My wife and I visited Empire on a recommendation from a family member. The suhi was outstanding and the menu had a great selection of other asian/japanese cuisine. This is not a restaurant for a quiet dinner, but we knew that before arriving. We had a great meal and the service was outstanding. After our waitress realized we were celebrating a special occasion, the manager delivered 2 flutes of champagne, on the house. The location is great too, right on the waterfront, so you can go for a stroll along the revitalized waterfront after dinner.
We'll consider going back next time we visit Boston.
Empire was absolutely amazing! You enter and automatically are struck by the decor. It really draws you in to the whole experience. The service was unforgettable, our server Mandie was a fantastic help and really made our night out fantastic. The food was so delightful, dynamic and really takes your tastebuds to a different level. Even the cocktail list has a wide variety of over sized scorpion bowls to share! We enjoyed the mai tai for two, it was served in a frozen pinapple! I wish I lived closer so I can enjoy it every week! Or day :-)
Best sushi I have had in Boston. Love this place!
In an area with a lot of competition, this restaurant comes out on top. Great food, plenty of space and friendly staff. Service was great!
If you are looking for a place to satisfy an array of appetites; Empire is a great bet! HUGE menu, inspired cocktails, great space - you really can't go wrong here.
Gorgeous styling - both food and space.
Scale is too expansive. Noise is too high. Service was professional and the food was prepared and presented well.
Prior to this weekend I had only been to Empire for drinks with friends, but after eating dinner there I am definitely sold on this place! The staff was really friendly and the food was delicious! A friend and I got sushi to start and split the pad Thai and we both thought it was amazing. The staff was also able to easily recommend cocktails which is always a plus in my book, and yes the drinks were delicious!
Beautiful decor, friendly and very helpful servers and amazing food... must order Sushi Cupcakes, Red Dragon Roll and Torched Yellowtail.
Our favorite place for date night!
All the food was good and portion size was very good. Scallion pancake appetizer was my favorite with three great dips/sauces
We had never been to Empire and thought it might be fun to try.....it was so worth it! Everything about the experience was stellar from the food to service and ambiance. It's a little pricey, but well worth it.
Best restaurant in boston!! I dined at several restaurants all week and this one took home the award for best food and service. The black alaska. Cod was to die for!! For an appatizer the lonster cupcakes are a must!
The drinks are fantastic and the bar area is modern, comfortable, and full of great service. Their drinks menu has an Asian vibe, but they'll mix anything for you. Definitely make sure you try the Shanghai Doll.
The dining area is separate from the bar so you can actually have a conversation without having to raise your voice. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, and the food is delicious and fresh, which is important when having sushi. Try one of their house specials!
The best part of the evening was the Empire staff. Everyone was super kind, super willing to accommodate, and extremely interested in making our Empire experience a memorable one.
I will definitely be returning and spreading the word about this place!
High energy great food great fun!
Upscale Chinese and sushi- everything we ordered mostly tapas style plates and ate family style so we tried a lot of different dishes. Everything was fantastic. The salt and pepper calamari was best ever!
The atmosphere is lively, with a big attractive bar, and huge dining seating capacity without seeming cavernous. Cool decor and open kitchen action. The service was exceptional. The food was good, not fabulous. Price points were reasonable. My biggest issue was that our sushi appears to have been pre-prepared and refrigerated. We sat at the sushi bar - the chefs were standing around waiting for orders and ours was at our table within 30 seconds of ordering. It tasted like it has been in a frig. That was disappointing. I understand volume management but don't sacrifice the sushi! Overall good but would recommend they change that...
Great sushi and sashimi..... excellent service in a large, spacious dining area. Very similar to classic Hong Kong restaurants in look and feel.
Great menu and everything was delicious. One of the best oriental fusion/japanese places I've been to. Would definitely go back.
Decoration is amazing
I needed to meet up with some colleagues who were in town to join me at a client the next day. Two in our party needed to eat gluten-free and that was the original reason I flagged Empire as an option. It did not disappoint. Everyone in the group was able to get what they wanted/needed, the food was delicious, and we were far enough away from the excitement in the bar to be able to discuss our strategy for the next day. Two of us got the Singapore Street Noodles (the half-order) and we DEFINITELY should have shared just the one order. I can't imagine what a FULL order looks like - I bet it would have fed the whole table!
A special note for those with allergies: As I was waiting for people to show up I had ordered a drink in the bar. When it came, it looked a bit red to me (and I'm allergic to an artificial red dye) and the bartender immediately went back to double check the complete menu to see that it did, indeed, have some grenadine added to the mix they had premade. For some of the pre-mixed drinks, they aren't able to list out every single ingredient on the menu, but they DO have a complete ingredient list behind the bar, so if you have a specific allergy it may be best to ask on the mixed drinks and to ask/tell the bartender ahead of time. She was super helpful and found me a drink (a mai tai) that didn't have any of the dye and the drink was DELICIOUS!! I was impressed with the customer service and willingness to find something that would work.
Food and cocktails are always delicious. Chris was our server and was amazing! Very friendly and nice. We had a great night.
Had an awesome time with a group of girlfriends. Our waitress was exceptional and the staff catered to one of us with many gluten free options. They also brought over a special sushi roll, compliments of the chef. An enjoyable evening!
The empire the seaports hip sushi resturant with a business upscale crowd bring your best dress cloth and pregame here or take hot date. Be prepared to pay reasonable price this isn't a sushi joint it's ritzy and a lot of fun for groups too
unlimitted sushi on mondays are grweat
The atmosphere is that of a fine dining experience. The menu will please any palate. Try the Alaskan Black Cod. It's amazing!
The group I hosted enjoyed the dinner and appreciated that a gluten free menu was available. We thought the "thump-thump-thump" from the music in the bar was at odds with the serene Asian interior. Lobster cupcakes were to die for. Sushi was just so-so. Rice and noodles come in enormous servings large enough for entrees for several people. When it was time to go, the staff were not that helpful about calling cabs - we were pretty much on our own, jumping on ones that dropped people off.
We sat at the bar, our preferred place. Great servers. We tried several things; Singapore street noodles and shrimp shu mai were really good, but the honey buns were fantastic. Can't wait to have that dish again. Also over the top fantastic were the dueling donuts. We aren't dessert eaters, but are so glad that we tried these.
Empire Restaurant was fabulous. Beautiful atmosphere, bustling and trendy. Monday night all you can eat sushi was an amazing deal with good variety, some staples and some unique rolls. The desserts are over the top. Cocktails were unique. Great to try a new drink with some unusual ingredients that was a wonderful complement to the food. Highly recommend Empire!
good date spot. House maki is unreal. Gets very crowded after 7pm and is a little on the expensive side but well worth it. Food is great and there is a huge variety of drinks to choose from. Great spot for a date or celebration.
Fun place to drink, not so good to eat at. Service is always good but the food is overpriced and not very good. The drinks are always terrific.
The Monday night all you can eat sushi is a great value - solid food at a great price.
Very good food; excellent service -- but wayyyy pricey. Go for a special occasion.
I have to admit, we went here not expecting much since this restaurant only had 3 stars on yelp. What were they smoking? From the moment we opened the 20 feet high, heavy doors, we knew we were in for an experience. Once we entered, it was like entering a different world! There could not have been more of a contrast between the warehouses of the waterfront outside, to the opulent Asian decor inside. 2 story high ceilings, dim lighting with red lanterns, cavernous rooms that somehow also felt intimate. The menu is a bit overwhelming, but I was impressed that the had a gluten free menu that was almost as extensive. Our head waitress Treasure was beautiful, kind and attentive. I ordered the cherry blossom Manhattan, and it did not disappoint-delicious! We ordered two appetizers, snow something (not bad, but not so memorable) and the lobster cupcakes. Oh. My. God. That's not swearing people, I seriously think the Lord had something to do with these bites of heaven. My daughter and I have eaten in fine dining establishments ask over the world, and we both think these are in the top 2 things we've ever eaten in our lives, and I'm 53! We then ordered miso cod with bok bok choy, vegetarian hand roll, and Vietnamese street noodle. The manager came over after my daughter said it was her first time in Boston, and chatted with us for a good 10 min. He sent over an amuse bouche of shrimp shumai, sweet and delicious. The portions are huge, we couldn't finish the bok choy (which was cooked perfectly) our the noodles-order the bowl it was huge the large must feed a table for 10! The miso cod was good but we've had better, some pieces were a bit dry not thoroughly marinated. The street noodles were good too but we were just too full and wanted desserts. We split the mango gelato which was creamy and dense with flavor. Overall excellent service, good to great food, and beautiful restaurant. 5 stars! :-D
Excellent dining experience. Our waiter was very attentive, the food was spectacular and the drinks, well we couldn't get enough of the Lychee martinis :-)
My wife and I loved this place. Great ambiance and great food make for a great evening all around and this place delivered.
Whether there for dinner or drinks, a fun place. The menu had lots of choices, but not so many that you are overwhelmed. Very friendly waitstaff. There were a lot of large groups on a Saturday night making theplace pretty lively.
I had a craving for shrimp tempura and found this place close to my husband's office. I wasn't completely confident that we would have a great experience since the reviews mentioned that Empire was more of a happening bar scene. My husband and I are a fairly young married couple (late 20's), but oddly, we prefer a quiet, laid-back dinner. I made an early dinner reservation (6:30) so we could avoid the crowd. Upon arrival, we were seated right next to a party of 12, but it did not seem cramped or boisterous due to the massive space. They had a nice cocktail and sake selection, but to my disappointment, they did not have shrimp tempura on the menu--what they offered was a kind of shrimp tempura ROLL. They DID have vegetable tempura, so I asked if it was possible to make shrimp with it. They graciously accommodated my request, so I was a very happy (hopefully pregnant) lady. That just made the night for me! My husband had the kimchi dish, which he said was delicious. The portions were quite generous, so we got to take some home. The panna cotta dessert with pomegranate seeds were amazing! This will definitely be our go-to place when we need Asian food!
.consistently outstanding! great service - food is fresh - creative and even exotic!
Good restaurant with good food. Started with the Lobster Cupcakes which were excellent! All meals ordered by our large table were good and a nice size. Enjoyed the dinner and will go back.
We frequently dine at Empire and always love the atmosphere. Chef Kevin Long always offers such interesting menu options we never leave unhappy. THis last time our waiter ( A tall handsome very professional man ) instantly recognized us. He knew we wanted sushi and offered to bring us the best they had to offer - OMG - it was like he read our minds!! Each item was delicious and our server made sure we were satisfied - he just kept bringing items over and checking back - how special
Food is always outstanding at Empire but our last night there was exceptional - thank you to the entire staff for presenting such good food in a fun and lively atmosphere - WELL DONE
My friends and I have enjoyed going to Empire every time. We try to make it a weekly get together there. Great food, awesome music, the service is outstanding, and the owner Ed and staff are so kind! Definetly one of the top places in Boston to check out.
