Enterprise Fish Co. - Santa Barbara
Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.
Friday - Saturday 11:30am-11pm
Love their bread and white clam chowder. Can make a meal out of it. Great everything!!!!
For a 50th Anniversary and a 1st time visit, in truth, it was splendid. My in-laws enjoyed their dinner so much, we will probably go back for lunch before we leave.
Always great and fresh fish. The local Seabass and local halibut are amazing.
Could not have been better. I so liked the dinner that I already posted how great it was. What restaurants need to
realize is that there are so many good restaurants here in
Santa Barbara that it is so important to make every effort
to make your customers feel wanted and special because
you could loose them maybe forever if they are not taken care of. I am happy to say we will be back.
GREAT meal, our server was very professional and sweet. Thanks for a good time. Ordered Mai Tai's, not so good but maybe Hawaii has spoiled me.
We've been going to Enterprise Fish Company for probably 30 years. The food is consistently good and tonight's service was exceptional!
We went with our two teenagers for supper. Enjoyed it so much booked a return later in the week. Great seafood, good lively atmosphere but not too noisy. Lovely fish tanks to look at.
Seafood was loaded with shrimp and crab in the grilled Caesar. Romaine was left on grill a tad too long than I preferred but it was a delicious meal.
The freshest fish cooked to perfection. Great service and ambience as well.
We love this restaurant and we go there all the time, but on this visit we were seated all the way in the back of the restaurant when there were plenty of tables available up front. I asked the hostess to move us, 3 people, and her response was, no those waitresses are too busy over there already. Like I said, there were many available tables and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. My advice, replace your hostess!!
Went to Enterprise for quick Happy Hour meal. Got there about 5:30 on a Tuesday. Not crowded at bar or hightops nearby. Had a Corona and an Anchor Steam although menu had a nice selection of local beers. Ordered the skirt steak satay, two skewers of steak in a very tasty Worcestershire sauce on a bed of spicy cole slaw. Very good choice. Also had two lobster rolls which were disappointing. Two dinner-size rolls with a fair sized dollop of lobster salad on each for $15. Not much there for the money.
Christal was server. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive
What a lovely place to dine! The food was delicious, the service excellent!
The amount of food was enormous the ceviche was as delish !!! The Dover sole was fresh and super tasty
We had an out of town guest visiting and had just spent the day in Los Olivos. We wanted to take him here to have the lobster bisque soup with the famously good puff pastry!
Enterprise Fish Company did not disappoint us!!
Our table was ready as upon arrival for our group of seven. Orders were promptly taken and food arrived quickly. My lobster bisque was fabulous, but I returned my lobster roll. All I could taste was the lettuce and the "roll" was overcooked. I was surprised by how small it was, but since I sent it back, it didn't matter. My son reports that his sirloin steak was okay, but a bit too chewy. The others in our party enjoyed their entrees. We ordered the lava cake/ice cream for dessert. It was smaller than expected, but quite tasty. The restaurant vibe was good.
Good food, nice atmosphere, and outstanding customer service. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
I've never seen such consistently over-cooked seafood...shrimp, both fried and grilled, had the texture of boot leather, grilled (and sauced, mind you) halibut needed a knife to cut and chewed like a well-done steak, fried scallops were like rubber and the calamari was inedible. I'm not a critical diner, but this was terrible and was probably the first time in my life that we told our waitress how poorly done the food was. Were it not for an extremely understanding manager knocking a couple apps / entres off our tab, I would have given the "overall" a 1-star. Until their kitchen learns how to cook seafood, I recommend avoiding at all costs.
Brief visit to Santa Barbara mostly work but a chance to catch up with friends. Enterprise Fish proved to be as delicious this time as it was 12 years ago. Amazing Peruvian ceviche and poke to start with. Lobster bisque report was worth every calorie. The Thai style mahi-mahi was delicious served with coconut rice, two people had the Halibut each served differently. One Parmesan one more Asian style, and one seafood risotto. Shared a chocolate tart with malted milk balls. All excellent or reported to be . Rounding it out was hot crusty bread, great people watching, lovely salt water fish tanks, great service and the company
Food is decent. Restaurant ambience is decent. Service however is a bit slow. Food is good.
Honestly can say the staff was on point for an establishment like this. Super friendly, attentive and accommodating. My I was seated for my reservation on time even though they were very busy. The food was mediocre at best, the ambiance is lackluster. I will not go back.
As always, one of the best clam chowders, and the sole was fantastic. Hard to cook fish right, and they rarely miss. One of my faves. Grandson, 19, insisted we go. He loves it too.
We met family members visiting from SF with a toddler in tow. Great service, menu and venue was perfect for families who want good seafood in a great Santa Barbara location.
We had good food but pretty poor service, which left a bad taste. We couldn’t find our waitress many times we needed her and half our salads didn’t come, our silverware wasn’t replaced when salads were taken away, and my husband was delivered the wrong martini and instead of apologizing and making him a new martini they just brought him some torn apart blue cheese olives on a toothpick to add to his original martini- very strange. We had two small kids with us (who were very good) but it would’ve been a more enjoyable experience had the service been better.
Stand out dish was the lobster bisque with puff pastry.
Very disappointing. Left waiting at the door on arrival. Given the raw oysters after ordering the grilled. Grilled cake covered it plastic cheese. 2 oyster orders added to our bill initially. Did get a drink on comp, but overall a poor experience.
Very good meal
They didn’t pickup it was an Anniversary
Very disappointed! Food was cold except for the salmon. We had to ask for bread. We had eaten here a couple of years ago and the food was good. We detect a deterioration in the quality of the food for sure!!
Had 815 pm reservation for 8, arrived at 730 and seated right way!
Birthday and Graduation
We were tourists to Santa Barbara and celebrating an anniversary. My brother-in-law, a commercial fisherman, said that the fish menu offerings were extensive and excellent. He also said the price was moderate. He was right! I had the swordfish which was excellent. My husband had the Ahi--cooked to perfection (almost red in the middle--so not overdone!). We'll make the restaurant a family stop on our next trip to Santa Barbara.
I made reservations several days prior. It was this past Sunday evening and the restaurant was not exceptionally busy. The host proceeded to try to set us at the end of s one table in the main traffic area in a very tightly seated area backed up on both sids by other customers. I pointed out an area in the front that had several open tables for couples and asked if we could sit there. The host asked a manager about. He returned and said we had to sit in this area. I wanted to leave my wife wanted the lobster. We settled for seats on the opposite end and out of the traffic lane. While eating the host proceeded to seat two couples at the tables I requested. Not sure why the manager was so uncaring and unconcerned about customer satisfaction that he would do such a thing. Following dinner, which is always good there, the host apologized on our way out but was unable to provide an explanation as to why we were discriminated against.
I’ve been eating at the Enterprise on special occasions for nearly 20 years. This will be my last visit. Unbelievable!
Excellent seafood. The lobster bisque is everything the reviews have said and then some. Don’t miss it! I had the cup without the puffed pastry and it was more than ample. The jambalaya is excellent. Perfectly spiced. Grilled swordfish was excellent. We went for a late lunch (about 3:00) and the place was close to empty so it was quiet. Service was very good.
I asked for shellfish and it was brought over cooked and therefore you had to keep chewing it too long. I frankly would not recommend it
We vacation in Santa Barbara at least twice a year -- and we make a point of always visiting Enterprise -- fresh fish, fast service, efficient staff. It is exactly what you would expect. . .a fish restaurant close to the ocean -- Busy, but worth a half hour wait. (Of course, we don't have to wait because we're smart enough to make reservations!), but a lot of tourists wait just at the front door. Chowder is especially good, as are the salads (really good!). I had the kale, pomegranate, grilled chicken salad and it was FANTASTIC! Hubby had the Cioppino and he said it was DELICIOUS (hot, tomato-y, lots of seafood). We'll be back.
Was able to get a reservation last minute on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend. Food was outstanding. Wine list is impressive. Despite how crowded it was, the service was great and we felt taken care of. Definitely try the Hawaiian Poke with the Chef's personal twist to it!
Great place in a nice town
Good place, decor is a bit industrial, but the food is good and service well staffed
My Prosciutto & Scallops we’re phenomenal tasting, creamy, hot and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, my wife’s BC Salmon was over-cooked, Cola sauce was bland and even the potato was partially under-cooked. Rather disappointed in the range from the kitchen, we usually thoroughly enjoy the restaurant.
We go for the Salmon. Best fresh Salmon in town.
Just wish that we could use our vouchers at Enterprise Fish!
Also not happy with OpenTable because we don't always get prompt acknowledgement that we earned our credits for having a meal that was reserved online through OpenTable.
