that vegan entree, but could make one of the new menu items vegan.
After we arrived, were seated and placed our orders, we waited about 20 minutes for the wine and bread to be served. The mussels entree was acceptable, nothing to write home about. The veganized entree, an enchilada stuffed with vegetables with the cheese left out, was under-seasoned and uninteresting. Service was pleasant but not knowledgeable and very slow.
When we mentioned the birthday again, thinking perhaps a cupcake and candle might appear, the server asked if we wanted to order dessert and brought the dessert menu. We declined.
