Emeril's Tchoup Chop Ratings and Reviews
There are many wonderful restaurants to choose from in Orlando. The four of us were excited to go to Emeril's Tchoup Chop due to its varied menu and promise of exceptional food. When we arrived for our 8:30 reservation on a Wednesday night we were told that our table would be ready in 10 minutes. We stood in a crowded bar until a table emptied about 20 minutes later. My husband can't stand for a long period of time, so that was a blessing. I checked at the host stand every 10 minutes or so and was always assured that our table would be ready in just a few minutes. We were not seated until 9:45.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Tchoup Chop because I celebrated my 30th birthday here with my close friends and family. That night was perfect- from the ambience, to the service, to the main feature itself: the food. I loved it, and when I am back in Orlando again, I will be sure to come back!
This is our third Emeril's restaurant we have eaten in. We were looking forward to his signature Banana Cream Pie which we were totally disappointed with, compared to his other restaurants (especially his Bethlahem, Pa. one which was outstanding) It had lots of whipped cream with very little banana in it. Otherwise, the service was excellant and food was also very good. We did not try any other dessert. I recommend that your pastry chep take a lesson from the pastry chef in Pennsylvania on how to make an outstanding Banana Cream Pie.
The atmosphere is calm and serene. The food is fresh and flavorful. The service is excellent! Overall this little gem is a great find for those staying at the hotel and for those visiting the Universal parks. Don't forget to use the water taxi- it will save you even mor walking and it is free!
A hidden gem in all of the tourist sights of Orlando. If you are craving a very special adult experience and you are a foodie...this is a must do. Don't hesitate to splurge, it is worth trying the Chef's Menu with the Wine Pairing. Really is worth every penny. Do take your time when you are here and absorb the entire experience. The ambiance is as unique as the menu...
Overall, we had a nice time. The Kiawe Smoked Baby Back Ribs weren't bad. The Tchoup Chop Salad was very yummy. I ordered the lamb shank - it was huge but the meat seemed a little tough with the sweet potatoes and candied pear sauce abit overwhelmingly sweet. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib that was on the Specials Menu and thought it was very good. The wine list seemed abit overpriced even for a restaurant.
Overall fair experience. We did have to wait 40 minutes for our table but not restaurant's fault. Food was good overall, some dishes disappointing. Service was good. Took way too long between courses though but they did serve everyone at the table at the same time which is critical to everyone having a hot meal. Tofu dish was excellent. Duck only fair. Crab cake great, Salmon Napoleon poorly seasoned and 'mushy', needed more acidity and salt. A hit with seasoning was the fennel broth served with the Mahi mahi, very delicate, light broth that really complimented the fish. Deserts were excellent especially the Banana cream pie.....best I have ever eaten.
My husband and I visited Emerils Tchoup Chop back in March of 2010 and it was fantastic. We have since moved out of state and promised each time we return to central FL it is a must to return! The crabcakes were perfect!Just as we remember from earlier in the year. We also enjoyed the duck breast and marinated tofu, both were excellent. Last visit the pumpkin bread pudding was melt in your mouth, this time it was sweet potato bread pudding, just as wonderful, if not better! The atmosphere is very relaxing, the open kitchen is very entertaining. The staff took very good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed at all times, and even took a picture of us for our memory book. I highly recommend here and will be back very soon!
Great food, amazing service. Braised short ribs were out of this world. Horseradish-encrusted Mahi Mahi was very good but not outstanding. Tchoup tchoup crunchy shrimp app is truly a gem. Expression 44 pinot noir was a great find although that was on our own.
This was our second time to this establishment; however, it did not live up our prior experience. We were a party of four and one meal came out warm not hot, but the server did not come back in a reasonable amount of time so the person in our party eat did but said it was not wonderful.
Recently my family and I went to Orlando to visit Disney and Universal. We spend a week there and the highlight of the experience for all of us, my wife, myself and my two teenage kids was our dining experience at Emeril's Tchoup Chop. The food was superb! The desserts were excellent. We don't drink so I can't rate the wine but I doubt if I'd go to Disney or Universal again but I would definitely go to Emeril's Tchoup Chop any time.
This is our second visit - we initially went when it was first opened - the food is exceptional and service is exceptional and the atmosphere is great. We did have one issue where the complimentary valet parking was not staffed and we parked in the hotel parking lot - had to be reimbursed for the $42.60 parking fee that we paid for the two hours while we were in the restautant.
Ambience, service and food variety and quality were top-notch! Wines were perhaps overpriced (or at least a broader selection should be offered at all price ranges),marking the only negative in what was otherwise a very enjoyable and memorable dining experience.
My wife and I are tough critics when it comes to food and restaurants. I took her to Tchoup Chop for her birthday, expecting to completely wow her. We were seated immediately, then ignored for 10 minutes. Once the wait staff really got into their groove, things were marvelous: glasses never emptied, servers were attentive and cheerful, and 'happy birthday' written in chocolate on our dessert tray was a nice touch.
The food was incredibly disappointing. Emeril is known for bold flavors that make you recall his catchphrase - 'BAM!!'. The only things with flavor were the Shrimp Chips and Dessert - the banana creme pie is bold enough to wake your taste buds from even the most drab of meals. For the price we paid, I expected more 'BAM!!'
Do not waste your money. The food was bland and un imaginative. We spent more on this meal than on one a few nights later which was far superior. My daughter and I ordered different meat dishes and I couldn't tell them apart. They where very accommodating to gluten allergies. And the service was strange. We had three waiters and couldn't get water brought quickly. A whole lot of show and nothing to walk a way with.
Try the Happy Hour specials only. Dinner is not edible. Tried chef's special sushi rolls first. Sent immediately back to kitchen. Like saw dust, fell completely apart when using chop sticks. Then tried two rainbow rolls, not much better. Comment by wait staff over heard "I give them credit for trying".
The kid's dinner of chicken and fried rice was worse than any take out I can remember.
Wonderful experience overall. Relaxing, slow-paced--not for those in a hurry, but great for savoring the ambiance and extremely tasteful food. We were there for my husband's birthday and ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu, which is a great opportunity to try items not necessarily on the regular menu. All food was excellent. We also received some unexpected items to taste that were not specifically listed (likely part of the tasting menu)--again, excellent taste. Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.
The appetizers were quite tasty. But my main course of beef tenderloin, although cooked to my liking, arrived cold. When I mentioned this to the waitress at the end of the meal, she looked genuinely horrified and offered to cook me a small portion right then and there. Since I was mostly full, I declined and ordered dessert. I ordered a flourless chocolate cake. Instead of one piece I was given two pieces. And when the check arrived, I was not charged for my main course, which was quite pricey. Hats off to the staff at Tchoup Chop for correcting a mistake.
What can one say about any of Emeril's restaurants. Tchoup Chop is truly among one of the best in the area. The ambience and the decor are wonderful and the food is outstanding. They have waitstaff teams so you are never without anything that you need. The waitstaff (especially Sean's) always seem to anticipate your needs before you even realize that you need something. It is perfect polynesian flair that justs makes you wanting more. This is a must for vacationers and locals alike. I highly recommend it. Everyone you encounter at Tchoup Chop goes above and beyond what I would expect from a restaurant in a tourist area.
The hostess sat us at a bar table, we then moved to a 4 seat table in the restaurant. Our whole meal was served and eaten in 40 minutes. I have spent longer in McDonalds. Our waiter, although pleasant, had zero knowledge of the menu and/or the dishes . I chose Lamb Shank which tasted and looked as if it had been boiled not slow roasted. Very very poor experience indeed. Only good thing was the Wild Berry Beer !
The service at Tchoup Chop is always personal and helpful. While they don't "hover" over you, they always make sure everything about your dining experience is above average. The "little touches" like "Welcome back!" are greatly appreciated. The food is always phenomenal! While we haven't tried everything on the menu, we have enjoyed everything we have been served. Special occasions are celebrated with personal touches appropriate to the occasion. All in all, it's a wonderful experience and everyone should try Tchoup Chop!
Exellent creative food. Very nice decor. Service was very good. Friendly waitstaff. This. Is a great place for a special occasion. In a city of thousands of mediocre or worse restaurants, this is one of the few places where the food quality justifies the prices.
