Just a few blocks from the waterfront, our restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake.

Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.

Food was oversauced and way over cooked. At that price point, which is not crazy expensive but for the same price point in another restaurant you will get much higher quality. I would not return.

excellent seafood selection. food was prepared to out specifications. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated promptly at 7:30 even though there were other people waiting to be seated. We asked the waitress for her preference when we gave her a choice between a couple meal options and were not disappointed with her suggestions.

Waiter was absent and absent minded. Two items were brought to the table in error, but corrected. Otherwise we had to hunt down the waiter to get service.

Great time, great food, exceptional service. Paid 10/11 bucks for grilled artichoke with a couple of bites of choke, out of season? It tasted good but tiny and not worth it. Rest of meal was perfect!

Food was amazingly good. Cocktails even more so. Service, not so much. We didn't see our waiter once after he dropped off the food, and it took some time to find him to get our check.

Although we had a reservation, the computers weren't working. However, the hostess honored our reservation and took us right to our table. The food was delicious--especially the fish.

I was underwhelmed with the quality of the food particularly as the restaurant was very busy - typically a good sign. I had seared Ahi which was a very unusual cut - quite thin and moderate gristle. Typically Ahi is a deep red color in the uncooked part, mine was brownish. The taste was ok but not great. The other entree was Dover Sole. Again, ok but nothing to write home about.
Not a bad experience, just not a place I would go back to. I tend to be pretty easy to please so it is a little unusual for me to write this type of review. Perhaps they just had an off night.

I asked what fish is in the seafood skewers and our server said mahi mahi but salmon is what was delivered... I don’t eat salmon so I was really disappointed... I could have easily ordered something had I known... disappointed!

I told them I'm sorry I have reservations right here on my phone confirming I had dinner reservations , again well what time did you make them at? again well what time did you make them at! I'm sorry I made reservations at this restaurant not to be treated in this kind of manner! We were told that we could close early by our manager and won't be serving dinner pass this time I was told
and was handed a few free appitizer cards and out the door we went!
Not kind at all to do to anyone!

Went here for a casual seafood dinner. We ordered a special of scallops risotto and swordfish. Scallops were tasteless and risotto was a pile of rice covered in “Parmesan”. Swordfish was fine, but lacked anything memorable.

Received a side salad - excellent (you can judge the quality of the rest of the food when the best dish is a side salad!) and clam chowder (think glue used for papier-mâché.....!).

As for service, it was friendly but inept. Despite our request the papier-mâché soup was received after main course, and only received water at th third time of asking.

Judge for yourself based on the above, but I am amazed this is one of the top restaurants in SB on trippy. Avoid if you have taste buds.
