Good food and great ambiance
We were very unhappy with our Waiter, Ryan? He's kind when he shows up at the table, but he didn't deliver and basically ignored us. It took forever to place an order, our water glasses were empty, just never around... and we spent over $300. This was our 3rd time at Empire in the past 5 weeks. Our experience this past time was not nearly what we expected. We spoke so highly of Empire to our friends. It was a bitter disappointment after our 2 prior experiences. Food was good, but not what we had experienced.
Always have a great time at Empire! Food is amazing, ambiance is fun/dark/loud, great for a girls night out!
It was wonderful I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we loved the food
It’s pretty lame and stupid that you have to stay outside in a long line with a bunch of people that are trying to get in to have drinks when you have a dinner reservation.
Why not make a separate entrance or have people show their dinner reservation at the front.
Also, they may want to train their outside bouncers to be less arrogant and more polite and friendly like greet people, smile and say hello back. They are not a police officer.
Amazing food and ambiance. Definitely coming back
Pros: Waiter was engaging and timely, appetizers, campfire s’mores and cocktails were great
Cons: House maki roll was a little surprisingly sweet; duck breast over-cooked; music too loud to hear my fiancée, lessening the overall experience
The service was great and decor was stunning. Drinks were satisfying. Typical Boston parking 15/20 dollars, unfortunately no valet. Food is high price, kinda dark inside people use there flashlights on their phone to read menu. Even though there was good music it was too loud and made it to hard to conversate. The Korean rubbed sirloin had no flavor very disappointing. Calamari was good, lobster sushi as well.
Everything about this place is amazing. Just be warned that the music is played loud everyone trying to talk over it can make it hard to hear.
Always delicious and always friendly staff, Mcmillen was great
Excellent food and service. Ambience was perfect for a late-ish Friday night dinner with friends. It is pricey, so be prepared to spend a good amount of money, but the quality of the food and service is worth it.
It was a strange easter day, when many of us needed to work, more then half of us didn’t make it to afterwork easter dinner. But couple of us spend a great evening and it was surprisingly relaxing. We did not know that the kitchen closes earlier so the rest of us got to meet somewhere else later. The dinner that we had at empire was amazing as always and lively service. We come there at list ones or twice a week with my family and get a round or top hidden table away from the corporate crowd. Service and people working there is always the top. Management is very friendly too. Cooks are doing the art work , not just food. Food taste is great. The variety of sakes - one of the best in town, including unfiltered. Cocktails - its the only failure: design is great and idea, but they don’t taste even close to what they supposed to. Rest of the things - great.
They didn't give me 100 points for booking through Open Table.
OMG! I think one of the best if not the best Asian restaurant we have ever been. Sooooo delicious. And portions are very generous. Dream to go back.
The music was so loud it was hard to hear my date but the food was so good.
Honestly, the food was pretty good, I have no complaints on the quality. However, I think that the prices are ridiculous. Nothing on the menu warranted its price, to the point where my date and I ordered based on what seemed to be acceptable (which was a difficult task). HOW is it acceptable to charge $25 for a maki roll with CRABSTICK, perhaps consider using some good crab meat for those prices. None of the sushi rolls sounded impressive enough to warrant ordering for their prices (which is unfortunate since I went there expecting to eat sushi). Everything else is just as expensive for very small portions. Would not return. I can get food that is up to par (and likely better) for much better prices. Plus, the atmosphere is cool, but then there is a large bright kitchen in the center which completely takes away from the rest of the dining environment.
I would love to return and try other items on the menu - the food was very fresh and very delicious. The decor and atmosphere is absolutely perfect.
our waitress could not care less about her tables, saw her maybe 3 times. I am gluten free and we stated that multiple times but because she was too busy standing at desk with other waiters and waitresses, she seemed to have forgot. Food was just placed at our table without any explanation or even "this is this dish". We asked every time if it was gluten free and got an answer 1/5 times. I got very very sick afterwards. Part of me believes that they did not take my allergy seriously because of the appearance of me and my date. Even if were young, you do not take an allergy lightly or as a suggestion. Very very very disappointed and do not recommend if you are diagnosed gluten free. Huge waste of money and time.
Empire is fantastic with amazing food and fantastic service. However, if you're not into a wild and crazy "club" scene avoid it on a Friday or Saturday evening. It's packed full of scantily clad 20-somethings who are bombed, loud and don't care who's watching. The music is so loud, you can't hear your waiter or anything else for that matter. Add to that, the kids screaming to communicate with each other.
It was great in terms of food and service. But felt rushed by the server, my number one “not-to-do” when dining out!
Worst experience ever!! Was treated horribly by their management, wrongfully accused of being an ‘irate’ and drunken customer. My date and I were seated at the kitchen counter, only to wait about 20 minutes before we finally flagged down a server. They said we weren’t assign a server but they’d get someone over right away. As we waited we saw one of the special table cocktails, a half watermelon which typically serves 4ppl. When our server finally came around we asked her if we could get one. She said she’d check. When she came back she said no, since there was only two of us. The drink was $72! We wanted to splurge for a special evening and get the fancy cocktail, even if they only filled it halfway. I asked if there was anyone else we could speak to so she sent over a manager. We mentioned we had been waiting a while for a server only now to be told we can’t order the beverage of choice. He then replied that we actually cannot be served any alcohol! That we were being irate and were clearly drunk. In no shape or form were we ever irate or showing any signs of being drunk. Our jaws dropped! We gathered our items and headed to the exit. We stopped another supervisor and he confirmed we were neither irate nor drunk, but he couldn’t overturn his managers decision. Stopped at another manager at the door who also refused to make it right! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for a great experience, as ours was definitely ruined! I’ve never been treated so poorly at a restaurant!
Awesome sushi and amazing music. Later on at night, this place really heats up and becomes a party. Love coming here every single time!
Food and service was great. This was our first time at Empire and we enjoyed it.
Outstanding Asian cuisine in a beautiful setting. The restaurant itself is beautiful in design and architecture. They have rooms for private group events, and this is a wonderful option for business or larger gatherings. Sushi, Pad Thai, and traditional Chinese dishes served with top notch ingredients, and a different flair. A fabulous drink menu...the Painkiller, Mai Tai, and martinis were all tried with our group, and all delicious. Highly recommend!
Great food, great atmosphere. Will be back for sure.
We went for the sushi unlimited on a Monday, but unfortunately for us, this was the first week that it has been moved to Wednesdays. We ordered anyway, and the food was wonderful. The waitress was knowledgeable about the rest of the menu and very nice --but where was she hiding all night? The bus staff cleared our table efficiently, but when we wanted to add to our order and later get our check, we had to ask the bus staff to please find her. As it wasn't a busy night, I'm not sure where she was. The bar staff was the same. I'll keep coming back for the food (on Wednesdays now), but I wish the service was better.
Love empire always my go to spot. Food, drinks and ambience is amazing
It was an amazing unlimited sushi day
This was my first time at EMPIRE. We went for the Monday night special of unlimited Sushi for $29 per person. This is fantastic deal. The selection of Sushi offered on this special was quite extensive, and it was some of the best Sushi that I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere and the service were also of the highest quality. We will definitely be back!
Birthday surprise didn’t happen which was disappointing for the kids
Great service, amazing food!!!
Great atmosphere. Variety of food from different regions in Asia. Maki rolls flavorful. Very good service. Loved the open kitchen design.
My reservation was for 9pm and they could not fulfill the reservation. I had called to confirm 9pm would work and showed up early. I waited over an hour past my reservation time until I decided to go elsewhere. The staff was overwhelmed and completely overbooked. Several customers were waiting and wanted answers. Terrible experience.
Out standing from beginning to end. Delicious foo, great service, energetic vibe.
Our server couldn’t have been nicer and the feel of the restaurant was exactly what we were looking for but the food was not great. We ordered off of the Valentine’s Day specials menu. I ordered lobster fried rice and my boyfriend ordered the sea bass. Both meals were $30+. My rice was over cooked and flavorless and there was maybe 8 tiny pieces of lobster meat in it. Certainly not worth $32. The sea bass was tasty but it was a very small portion with no side for $35. I mean a very small portion to the point that he ordered a roll of sushi after our meal to eat more food. The best thing I had was my cocktail. I’m wondering if maybe the normal menu is where this restaurant succeeds but after tonight I probably won’t be back to find out.
Overall experience was great, loved the ambiance 😊
I was really looking forward to having dinner here considering it was a special occasion (close friends birthday). It is an overpriced menu for food you can simply get in Chinatown. However, the restaurant is beautiful and it is is seaport so I guess you pay for the ambiance. The cool thing is that some dishes have different sizes in case you want to share the food and do family style. Unfortunately the service was horrible. Our server took almost 20 minutes to come greet us from the time we were seated. Then when we had our food, she never checked on us or came to ask if there was anything we needed. She paid no attention to us and it really bothered me.
We loved the atmosphere. Food a little pricey, but great quality. Staff was very attentive and nice. Our waiter was awesome!!
It was an experience and I am glad that I tried it. Nothing we ordered was bad but none of it was outstanding. Some of the chair placements were a bit cramped.
Our server jack was awesome! Thanks for taking care of us!
