Eolus Bar & Dining Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent as always. One of our favorite places to go. Service that s time was mediocre at best. Our waiter didn't seem attentive at all. We don't want a waiter that is overbearing, but a waiter that pays attention is always a plus... This was not the case. Never once asked us if we would like more wine after our glasses were empty. Didn't even ask if we would like bread until a minute before we got our food. Every other table around us were asked if they wanted bread right away and fresh bread was brought to them through out. A large group was sat near us and as soon as that group was sat, all of our waiters attention was on that group.
When I tip, I believe a tip is earned...that being said, the tip left reflected the service received and was still too much.
Every other visit, the waiter or waitress have been excellent and even remember us. Only hope our next visit we get one of those again and only hope the service is better next time.
This is an epic meal. The hanger steak and sauce are culinary art at its best. Best greens on the planet. Recommended wine by the owner was a perfect pairing. And the chai tea creme brûlée was inventive and wonderful and it was all I could do not to lick the bowl clean. If you’re in Durango you’re missing out if you’re not eating here.
The $50 per plate steak special was inedible, it was so tough and stringy.
When asked how everything was, we told the server that the meat was very tough. She asked if we wanted anything else and my wife asked for more mashed potatoes. They charged us extra for them!
Dinner for two was over $150 for the worst meal we've ever had.
Never go back.
Had dinner with friends and everything was wonderful. Highly recommend the seafood stew. So creative and flavorful with lobster, scallops, and lots of other seafood. Very delicate broth seasoned with fennel. As good as anything in NYC. If you have room, have the donuts for dessert. They are really a treat! The calamari is a great appetizer to share. Bon Apetit!
Wonderful Happy Hour menu - One of the best in town! Gluten Free hamburger buns are made on the premises and are THE BEST I've ever tasted! Eolus's Steaks are so delicious! Their sushi and warm beet salad are fabulous, too! The Staff could not be more cordial. Seriously, just an all around great place to eat and the prices are very reasonable!
I've probably written 10 reviews of Eolus over the years. It's out favorite restaurant in Durango. This time I had the Salmon with Asian Bar-b-que sauce. Second time I've had this at Eolus, and let me just pause for a second.....and remember.....and say....."Ahhhhhhhh". It was SO DANG GOOD!! The Salmon came from Silver Wave, a local couple who catch salmon in Alaska each year and sell locally. My wife and I bought 10 lbs......and damned if I wouldn't like to buy a bunch of Eolus Bar-b que sauce......it was that good!
We ate at Eolus for my wife's birthday dinner. Driving from Cortez we were really hoping it was worth our trip. They greeted us with a Happy Birthday wish and had a table set up for us. Our server was very friendly and on top of everything. The food was excellent! We will definitely be going back!
My husband and I love Eolus. I ordered the Burger and Lobster Tail. Really it was not a lobster tail. It was a shredded piece of lobster but certainly no tail. I like the restaurant and usually have good meals there, but don't say you are going to have a lobster tail when it is only a piece. That just makes me feel like I was ripped off.
Superb in every aspect. Sushi roll and calamari starters were wonderful. 4 separate entrees were phenomenal. Only negative was from daughter in law who thought dressing on hanger steak greens was too much. Probably the best duck breast ever for me. Wife really loved the salmon and our son was enthralled with the seafood stew.
Chocolate Trio dessert was truly outstanding. Lemon curd with gluten free donuts was over the top but the beignets were so-so. Great service from Eric who explained the dishes very well. A definite must return restaurant on our list.
Usually we are wowed by Eolus's food and presentation, but this trip not so much. Nothing was "bad", and our service was very good....but we all felt the food lacked the individual touch that is usually present. Hopefully this was just an "off" night....we'll try again!
We celebrated our anniversary at Eolus. They always take such great care of us but they treated us even more extra special. Food is always consistent and excellent. My husband had prime rib two ways and I had seafood capellini. A special dessert was excellent and we always have the scalllop and prime rib appetizer. Outstanding. Best restaurant and best servers in Durango!!!!
We were staying in the Durango area and decided to give this restaurant a try. We were very pleased with the food and service. My wife really enjoyed the beet salad and the scallop appetizer. I had the seafood stew which was very tasty. About the only issue was the price of wine and cocktails. I know this is where restaurants make most of their money. But $15 for a glass of a red blend was a bit too much.
The food was very good. I had the Surf and Turf, my wife had the Grilled Salmon. Both of our waitresses (Austin & Kacey) were very nice, attentive, and very proficient. It was a very memorable experience for a special occasion (51st Wedding Anniversary) Will definitely go back when in the area.
Very happy we made reservations on a busy Fri evening, we were squeezed into a small table in an aisle way in the upstairs section. The food here is upscale fabulous and definitely worth a visit. My swordfish was good with a really great sauce. My wife's duck was over the top delicious. Great wine list, full bar and good bread made in house. All the best ingredients sourced locally as much as possible.
My husband and I stopped in Durango for the night while on our way to the Grand Canyon . We saw that Eolus had received good reviews so we decided to try it. Everything about our experience was fabulous! Our server was top notch. He recommended that we start with the appetizer special, which was stuffed squash blossoms. They were fantastic! My husband had halibut and I had A wonderful beet salad for dinner. All of the food is local and everything is made right there. They have a great wine and beer selection. We really hope we will be able to pass through Durango and visit Eolus again.
