The food was outstanding as always. I felt that the service was not as good as it had been in my past experience. However this would not prevent me from going back. It may have simply been an off night.
About 1/3 of the room was visually cut off by a tall floor to ceiling curtain for a private party. This severely affected the architectural ambiance in a large negative way. The restaurant should consider a private party division that is only waist high, or some other room, so the great design and space can be enjoyed by all in its intended perspective. The service was inattentive. I had to ask for salt 3 times. Perhaps the better waiters were serving the private party? The food appears to have slipped from when I visited a few years ago. I do not think I would go back again. In general, the restaurant and staff seemed very tired. All the other Royal Pacific hotel restaurants were much more upbeat and each had excellent food and service.
The valet greeted us warmly as we arrived and that was the highlight of the evening. We were greeted rudely as we entered Tchoup Chop. We were seated quickly. The server team was introduced and the service that followed was spotty at best. The appetizers’ were good. Only one of three entrées was edible and never did our servers ask how the food was. The lamb shanks came with a sauce that could best be described as the black goo at the bottom of a coffee pot that was on a few hours too long. The desserts were average at best. Having eaten at 4 other Emeril restaurants, it was extremely disappointing. Tchoup Chop was hosting a private affair that night and the regular patrons were only an afterthought. Eat at the City Walk Emerils.
Beautiful restuarant, wide menu selection, excellent food.
Our food was spectacular, but the service wasn't great. We waited 45 minutes for a table past our reservation time (they told us we were waiting for a specific table to get up) and yet the restaurant was never completely full. I had the chicken breast (which was more like half a chicken) and a guest had the duck breast, which he said was one of the best he'd tasted.
This is the third time we have visited. Food is consistently good and imaginative. Atmosphere is very vibrant and the staff is very attentive. Nice evening and recommend highly.
We have visited several times and at each time the food has been consistently superb. A brilliant combination of flavors!!
Excellent Restaurant, Excellent Food, Excellent Service, the way it supposed to be done in my opinion, 5 stars all the way, a great anniversary experience.
Eaten here many times. This time it was off. Service was not great. First they had salmon, then they did, then they did. Duck took forever to come out, then overdone. Waiter was oddly unaware but when we told the manager she was wonderful and made it right. Kudos to her, not the waiter. Will go back because of her.
Overall was a great restaurant. I've been here before and the food was excellent, but this time around the entree Of Mongolian Ribs and the Salmon were less than satisfactory. The Ribs were way under the salt and the salmon was overcooked. Although the appetizers were excelent, the crunchy shrimps and the dumplings.
we loved it; when we got there we noticed places were set at the bar which looks into an open kitchen; we asked and we got to spend our dinner watching the kitchen do it's magic; really fun!; only complaint: they ask that you re-confirm your reservation by 3:00 p.m. on day of reservation; fine; but answer the phone!!!!; we tried for TWO HOURS with a recording saying "all agents busy . . ."; a hassle; but in the end, it was great
Let me start off by saying the egg rolls were the best I had ever eaten. That's why I gave this restaurant a "fair" rating. After that is a long list of complaints. We ordered a flight of Saki because neither my wife or I had ever had it. I asked the waiter how much is cost and he said "I think about $12". When the bill came it was $18. I ordered tiger shrimp that came so over cooked it was like eating rubber balls and impossible to get the tails removed. When I told the waiter about it, he just kind of shrugged it off and said something like, well I guess I can get you some new shrimp. COME ON!! I expect better of an Emeril restaurant. My wife ordered beef ribs that were decent but needed salt. More complaints but I am out of space
Excellent food and service! I would recommend the Chef's tasting menu w/wine pairing to sample much of their fantastic food!
The restaurant is beautiful and the free valet parking is a bonus! The food was on par with PF Changs. Nothing special and nothing I would go back for. We spent $100 for 2 and didn't really walk away with a BAM feeling about the food. Also We had 2 of the most unfriendly servers we have ever experienced. We are Annual Passholders to Disney and Tables In Wonderland members so I will admit our service expectations are high. Disney sets the bar and no one can top it however, these servers were awful no communication... Someone took the order and never told the other, our food sat on a table while another parties order was taken, coffee served but no creamer by the time someone brought it it was cold. Orlando has way better places!
What happened to this restaurant? I have dined at both of Emeril's Universal Restaurant's in the past and they have both been outstanding. No so on this trip. Both Restaurant's have taken a major turn towards "theme park" dining. Horrible food and I mean horrible. At Emeril's the "Redfish with crunchy Potato Sticks" the Potato Sticks were soggy to the point of being inedible. Fish dishes ordered at both restaurants were way overcooked. Get ride of those steam covers in both restaurants...ruins the dish. At Emeril's on City Walk our main dishes actually sat by our table just long enough to make them nice and soggy under those steam covers. Shame on you Emeril.
nice restaurant, excellent service but drink prices a little on the high side. Very good service and pretty surroundings.
Nice atmosphere. Food was delicious. Service was a bit spotty. We were a family of four with 2 teenage boys. The Waiter said he and 2 others would be helping us and he was very informative initially. However, after the initial greeting, he and the others were nowhere to be seen (other than the Waiter spending a lot of time talking to the couple at the table next to us). Took a long time to take our food and wine orders. When the food did come, it was delicious. We had the beef tenderloin which was done perfectly, the tuna, also delicious and moist and shrimp - presentation and taste, great.
Ordered 2 cappaccinos, which took forever to come and ended up only taking 1 to go.
Overall, good experience, but service needs some work.
food was excellent, service was friendly and helpful, restaurant is beautiful with a tropical feel.
The food was delicious, the decor vibrant. Three servers paid attention to our table in flawless teamwork. The manager stopped by our table and even helped in the food presentation. It was clear that the guest experience was important and the staff was very attentive.
Another wonderful trip to an Emeril's!
In resorts, finding really good food at reasonable (for a nice restaurant!) prices is a rarity. The service was great, the atmosphere festive - no complaints or suggestions other than it would be nice to have wine choices starting at slighly lower price points ($40 for a chardonnay when my dinner was only $22 seemed out of whack!).
This is my fourth time at Tchoup Chop. The first 2 times were fantastic, but the third time was not. I went back hoping that the last time was just an "off night", however much to my dismay, the food is just unappealing! My entree was literally tasteless. I did send it back and when it returned it still was terrible. The servers used to be marvelous and experienced. The servers I experienced tonight, were immature and lacked professionalism. Emeril's famous banana cream pie somehow has lost the taste it used to have as many of the entree's our party of 7 ordered. A $500 bill and a restaurant I will not return to in the future. Do yourself a favor and try other fantastic places in the Orlando area.
Tchoup Chop is always a delicious addition to any trip to Orlando area - Great for a Group of people or just a few, staff is knowlegable and food has always been great. Last night had a Starter Sampler platter which had a piece for each person at table - great recommendation from the wait staff.
It was entirely overpriced. The short ribs tasted like a normal pot roast and the pork tenderloin was dry.
The food was yummy and the service was top notch. My tuna came out overcooked and they immediately brought me a new one on the house, no questions asked. It was a beautiful atmosphere and good for well behaved kids. It stood in contrast to our experience staying in the Royal Pacific hotel during winter break. Let's just say that the crazy teenagers running down our halls were not in this restaurant!!
beautiful restaurant and excellent food and service!
Special weekend with 12 yo. Tchoup Chop one night. Emeril's next. Tchoup topped Big E's in everything but service. Shrimp/applewood bacon sushi was phenomenal. Miso soup as good as the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. And sake braised short ribs melted I'm your mouth.
My tuna was awful and I barely touched it bc it tasted so fishy. The server never asked if I had any problems with it even though it was clear I didn't like it. We were celebrating a special occasion and they completely killed it for us. They charged us $22 for one bottle of Lindeman's even though it was priced at $15 on the menu for a 22 oz. bottle and they gave us a 12 oz. one! So terrible it was nothing like the Emeril restaurants in Las Vegas. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
The ambience is excellent, just the right amount of light and noise. The decor is beautiful and soothing. And then there is the food.......the food pairings are unique, creatively plated, and a delight to the taste buds. Don't miss it on your next visit.
Extremely personable and knowledgeable staff, Emeril's Tchoup Chop is truly a gem - a treat for the eyes as well as the tummy. We will most assuredly be returning.
I went for valentines day and everything was perfect, also my date loved it as well.
Arrived 20 minutes early and we were seated... Nice. The service was great, our server's name was Asia. She did a good job! We celebrated our Anniversary and it was Valentine's Day. The food was tasty and we had yummy sake...just overall fantastic evening.
It was great all around! The food and service were outstanding! One tip, parking fir 2 hours was $21 in the hotel lot. I would recommend you park at the universal lot and walk over!
The service was okay. We had to ask for refills on drinks instead of them automatically asking or just refilling. The main course was excellent, but the rib appetizer had a little too much sauce
Food and service was nothing special. Service was slow and not very friendly. My girl friend ordered the rib, it was very fatty. They didn't have salmon, what restaurant that focuses on seafood doesn't have salmon? Food was not hot when it arrived to the table.
If I want seafood I'll visit Moon Fish or Fish Bone next time. Like most restaurants named after famous TV chefs, this was just disappointing.
We enjoyed a romantic Valentine's date in this gorgeously decorated dining room. Seated amidst other elegant adults, we enjoyed the ambiance of romantic, dim, brightly colored lighting, high wood beam ceilings, unique seating, and a gorgeous oversized reflecting pool fountain in the middle of the dining room. Our waiter was helpful and charming, and his food reccomendations were excellent. The Bronzini and wild boar were unique and delicious, and the shrimp appetizer, cocktails and desserts were heavenly treats! I could not finish the banana cream pie, but it was so rich and enjoyable that I when I return I will eat less food on purpose so I can better indulge in that pie!
service was outstanding and the food was amazing. i felt beyond full after the sunday brunch, and that says a lot for me, as i eat until, figuratively, there is no space left in my stomach. the drinks were fantastic, as well (we had the leechee *sp?* martini). all in all, a perfect exerience, we will definitly be going back, and have already told all of our friends about it!
I love this place - we go every time we are in Orlando.
We liked it so much we visited twice during a four day vacation. The Kalua Chicken Egg Rolls were the best appetizer we tried, very flavorful with lots of chicken and the rice vermicelli or bean threads inside were a great compliment. The seared tuna steak and the grilled shrimp were our favorite mains - we didn't find the shrimp to be salty (something I read in another review) and we tend to be be picky about that. Some of the desserts, such the Chocolate Decadence Torte, are large enough to share. There is a nice fountain in the center of the restaurant and an open kitchen which was fun to watch. The only complaints would be that it gets rather loud and that some of the fried food was a bit greasy.
We decided to try this, as we had a couple of wonderful experiences at Emeril's other restaurant. The place is so beautiful and we chose the tasting menu with the wine parings after angsting over so many wonderful choices. The food was delicious, but the service was spotty. There was lots of very friendly staff, but they weren't working in concert. Overall a good experience and I would return the next time I find myself in Orlando.
