Emmer & Rye
Emmer & Rye is a restaurant designed around the farmer’s haul, featuring a menu that changes daily with a focus on seasonal and local cuisine. Heirloom grains are milled fresh for house made pastas, breads, and desserts, whole animal butchery is done on site, and an extensive in house fermentation program captures flavors at their peak and preserves them for the off season.

We did the 8-course dinner tasting menu which was the best choice as we especially enjoyed the potatoes, cacio e pepe, and wagyu steak courses; the wagyu was seared perfectly and the cacio e pepe pasta with the Swiss cheese was a great combo.
Our server and the staff were great as they explained every dish in detail and were very attentive without being overbearing.
Great dining atmosphere and without a doubt will dine here again when we’re back in town.
The food was beyond delicious and the staff was so kind and accommodating. A must try while in Austin.
Exemplary service and some very creative dishes that paired nicely with the current wine list.
I was a restaurant manager in Scottsdale for 7 years. I am not exaggerating when I say I think last nights dinner was probably the best service I have ever received. The food was really good, but the service stood out, from the hostess to the servers, the teamwork was fantastic and they were very busy. I am very impressed!!!!
Was in Austin for the weekend and made sure to stop at E&R for a fantastic dinner. Annie and Drew took care of everything for us and we couldn't have been happier. Best dinner in Austin!
Ten course tasting menu was outstanding. Service was fantastic! We sat on the covered patio.
We went to Emmer & Rye to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and had such an amazing experience! We left our dinner selections in the hands of the chefs and were not disappointed. On top of that, the service was INCREDIBLE! We received a handwritten card wishing us a happy anniversary and a toast to begin the evening. Everyone was so attentive and our server, Drew, felt like a good friend by the end of the evening. Hands down - our favorite place to dine in Austin!
I had an amazing experience the food was great but I really want to highlight how wonderful the service truly was it was honestly so great. Definitely recommending this place to everyone
I've been meaning to visit Emmer & Rye for over a year, and finally made my first reservation. The food and service were absolutely outstanding. The place was more energetic than I imagined, but we did go on a Thursday night before F1 weekend. Overall, the cuisine is phenomenal and the staff is well versed on the ingredients and what went into making each dish. They provided excellent recommendations for wine. We opted for the chef's tasting and I would suggest going that route. I was stuffed and can't wait to visit again soon.
The service- unobtrusively attentive and pleasant.
Ambience- tasteful, upbeat and energetic without being loud
Food- we had the 8 course dinner presentation. Plenty of food with unusual flavor pairings. Some we liked. Others should have been dropped from the lineup. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.
Fantastic experience. Had the house dinner, was phenomenal. Highly recommend.
We waited over 60 min for our main dishes and were starving by the time we got them. The whole experience totally sucked. The main dish was like warm and felt like it was ripped off the pigs back and served to us. Our server realized the bad situation that happened and never came back. I hated that place.
Phenomenal and stellar in every way! Service, dining. Atmosphere, wine and cocktails! Easily our favorite spot in Austin and it gets better every time!
Great meal Lot of fun get the tasting dinner
Food was incredible!
A wonderful combo of casual ambiance and culinary precision, E & R didn't disappoint. We had the tasting menu, which was an excellent value, and we dined on the lovely covered patio. All in all, a really pleasant time.
Our favorite place for a delicious and adventurous meal with fabulous wine and cocktails.
The chef’s tasting menu was fantastic. The service was outstanding.
Amazing place one of the best meals of my life! Can’t wait to dine here again! I was coming from LA where we are snobby about our food and was beyond impressed.
Located on the first floor of a residential mid-rise near downtown E they would do credit to the finest restaurants, say, in Houston. From there it went downhill fast. Not because the three other dishes were not tasty or well constructed --- a pasta dish of cacio e pepe, an entree of snapper and another of trumpet mushrooms with fruit --- they were. However somebody in the kitchen completely lost their sense of balance when it came to the salt. These dishes were so intensely salty they came close to being inedible.
So E&R on a good day is marvelous. But they have an Achilles heel.
Excellent food and service, excellent approach to farm to table cooking
Overall this was a great memorable meal to experience. We had the tasting menu and wine pairing for a birthday celebration and were mostly delighted with the unique concoctions the chef and staff created and delivered to the table! The grouper at the end was a bit too salty sadly, but everything else was super. The staff was kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. Would recommend!
All of the staff made a very memorable event for us to celebrate our anniversary there. We look forward to scheduling another dining experience there in the near future and are sharing our experience with others.
Fantastic food, service, and ambiance. Love their commitment to sourcing local ingredients. Really good wine list. Didn't break a sweat when we asked them to make sure they could deal with an allergy issue. Can't recommend them highly enough.
Apart from Otis and Aaron we were very disappointed with the experience. Despite informing the restaurant about allergies food was served with ingredients that caused allergies. Dishes we ordered weren’t served. Food was undercooked. Wrong dishes were brought to our table. Our server Aaron was incredible and tried to rectify the situation however half way through our meal the server was changed to Otis who was also very good. The Manager and his attitude was disappointing. We won’t be visiting this restaurant any time soon and wouldn’t recommend it.
Great experience! Tomato and Harry Carey cucumber dish made no sense to us.
Everything else was excellent.
Great dinner service
Food lacked flavor and temperature. Service was mediocre. Ambiance was nice and comfortable. Very average over all.
Creative menu, fantastic flavor combinations. Love the small plate sharing format. Definitely add the snacks option to your choices.
Modern, fresh decor with subtle hip-hop playing overhead. A fun, hip atmosphere. Seasonal, ever-changing menu. Service was over-the-top. We'll be coming back.
Food was as always interesting and good, but service was been a bit lacking - drink service was very slow, and some of the servers seemed inexperienced. Might just be not enough staff, but I expect a bit better here.
Great service and great food. Pricey but worth every bite.
Outstanding service. The whole staff is kind, knowledgeable and just wonderful. Great recommendations for what to eat and drink. We loved everything we ate and the whole experience. I have ambiance a 4 because the outdoor chairs are uncomfortable if you’re sitting for a long time but who cares when you have good food and good conversation. Definitely will be back when you switch to your next seasonal menu!
Great service and delicious food!
One of the best meals I’ve EVER had and the service is outstanding. We did the dinner tasting for $75 and it didn’t disappoint . The portions were sizable and the variety was great.
Great farm to table with impressive flavors! Highly recommended
Food, drinks and service were awesome. Lola, our primary server, was wonderful. She is destined for great things. Highly recommend Emmer & Rye!!!
Visiting Austin. Food was really good!
Very good service and food was innovative and tasty. Very loud. Entrees were hit or miss on value. The mushroom dish was delicious but the same price as a meat protein for very little overall food - definitely was still hungry after. Other entrees were filling and flavorful. That said, great experience overall.
My favorite restaurant in Austin! Had a great birthday celebration here. Every item we ordered was delicious and the desserts were magical.
