A birthday and a great time!
This was my first time dining here. We started with a drink on the rooftop, which was great and even though it was a little chilly out, the atmosphere was comfortable.
The food and drink in the restaurant was great. It’s kind of Asian Fusion, with some distinctly Asian dishes and some more Western with an Asian twist.
Definitely recommend the lambs neck and beef short rib. Both were amazing!
This experience was terrible - I put in the reservation it was for special occasion. We were seated right next to the server's station, with servers physically bumping into our table and talking loudly next to our table. Two tables down there was an open table, which had been sitting open for 15-20 minutes. We asked server who quipped the hostess would not allow us to move. We had to talk to a manager to finally be moved - why the hassle? Because it was a different server's section and thus they were reluctant to move us. I would never recommend this place, for the hype and waitlist and price, the service should be reflective.
Food was fantastic, service terrific ... but the noise level was SONIC on a Saturday night, due in no small part to be music being CRANKED to eleven. No. Really ELEVEN. Was that really necessary? I mean, if your fantasy is to try to dine and enjoy conversation in an environment that's at dance club level for noise, this is your place! But I'm not a fan of either trying to eat on a dance floor or trying to dance while I'm eating ... so .. turn down the volume a bit, please? And thanks!
The staff was a nicer than the reviews I had read. The atmosphere was a little more simple in person. The worst part was the food made us sick. It’s good to try once but I won’t be a repeat customer.
The Kokoda is highly recommended. It was awesome. The grilled kingfish salad unfortunately not so much.
The door and host staff are extremely rude. We asked for a table, waited 40 minutes past the reservation time only to be seated at the bar. The hostesses were very curt and unkind when inquiring about the table.
Very ordinary food for LA. quite overrated. Compared to Miami restaurants which we are used to this was somewhat limited and boring. We ordered what we were told was close to a hot soup and it turned out to be fish ceviche. Lot of room for improvement. Ambience was nice on the rooftop. Service was spotty no followup about whether we liked the plates or needed anything more
The food and drinks are great. But the service is downright neglectful.
Brought my boyfriend for his birthday thinking I would give him a great Asian fusion experience, instead we got a menu with which had most of the known meals missing like the oysters!?! We originally went there for the oysters so I was disappointed but that wasn’t the only part. Not only did we not get good service, we didn’t even get napkins for our laps or to clean ourselves, they didn’t have bread or cheese for the pasta or anything good!!! I was so embarrassed in front of my bf. I was hyped up about going to EP but I will definitely not be returning and I would NOT recommend this red
vibrant, pretty, creative asia centered menu, small but thoughtful wine list, most plates designed for sharing, reasonable prices, knowledgable, friendly and professional service, really hits on all cylinders. Reminded us of Asia de Cuba in its heyday. All good.
Service staff were a little over attentive but did a wonderful job. A great venue
Loved everything we ordered. A favourite restaurant and will definitely be back!
Delicious food and a great experience overall!
I made a reservation Friday evening for 8:30. Arrived exactly at 8:30 and was told to wait by the bar for the table to become ready. We had 2 rounds of drinks and waited for 35 minutes. After asking twice if our table was ready, The Hostess was very kind and super apologetic and took us to a table in a walkway that we had been standing next to for the last 35 minutes. Shortly after being seated the manager came by and apologized and asked us if there was anything he could do, and he comped a round of drinks for us. Ive had this same type of experience at a few other restaurants around the Melrose area that like to overbook and keep people huddled at a very crowded bar. Not cool. Our waitress was very kind but seemed to be in a rush and only took an order from one of us and ran off. Very odd. When our appetizers and dinner arrived there was a foul odor because The Eggroll's and White Fish were fried in old oil. We couldn't of asked for our check any quicker and went to another restaurant to eat.
This is a great place for date night or a special meal with friends. Amazing seafood options. You must try the kokoda.
Came here for dinner on a Monday, customer service was good. The food took a little long and was not that appetizing. My partner ordered the mussels, which took a while and they were half empty. The bar upstairs was awesome and had a cozy vibe. Not coming back for the food, maybe for a night out or an event.
Group of friends came here for sunday brunch. Bottomless mimosas and palomas from 1-3pm. food was really tasty too and surprisingly inexpensive for the area (steak and eggs $17). After lunch we continued our sunday funday at their rooftop bar, which is one of the best outdoor spaces in LA for drinks. Really enjoyed it!
Always a great time, love to bring my out of town guest there to get the LA vibe.
Had very good appetizers but when main dishes didn't arrive for 25 minutes, we canceled order and left. However, the manager was very nice and generous.
Good food, service OK, very very noisy.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for so know what you're going after. I you're looking to get 'into the mix' at a trendy Hollywood restaurant with plenty of eye-candy then this fits the mold.
The food was well prepared, once again know what you're getting so check out the menu online to see if it's your style. Some dishes are very spicy but very good. There were five of us at the table and tried 5 different things, everyone was pleased, we ordered 2nd rounds on a couple. The server was busy as he had multiple tables but was very attentive and charismatic. Sometimes the stress of the evening makes servers give the impression you're burdening them by asking for more water, but he was great.
The roof bar is the headliner, it gets full but that's what you would should expect for the area. The view is king, the bar is live, music is a little loud, we were there on a Friday night but the wait time for drinks was less that you would expect. I read on Yelp that the drinks for terrible, not true. The drinks were made well, strong, a little more pricey than other compeers, around $15.
No rude bartenders, or security, everyone was polite even when they asked you to step to the side of the 'bartenders path'. I was concerned, as I read about rude doormen, weak drinks, and bad service, the last thing you want when dining with clients. We didn't get any of that and I'm kind of a hard consumer who believes if you pay for a night out you shouldn't have to "plead" for a good experience. To surmise, I would go here again.
The food is great, good portion and very tasty. Cocktail also very interesting, will definitely come again.
I came here to have a nice family dinner, and per usual, the food, service and ambiance were top notch. The food was delicious and fresh, the cocktails were extremely tasty, and the service as flawless. I will certainly be having dinner here again.
We had to wait for about 30 minutes to get our table. And the seats are very uncomfortable. Food is very tasty but has a lot of sugar.
Staff has too much attitude for their own good.
We were unfortunately sat 45 minutes late, but the service from there on out was beyond great.
Our first time for dinner at this bustling restaurant; We thought the food was very tasty and well prepared. I can especially recommend the crispy pork ribs as a starter and the excellent mussels and fried rice as a main course. It was a little noisy as the restaurant filled up so I would come early with a reservation for quiet conversation.
They sat us at a bad table and wouldn’t move us even though there were tons of open tables.
Visited LA and chose this restaurant for one of our dinners, big mistake! Our waitress did not refill our drinks, the dish descriptions are extremely misleading, and our waitress basically ignored us until we stopped her after 30 minutes of sitting and not touching our food because we were done eating. What could have been a 45 minute dinner ending up lasting an hour and 30 minutes because of horrible service.
The food at ep is delicious and the service is great. The restaurant is so loud it’s actually very difficult to have a conversation. We were 5 people and I could only talk (yell) to the people in either side of me. I would frequent ep more often if it weren’t so loud!
Love E.P+L.P - great vibe. Diverse menu...something for everyone!
Restaurant was very understaffed for Sunday brunch. It took a very long time for service, but the manager comp’d our second round of drinks to make up for it. Food was very tasty.
I was asked 3 times about my reservation. First by security outside. In addition they carded me. I’m 54, that was ridiculous- I wasn’t going to the rooftop bar. We were then seated at the counter. We were not given the option for a table until I questioned our maitre di after she led us to the counter. Her comment was did we want to wait longer? Our reservation was at 7:45, we were seated at 8:09. I thought her attitude was atrocious. Our waiter was not attentive. The two positives was the pastry chef who seemed more helpful than our waitress and a busboy who showed me another bathroom.
We love Shandel!
One of my neighborhood go to restaurants. I love the food, the drinks, and the service is always great!
Perhaps it was an off day, but the service was lacking--and the meal was lackluster. Even my drink was not good.
It's a fun place to eat. Very interesting dishes. It's noisy so lean in close for conversations.
