Emerald Rose Ratings and Reviews
The Emerald Rose is fine dining at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and helpful in selections. The food is excellent. This has become our favorite restaurant in the area and we bring all of our out of town friends there. It is really two restaurants in one. On one side, there is a pub with great entertainment and a warm friendly atmosphere and on the other side a really nice quieter restaurant for more formal dinners and family gatherings.
I’ve been here many times and been very pleased, but this night was not up to usual standards. It was busy, a birthday gathering of 12 might have contributed to the extremely slow service. I ordered a side of grilled asparagus for $4.99 and there were 5 small stalks, plus 2 toothpick sized stalks. I asked if this was complete as it was a meager at best serving. She said another diner complained also, but did nothing to remedy the situation. I know they are in business to make money, but really?
Just great! Big work party of 17 that I organized. We're not from the area I've never eaten here so obviously a little bit nervous hoping everybody would have a good time and the food will be great. I could've asked for more. The host Terrie was delightful and easily added extra people that arrived. With two servers which is so nice It did not delay our meal at all again due to having a large party. Thank you so much And we will be back again
The Emerald Rose is a consistently good restaurant. The service is good, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. The only reason they did not get outstanding is because of their coupon/birthday policy. They changed their "free" birthday dinner to the day of only. It used to be you could go during your birthday month. They could at least let you use it the weekend before or after your birthday.
The night started out waiting for a waitstaff for more than 20 minutes. I walked around and couldn't find the manager or waitress. Finally asked a waitress to help us. Once they figured out their was a communication problem among the staff they were very apologetic. The manager came over an apologized and gave us a complimentary appetizer. The rest of the night they were very attentive.
Our meal was a disappointment. My husband and I both ordered the clam chowder. I couldn't eat it. My husband said he could get through his but would never order it again. It was extremely smokey. It wasn't a smoked bacon or salt pork taste. It was liked they had put liquid smoke in it. Horrible!!!
I had a chicken dish which was so overseasoned with garlic I need to scrape the sauce and cheese off the chicken. I just couldn't get through it all. I took home half of it and it's still sitting in the refrigerator, 2 days later. It probably will end up in the trash.
My husband had the turkey dinner which he enjoyed.
The highlight of the evening was our server, Melissa. She was personable and efficient.
I won't be going to The Emerald Rose in the near future. Interestingly both the Café Escadrille and Emerald Rose are owned by the same gentleman. Café escadrille is fabulous!!! What a difference.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant; lunch on a Sunday. We were seated immediately in a booth which we had requested. Ambiance is pleasant on the dining room side (there is a very large bar/pub area opposite, separated by a full wall). The homemade chip app was terrific; nothing better than thin, hot and crispy potato chips with a tangy dipping sauce! The warm Irish bread was a special treat too. Our waitress was quite personable. While it didn't seem overly busy for Sunday lunch, we went long stretches of time without seeing her. Since we weren't in any particular hurry this was a huge deal, but should be taken into consideration if you're on any type of time schedule. The chicken pot pie was a good portion, hot and creamy with a beautiful, light puff pastry top. The Cobb salad was quite large with enough to take home for seconds. The chicken with artichoke and spinach served over penne pasta was quite tasty. Overall a good meal for a good price. We'll probably be back to try some of the more traditional Irish foods.
