Eolus Bar & Dining Ratings and Reviews
My partner and I probably eat at Eolus twice a month.
The staff is always very friendly, but not consistently attentive. To be fair, there isn't a restaurant in Durango that has staff that could come close to my expectations of service in a larger city. I guess that's the trade-off of living in a smaller town.
The food is always well prepared. Several of the staff are Gluten-Free so most of the menu items are as well, which is great for me. I do wish they would change up the menu more frequently.
I recommend the Quinoa and Roasted veggies.
Visitors form out of town please note, like most restaurants around here Eolus is sometimes open odd hours and close earlier than you may expect. I would call ahead before dropping in.
Got the surf and turf. Couldn't be more disappointed. Was expecting at leaSt 8oz lobster tail and it was maybe 4oz. The steak was tiny as well. We also got the chicken which was way over seasoned but a large portion. The rest was basic service for top dollar. I will probably not try it ever again and I would suggest the same for you. Much better values and tastes in Durango.
Arguably one of the best meals ever. Easily top ten and possibly top five. Food and drink was excellent. Service was spot on, refreshingly attentive without a hint of pretentiousness. Austyn was delightful and made wonderful recommendations. I look forward to my next trip to Durango.
From the Thai Martinis, the sushi with bacon appetizers to the main course including the lobser mashed potatoes and chai tea creame Brule for dessert it was all totally Amazing. And the roof top patio provided a great view for the fireworks that were going on that evening. Highly recommend as long as you're prepared for a couple hundred dollar tab.
Everything was fantastic minus the service. It took over 30 minutes to receive our appetizer and the table next to us arrive 20 minutes after we arrived and received the same appetizer we had ordered before ours. After the we received our appetizer, it was spot on for the rest of the evening.
Eolus is culinary art and rapidly ascending in quality. The hanger steak is second to none. There must be a black market for their mashed potatoes, they’re that good! Beignets with lemon curd is inventive and exceptionally good. The pumpkin macaroons are awesome. The wine list is loaded with affordable, top wines. I love dining here. James Allred and the entire staff do things you simply won’t experience anywhere else.
Really appreciated our server Barney guiding us with wine recommendations. Great wine list. Interesting locally sourced food. Beet salad with goat cheese very refreshing and delicious. Asian fusion King salmon was amazing. Wonderful desserts. Looking forward to returning!
We come here every time we are in town (1x a month) with our kids (12, 10, 9). The food is five star...order anything with lobster! Comes with this beurre Blanc sauce that is delicious. Hubby always gets Manhattan and lobster burger. I always get the cab by the glass (changes often—high quality $20 by the glass) and the seafood stew which is loaded with lobster, mussels, salmon etc.—Divine. This last time I got the surf and turf which was equally incredible. Kids get the lobster served corn dog style, the kids salmon and kids burger respectively. The service is always top notch. If you come early they have their sushi rolls on happy hour. It’s a treat we save up for both calorie wise and pocketbook wise. But there is nowhere else we would rather eat in Durango.
Menu is always inventive. Service is excellent and appropriately attentive. The owners are serious about creating and executing a dining experience that is unique. They consistently pull it off. This is our favorite place in a town blessed with wonderful dining options.
Great craft cocktails. There was a wide range of creative appetizers ranging from lobster corn dogs to sushi. There were a lot of gluten free options or adaptations available. The wine list is outstanding and includes wines that are difficult to find. We had an outstanding French Burgundy recommended by the owner. Service is prompt, and attentive without being overbearing. The entrees were great as were the deserts. The restaurant adds there own twist to nearly everything on the menu. This is one of the finest restaurants anywhere.
The food was really wonderful, but a bit pricey. Service was attentive, but we waited almost 35 minutes for our appetizer. The staff did offer bread-nice, but the restaurant really wasn’t that busy. Didn’t seem we should have to wait quite that long. We all enjoyed our food and overall, it was a very pleasant dining experience!
Food was excellent as always. One of our favorite places to go. Service that s time was mediocre at best. Our waiter didn't seem attentive at all. We don't want a waiter that is overbearing, but a waiter that pays attention is always a plus... This was not the case. Never once asked us if we would like more wine after our glasses were empty. Didn't even ask if we would like bread until a minute before we got our food. Every other table around us were asked if they wanted bread right away and fresh bread was brought to them through out. A large group was sat near us and as soon as that group was sat, all of our waiters attention was on that group.
When I tip, I believe a tip is earned...that being said, the tip left reflected the service received and was still too much.
Every other visit, the waiter or waitress have been excellent and even remember us. Only hope our next visit we get one of those again and only hope the service is better next time.
This is an epic meal. The hanger steak and sauce are culinary art at its best. Best greens on the planet. Recommended wine by the owner was a perfect pairing. And the chai tea creme brûlée was inventive and wonderful and it was all I could do not to lick the bowl clean. If you’re in Durango you’re missing out if you’re not eating here.
