About Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Monica
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat. Also just a few blocks from the waterfront, our sister restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.

Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Monica Ratings and Reviews
I loved the relaxed atmosphere of the Enterprise Fish Company as I sat down to celebrate my birthday in this exquisite restaurant of seafood! I chose the mahi-mahi fish with sweet potatoes fries and a lobster bisque with puff pastry. The mahi-mahi fish was very tender and moist while being quite tasty in the mouth. The lobster bisque was very delicious and creamy with chunks of lobster in the bisque itself. The puff pastry was krispy on the outside and tender on the inside of it. Delicious. For dessert, I had the Enterprise Fish Company’s very own chocolate mud pie with whipped cream and a cherry. My server was impeccable. Katerina could read my body language and know what I needed without me having to verbally ask fo it. Katerina did such a spectacular job while I was enjoying my birthday celebration lunch at the Enterprise Fish Company, I ended up tipping her at 45% of my entire bill. I highly recommend everyone going to the Enterprise Fish Company!
I’ve been eating at Fish Enterprise since it opened in 1979. Lots of good times, good memories and good food! Right now my favorite is their excellent cioppino.
A bunch of years ago , I was at UCLA Hospital Pharmacy waiting to pick up meds. Some out-of-town people asked if I knew of a good seafood restaurant on the water. This threw me for a moment, because Los Angeles is sadly lacking in that category, but recommended Fish Enterprise and apologized for the lack of view. I knew that food would not disappoint.
went on a Groupon: After a bumpy start- wound up with a good dinner, and surprise - Monday night 'special' dinner deal.
Fantastic server, Brian, really took care of us. Anything we needed he was right there.
More napkins, water, lemon, butter, extra tarter. And always with a smile.
Outside seating area is very nice and cozy. Server was busy yet she never failed to provide what we asked for. Food was delish! Tried the grilled avocado (amazing!), poke, steak skewers, fish and chips, shrimp skewers, burger, risotto and kale salad. Our party of 5 left very happy!
Reservation was honoured, seated right away. Plenty of room. Quick service. All parties enjoyed their choices, both fish and beef. I took off one star because a plate was not provided for our starters. We used our bread plates and those were removed for the main course because they were no longer good for bread. This is a large, rustic styled place with a high ceiling. I haven’t been back recently and I liked the new, lighter color decor. The bar was lively too.
I have been to Enterprise on various occasions, the food and service has always been good. On this visit I was impressed though.... this was my first time using Open Table so I was a little concerned that my reservations would be valid. We got there at 7pm with a 7:30 reservation, with time to kill we hung out at the bar. At 7:15 I went to check in and they took no information from me just said come back at 7:30 and your table will be ready. I walked away like ok will see about that....7:30 came, we checked in and were immediately seated.
Great first time Open Table experience and another star added to my Enterprise list.
Seafood is the name of the game and it is delicious here. Fresh fish can be prepared to your liking. Our server, Casey, was terrific. He was very professional and extremely personal. For a special night out or just a casual dinner, the restaurant is a great selection. But be prepared for it being fairly pricey.
What a shame. Such an attractive setting, with old days charm, but food with no taste, short on staff, and things seem to be a bit in a disarray. We don't mind paying the price, but for heaven's sake, where is the management??? Does anyone care anymore? They are so obviously sleeping on their laureates.
Bring in a new dynamic manager, a good chef and get this, otherwise good place, back to its potential. It's going to b e a long, long time before we revisit this place. If by then they're still in this same rut, this is going to be it for us: "No mas!"
The food was excellent. Our server was attentive but not overpowering. We have eaten there many times over the many years and always enjoy our meals. The only reason I marked them down is value is that now they give you one basket of bread and they charge you if you want another one. The restaurant is not extremely expensive, but for the prices you pay , I think you should get more bread if you request it. Not on is the fish and seafood good, the desserts are excellent.
I arrived about 10 minutes early, but they were able to get me a booth in just a few minutes. I had an appetizer, the clam chowder and the grilled salmon. All of the food was very good. I also thought the service was outstanding. I have been to Enterprise Fish before and will definitely go back.
We were very excited to spend my daughters 16th birthday in Venice. We decided on Enterprise Fish Co, we were seated pretty quickly but we were disappointed when we were sat in the very back of the restaurant, plenty of tables in the front of the house, we were a party of 4 adults and a 16yr old.
Our server greeted us nicely then it was downhill from there. Lobster bisque with the puff pastry was half filled and filled with grease. Out waiter was nowhere to be found for at least 15 min. The food runner replaced it. Still no waiter.
I had told the waiter when we first arrived we were celebrating a birthday, he brought out the dessert and half of our party was missing, literally tossed the ice cream on the table and said, sorry no candles. The bill came, he added a party of 6 $50 surcharge.....we are a party of 5 and an additional charge for sitting in the pack of the restaurant... WHAT?? Food was over priced... service was absolutely horrible. What could’ve been a wonderful birthday dinner was a horrible experience. The manager was sympathetic to the situation and comped a bottle of wine. Unfortunately the entire situation was overshadowing the birthday celebration.
This place is gross. I used to come here a long time ago and remember really loving it. It's for sure gone down hill. Came to dinner here and had nasty oysters that were not shucked properly. Got the Branzino and the arugula salad underneath it was wilted, the fish was so salty. The happy hour is a good deal and should have probably just done that. Do not eat here if you want good seafood. It's terrible!!
The food was great, but the waitress was on top of her game.
Very sweet, attentive and professional. Took the time to explain the menu.
Recommended everything we ate and we had no disappointments.
I believed her name is Emily but most definitely go back because of her nice attitude, and I do hope to get her as a server.
A couple friends and I visited the restaurant during Dine LA week and had an incredible time! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We all got the mixed seafood skewer with twice-baked potatoes and asparagus. We also tried the lobster bisque All really yummy!
I like this place but i have to admit DineLA menu little bit disappointed me. It had a great start with delicious appetizers and labster soup but sea bass was over cooked and super dry, and rice wasn’t cooked good enough. Desert was ok. I do recommend this place for weekend brunch, they have great happy hour. And oysters are delicious!
We have been coming to this restaurant for almost 25 years.....although the food quality is good, it seems that the portions have decreased over the years....they used to allow for 2 sides if you get a piece of fish, and now down to one, and that portion is small. But the food is good.
What used to be a great place to eat is now no more than mediocre. Drabby waiters, so-so food, which requires asking waiter for spices or anything to give it taste. Even though their prices have doubled, I would not mind paying it if only the service would pick up a notch and maybe they'd hire a decent chef for a change...
Had the black cod special ($33) which came with fragrant jasmine rice (and tasted a bit perfumey), green beans and a salad. Asked for extra miso-ginger glaze, but no complaints, but nothing to write home about (or return to the restaurant for). Service (Waiter Chris) was excellent. Bread is super yummy.
Alls great to eat at Enterprise Fish, a little disappointed in the timing of my meal. We order mussels as an app and our dinner salad came out prior. Then the mussels and before we could start on the mussels our entrees arrive. Needless to say the vegetables on the entree were cold by the time we were ready to eat . While I didn’t say anything at the time, we did mention it to our waitress when we were leaving. She did recognize the timing and apologized
