Eno Vino Wine Bar and Bistro
Food was great. Maybe a little more salt than I’m used to. Service was fine. I made a reservation, showed up on time, was seated by host but got a nasty voice mail about missing my reservation and not cancelling. As well as an email from this service. I called back to clarify that I’d eaten there, 7:15 - 8:45, Emily was my server, and dropped 140 bucks and Nova said “so I’m just supposed to take your word”. Uh, yeah, you are Nova.
While I’d recommend the food to anyone, I doubt I’d go back based on that uppity response. This isn’t LA it’s Wisconsin. Get over yourself Nova.
Food and service were excellent.
The atmosphere is dark and being a "bistro" it means too loud for many.
Especially loud when two groups of 8 women are all trying to talk over each other which was our experience on this night.
Excellent meal and service!
Eno Vino has proven to be a very enjoyable and reliable upscale restaurant in the western suburbs for many years and I always enjoy a fine dining experience when my travels take me to Madison.
We enjoyed the weekly Wednesday Wine and Tapas food and wine pairing dinner. The 3 enjoyable French wines were: an excellent rose, a crisp chablis, and a syrah. The chef paired them beautifully with 3 tapas -- a fabulous white gazpacho, 3 lightly sauced shrimp over asparagus, and NY strip steak slices smothered in mushrooms and onions. Totally delicious and a really good value for 3 courses with generous wine pours. Not to be missed. Wine and Tapas evenings are a great way to experience the chef's creativity -- delicious small plates that are not on the menu, accompanied by excellent wines, also not on the wine list, provided by a local distributors. Fun to be surprised with what they come up with and a great way to try out a variety of wines. Service by Ross was excellent. We were there with friends and everyone loved it.
When the reservation was made, I said it was my wife's birthday. Nothing was done about it. Ordered a bottle of wine... it took 35 minutes to get it! You were not busy... about 25% occupancy... 2 people sitting at the bar. Ordered my salmon med/light.... it came well done. Not a good review.
I was excited about this restaurant, but ultimately very disappointed. Upon entry the restaurant is extremely dark, making it hard to see menu, and honestly what you are eating. The food it tapas style, which I very much enjoy, a bit pricey here, but if the food is good I don’t mind paying the price. This is where the real trouble begins. The seafood is very dry, I’m going to say most likely previously frozen, the sauces could have been made by a child, super sweet, and uneventful. Overall the food is that of a low grade Buffett with the price of a bistro, not worth going, sad to say. Service is friendly although slow. I’d say better could be found, at least I hope it can.
First time ever we had poor experience here. My wife always has the tomato bisque with cheese sandwiches. The soup was more like a marinara sauce and unlike we ever saw before. The meatballs were lukewarm and tasteless. $154 for 3. Pricey when poor. First time seen this place almost empty on a Saturday evening
Food was delicious and the restaurant itself was beautiful. Will definitely be returning.
For small plates there are better options in Madison, but this is still a solid option.
Love this restaurant! I Gladly spend the cash because everything is so good and the servers have always been extremely helpful with their recommendations.
Love ordering several small plates and a pitcher of sangria. Everything was delicious! We both have food allergies, but our waitress and the chef were very helpful. There is both a gluten sensitive and dairy free menu, which was so great!
Hannah made her famous margarita for me, it was perfect. We split the filet, rare plus and the chef got it just right.
The food at Eno Vino is always good, and everyone likes small plates to share!
Nice evening. Ate outside on patio. Only frustration was that we told the host we had made reservation on Open Table and they seated us. As we were sitting our phone rang and it was reminder from restaurant Open Table that we had reservation. When we arrived home found an email asking why we did not show up. Disappointing end to nice evening. I called back and they said they were sorry.
In from out of town.... couples get away
Much too dark, had to use phones to see menu. One guest left because they didn't trust eating eating in an establishment so poorly lit that you could hardly see what you're eating.
The food was delicious and the service was superb. Our server, Melinda, was very nice and thoughtful. I had asked for a couple of glasses of champagne to be on the table when we arrive and she obliged with no problem and was fine with my wife and I having a leisurely celebration dinner. Will definitely go back...really wish we didn’t live 2.5 hours away.
Aside from it being a touch loud. The entire experience was phenomenal. Thank you
The place was busy, very noisy, and service was inattentive. Food was good but not a good experience. I’ll focus on service here. It was a birthday celebration, and was that specified on our reservation. At other restaurants the staff would be saying “happy birthday” with every stop at our table. No acknowledgement here, no conversation at all. Seemed like he wanted to take our order so he could move on to other tables. I had to ask if they did anything for birthdays. The answer, “a free dessert.” Still no happy birthday wishes until he brought the check.
Our waitress last time was great, so may have been luck of the draw. We drew the short straw this time.
We loved the recent excellent dinner we had for the Wine and Tapas feature on a Wednesday evening. The chef prepared regionally appropriate foods to pair with the 3 Rhone wines being tasted -- exceptional salmon quenelles with Nantua sauce were delicious paired with the white wine, lamb ravioli with a strawberry reduction sprinkled with feta and minced red onion were outstanding with the lighter red wine, and a juicy tender chicken breast with a prune and garlic confit enhanced the excellent fuller bodied red wine. The chef showed his skill and creativity in the pairings. Such an enjoyable evening!
We've been to Eno Vino a few times and have always felt it a wonderful dining experience. This visit I chose the tacos and they were wonderful! If I had known how they tasted, I might not have had a prior dish and ordered TWO of the taco dishes. (And, yes, I ate them all myself!)
The service is wonderful, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is one that lends itself to fine dining and even with a crowd, it feels cozy.
Terrific place. Excellent food and service. I would highly recommend it.
Alway a delicious and special evening at Eno Vino. Downtown is fun but west is equally tasty and was the first place we became hooked on. Relaxed and cozy, great service. We always order prosciutto bruschetta. Tried Wild Salmon and short rib pot stickers. All were exceptional! Plus Ancho Chile brownie dessert for fun.
The food continues to surprise us! Very good and changes seasonally. Our favorite is the chicken skewers. Craft drinks are also great.
Compare to downtown 5 star this wasn't as exciting experience. Wine was excellent, cognac was cold and diluted, food was only a OK. Ambiance and service were really good. I
We have enjoyed many meals at Eno vino over the years and the food and service is always excellent.
All the dishes are flavorful and savory...prepared with consistency. The wine selections that are offered are outstanding ...and the option of ordering a glass with a small carafe for a second pour is appreciated. The atmosphere is typically busy, but the noise level is low in the dining area...nice place to relax. Seating and tables are comfortable although sitting position is a little low if you are under 5"8".
The food and drinks were amazing!
The food menu and wine list offer a nice variety and high quality good. Our server was attentive. The downside is that the tables have grooves routed in the tops that, unfortunately are full of crumbs and the detritus of previous diners. During the entire meal I wished for a small vacuum.
Great place for a date night. We went on a Sunday and took advantage of their half priced wine bottles.
Rated a 1 for food as we did not order any. We were there mainly just for the wine, wine flights to be exact; in which we were told 6 cups per flights upon reservation. But the restuarant really only offers 3 per flights. Not big deal! My partner and I found us a little disappointed after being seated about 20 minutes, waiting. The service was fine but over the top, as in the waiter and manager or owner (i forget who he was) was constantly coming over to chit chat and asking questions, I believe for the fact that they had sense were disappointed to begin with. It made it hard to have a full conversation with the persistent "service", not to mention the ambiance was great but the music was also over top loud which did not correlate.
Server was great: friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Food was good, not amazing. We liked about half of the 8 choices we made - and the cheese plate was (and should always be) a winner. I would go again, but they definitely have room for improvement on some of their menu items. Get the mini tacos. Our bottom pick, all four of us say avoid the calamari fries; the lamb empanadas were sub-par; the fries are, well, fries; the tuna tartare lacked something, but you don’t need to skip it. This restaurant as very loud at 7 pm on a Friday. If you are with someone who’s hard of hearing, it’s a problem; we asked for a table that seemed like it would be just a bit quieter, but were told we could not be moved.
The atmosphere is lively and the food is always delicious. A great place to dine with friends or a special date night.
We have eaten there many times and are never disappointed with the food or the service. It is one of our favorite places to eat. The Sea Bass and scallops are to die for, absolutely one of the best dishes anywhere. Everything has been consistently fabulous.
Did the 5 course Valentine's dinner and although the food dishes were decent, I really did not care for the restaurant's choice of wine pairings (with the elite wine flight). The second flight selection was a Rose that was almost undrinkable. In the future I would rather purchase a wine from the menu instead of allowing the restaurant to choose the wines. I was surprised that the server did not really know the wines.
Three of the meal courses were exceptional, but the beef course was overcooked and rather bland tasting. I will return to Eno Vino, but will not return to a special event as I felt the service was not as good as my previous visits.
The food is unique and tastes very good. However, the portions are high priced, so we don't dine there often.
It was great, as always.
We have been to Eno Vino Wine Bar many times, and as usual were treated quite courteously. This describes both the host and our waiter. The food was satisfactory, although we thought we remembered items that we did not find on the menu. Our greatest concern was with the noise level. Admittedly, the night was a busy one, with all of the tables occupied during our time at the restaurant. Nonetheless, we had difficulty carrying on a conversation with one another -- across a small table.
We would not hesitate to recommend Eno Vino Bar to friends, but might caution them against a Saturday night reservation.
We hadn't been to Eno Vino in years, but tried it on a recent Friday night. Most of the food was good - bruschetta was a stand out. Two dishes were terrible - potstickers (cold, gummy, filling was dry), and braised brisket (tough, well done, square of meat - implausible that it was actually braised). Service was okay. We will probably try the downtown location, but not this one again.
Eno Vino (West) was delightful. Small plates were all most unique. After Old Fashioned Cocktails at the horseshoe-shaped bar, the wine (Cava for me) hit the spot. Hannah, our server, was fantastic. Awesome spot.
