We never dined at Eolo. We made a reservation for Restaurant Week via Open Table. We were excited to try a restaurant that we had not been to before. When we showed up we found a sign on the door suggesting that we try their sister restaurant Pastai. Eolo had gone out of business. We went to Pastai expecting that they were participating in Restaurant Week also but they were not. We stayed and did dine there because we had been there before and knew that it was good and did not want to search for another restaurant. The meal was very good as expected. I initiated a conversation with the manager and he apologized. Our coffee was comped from our bill but we left feeling disappointed and deceived. This is basically "Bait and Switch" advertising. I don't understand how Open Table can advertise a restaurant on their website that is out of business. Was it the restaurant that initiated this deception or Open Table? I anticipate your reply!

We left after fifteen minutes. No waiter. No bartender. No host. Don't bother.

The food is first rate - Sicilian - a lighter, fresher Italian. The staff are friendly and willing to assist with wine selections. Don't be put off by the drab, small decor. The food would not be out of place at much grander location.

The food was true to Sicilian cooking. Pasta Con Sarde, Panelles and Caponata were outstanding. Nice neighborhood crowd and the Hostess was very attentive around the room. A good meal and a good time.

We enjoyed our time and look forward to coming back again.

Acceptable food. Salad was good but pasta with clams was overcooked. Clams were not the little ones (vongole) that I expected. Disappointing.

Eolo is a great Italian restaurant.

The food is always fresh and perfectly prepared.

I love the prosciutto, caprese, gnocchi, and ravioli.

Great Sicilian meal in the heart of Chelsea. The bar has amazing happy hour specials with tapas at $5 and happy hour all night at the bar. I have never actually sat at the bar, but the dining experience is that much more comfortable, so both were unexpected great finds for me. The wine listasting has something for everyone and they give you after dinner drinks , limoncello etc on the house. My first meal here was with a group and the second with one other person. I would highly recommend the location for any occassion. The menu is very diverse and tasty.

Great service, great authentic Sicilian food, & good value / atmosphere!

A surprising Sicilian find and so convenient to the Irish Repertory Theater. Interesting menu and reasonable prices. The Arrancini was an especially tasty appetizer.

Menu has authentic Sicilian food which is a change of pace- the stuffed swordfish was delicious and the day's special of stuffed red pepper was savory. Not as happy with the Pasta Le Sarde but that may be personal taste
Save room for the cheese plate as it features some regional cheeses you will not easily find elsewhere

Real neighborhood/Sicilian feel. The gnocchi is amazing so is the ricotta bruschetta. Very friendly service.

Love everything about EOLO --the staff welcoming, warm, and friendly. The food is excellent. I have never been disappointed.

This is the second time we have dined at Eolo. Food and service are exceptional. I will return and recommend it to friends and family.

We went with two authentic Italian's and they deemed the food authentic. We were treated very well and some of the staff/customer interchange was conducted in Italian. We plan to return.

Food was very good - more authentic Italian than most which are usually Italian/American. Interesting preparations at fair prices. Staff very friendly.

This is the best place for pasta in the city - bar none. Authentic Sicilian with many local and organic ingredients and finest EVOO from Sicily. Staff could not be more pleasant and professional. Good value too. fantastic wines by glass including several organic ones from the old country. Recommended.

Food here is the focal point. Really excellent. Could have a little better price point, but I won't complain.

Food was good but nothing special in prep or presentation. The service was bipolar. The manager played the sommelier. Eolo is a Sicilian restaurant so he knew the sun and the sea and the volcanic rock rap about Sicilian wine. He was cordial and feigned at formality. The waiter was patient and efficient. The bussing and secondary servers were more lax. Where the waiter served the plates from the proper side of each diner the servers who bussed and poured water and delivered small plates for dessert annoyingly reached across diners and the table. The nearby bar was populated by profane drunks with the obligatory shouting of their conversation. All in all, the Eolo experience wasn't regrettable but it doesn't earn a repeat visit.

Wonderful little find in Chelsea. Food was excellent , service was great and the prices were reasonable.

My first visit to Eolo was wonderful. What a lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated, friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The brunch menu is filled with so many choices and at a reasonable price. Will be going back soon.

The menu sounded so good, but unfortunately we were very disappointed by the experience. Overall I felt like it had its heyday 20 years ago and hasn't done anything to stay current. The decor was tired, the preparations were bland, and the pastas (which sounded terrific) were bland and poorly cooked. The service was decent, and was attentive without being overbearing.

Fantastic very authentic Sicilian fare with top top notch ingredients. I was referred to this place by one of the organic farms which supply them and I was thrilled to now have this as a go to regular.

We have gone several times after theater at Atlantic. Very interesting food and very fresh plus interesting wine selections

EOLO sits in a pocket of a number of good restaurants. After theatre at the Irish Rep, we had great bowls of pasta, sticking to the specials of the evening. And our wonderful waiter recommended Sicilian white wines as accompaniments. Fresh cannolis for dessert. We sat outside under a scaffolding and above the subway right below us, very NYC romantic. We had a great time.

Because we travel to Sicily our expectations tend to be rather high -- the three-star rating reflects that.
However, the restaurant certainly serves food that seems based on family recipes -- the arancini were quite unique -- much less risotto and more filling. The eggplant caponata and our entrees (wild rabbit, squid ink pasta etc) were all right but not exceptional on the taste buds -- nothing on offer was particularly "seasonal" either.(The "seasonal" suffix to the name of the restaurant does raise expectations also.)
We did appreciate the happy hour drink prices.

Very disappointed. Looking for something authentic- like couscous. They served Israeli couscous! Waiter listen to my concerns but initially thought I was talking about risotto. I asked to speak to chef but he did not come out. He did send dessert .
Very pricey.Outside seating cramped and very noisy. Wanted to like this place but will not be going back.

Loved it, plain and simple

Some interesting and unusual food, carefully prepared.

Chicken was very tender although over-priced. A pet peeve of mine is the difficulty getting iced water in some restaurants. Although I specifically requested it, I got water with no ice poured from a pitcher with no ice. I did then request a glass of ice which I received. Unavailability of ice is one of the things I hate about European travel. It seems to be making it's way here and is not a welcome trend. Especially on a day with high humidity and temperatures in the 90s, I want ice water; not chilled water that quickly becomes room temperature.
