Emmet's Irish Pub and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We didn't know what to expect when we entered, as it looked more like a bar than a restaurant. We were very warmly greeted at the door, and shown to a table up front in the window. However, there was a speaker right over head, and it was quite loud, so the host quickly offered us another table in another area that wasn't quite as loud . The menu is simple, but full of wonderfully traditional items, all of which sounded delicious. I had the Taste of Ireland - which was a sampling of 3 house specialties - Guinness Beef Stew, Shepard's Pie, and Chicken Pot Pie! Each one was so delicious, and they served you just enough of each - still thinking about the meal. A friend had the Bangers and Mash, and also raved! The service was warm and inviting, and would definitely come back next time we're in Boston.
I really enjoyed Emmet's Irish Pub. My wife and I live outside of the city but decided to see a show at The Wilbur Theater. I searched all around on OpenTable and Yelp and found great reviews of this place. It was about a 15-minute walk, past the common so I enjoyed the walk there and back as well. The restaurant is dim lit and had an excellent food selection. I am vegetarian and I had a number of different options. I went with the gnocchi, which I loved. My wife got a veggie burger and also really enjoyed that. I will come back for sure!
My wife and I traveled to Boston from RI to meet a relative going to school there. It was the perfect place for a get together, service was excellent, food very good, and it is an extremely comfortable restaurant. Glad it was available through Open Table, as I never would have located it. Will make it a stop on the next trip to Boston.
We went for an Irish brunch on Sunday afternoon. We would have loved to hear the traditional Irish session at 3 pm but were too early for that. They sat us in the window seat where the band would be playing at 3. The canned music through the speakers was really, obscenely loud. It was great Irish music, but I couldn't even hear my partner in our conversation. The food was great, though, and we enjoyed our personal serving sizes of Irish Breakfast Tea.
Our first time here and it was good. I ordered the Irish chicken curry, different from Indian curries. It didn't really taste like a curry and was full of large pieces of onion to fill it up - onions are cheap! As I don't eat onions, I had to pick them all out. The ambience was good and service excellent.
The hostess was great and seated us by open windows so it was fun to people watch. There was live Irish music which enhanced the ambiance. The music was loud enough to hear but did not drown out our conversation. The food and drink were excellent and we will be back!!
We had a wonderful time at Emmets. Great whisky selection, great atmosphere, and the food was excellent. They only had two waitresses, so it was understandably slow to get another drink, but still somewhat timely. I enjoyed my time very much so, and will return for the brunch and traditional Irish music! Slainté!
Food was really good, nice and hot. The place was busy and the noise level was really loud making it difficult to talk across the table. Server pleasant but seemed really rushed. Couldn't get the request for sweetner out of my mouth before she raced away after bringing our tea. Good selection of beer on tap.
Loved our experience at Emmet's! I had heard great things about the Irish music & they certainly delivered! Authentic & down to earth... just what we were hoping for. I wish there were more tables you could view the music, but not much they can do about that :). Our server was lovely, and my shepard's pie was delicious! We'll definitely be back.
We sat in the back, it was pretty loud, but I appreciated that they were able to get a group of 7 of us in there on relatively short notice. Drinks seemed less expensive than average for Boston. Food was good but portions were a little on the small side. For a big city like Boston it was fairly cheap though.
This place is really cozy, and the food was really good! It's not fancy food (pub grub) but everything was very tasty, and the prices were very fair. It's a little snug (not a lot of tables because it's primarily a bar) but we got a table last minute on a Friday so we were appreciative about that.
We were looking for a good bar with food, and this came recommended. It was just right. A great location to meet and even though on Halloween evening it was still fairly quiet at the time we had supper 7:30pm. some simple and good "Irish" inspired dishes, wonderful beer, service and value for money in a fairly expensive city for foodies. Relaxing and would thoroughly recommend. Booking is best.
The beef and guiness stew was a huge hit with our group. Lots of roadwork going on outside but it didn't interfere with our dinner. Power salad was very good, not typical to have good vegetarian options at a pub. We had a late arrival in our party and our server was very gracious about it.
Three of us dined here on a Saturday evening. It is in a neighborhood more geared to shopping then dining, so it was fairly full but not crowded. Prices are very reasonable for Boston. The service was very good, and our food and drinks were served quickly. My husband ordered a burger with a side of coleslaw. The burger was of average size and cooked to his liking. However, he thought the coleslaw was very salty and not at all what he expected. Two of us ordered the salmon which was said to come with polenta and asparagus. The salmon was a small portion, which I understood for the price ($17), however there were 2 small stalks of asparagus on the plate, more of a garnish. Earlier that day I bought 2 large bunches of asparagus at Haymarket for $1, so I was very put off by the very stingy helping of asparagus. It probably should not have even been mentioned on the menu, or maybe it should have stated it was a garnish. The polenta tasted decent and also was a small helping. The salmon was fine but bland and nothing special about it. Anyhow, this place was a very cute Irish pub and probably a great place for some beers and bar food, but for dining out, go elsewhere.
We went here right after the Boston Marathon as our celebratory meal. It was an excellent choice. The pub had a wonderful atmosphere and while the place was crowded, my friend and I had a good table and could hear each other. Great ambiance and felt historic. We had the potato skins as our nibbly and they were delicious and surprisingly pretty. There was unfortunately only 3 which I found a little stingy. My burger with ale marinated onions was excellent. I found the dessert menu kind of sparse with only 3 options. I chose the bread pudding (one of my favorite dishes) with warm custard sauce and it came without the custard sauce and was rather dry and disappointing.
