Second time there. This visit was before a show. Food was great, service excellent, and for Chicago a good price value.

My wife and I ate a late night dinner and brunch the next day at this establishment. We found the food to be good. The brunch was a typical offering we felt that the food could have been warmer than it was and that the breakfast muffins etc, could have been fresher than they were. Actually enjoyed the dinner more as found the spinach dip to be quite good. Would have rated the food higher had we only had dinner and not the brunch. The place was quite, clean, cozy, and overall pleasing. We must admit that the service was quite good at both dinner and the brunch. Felt that the food was very reasonably priced remember you are in Chicago. The restaurant was very conveniently located in regard to the Hilton that we stayed at.

We stopped for dinner prior to the theater. All four ladies in our girls night out group ordered very different food and all loved our dinner. I personally had the brisket. It was extremely tender. I wish it had a bit less sauce. It was accompied by a very delicious Mac n cheese, cornbread, peach cobbler and coleslaw. Our service for drinks and check was a bit slow, however it was a busy Saturday night, so totally understandable. Would highly recommend this casual spot to grab a delicious bite of food. This bustling restaurant/bar would also make a great place to meet for drinks and appetizers.

Slow service during the lunch crowd was disappointing since it wasn't that busy! Food was good...I'd recommend the BBQ chicken flatbread and brisket sandwich !

Started with the cheese curds...not as good as hoped for. Too much breading and not a fresh taste. We then ordered fish and chips and the daily special of corn beef and cabbage. Amazing! Both dishes were above expectations.

Took the family to see a play at the Goodman. Thought the food was overpriced for the types of dishes served.

I have been going to Emerald Loop since they opened several years ago and they have never disappointed. Their mac and cheese is PHENOMENAL and service impeccable. It's a nice, cozy atmosphere. I had the classic mac and cheese with add-ons of caramelized onions and bacon. I don't think I can ever eat mac and cheese from anywhere else ever again.

We were in the city for a doctor's appointment and chose to arrive a day early to stay downtown and see some new places. The Emerald Loop was just across the street from our hotel and the description of the place caught our attention. Early Sunday afternoon, the place wasn't terribly busy so we really got to enjoy our visit. The food was wonderful, our waitress was very good, and overall we really fell in love with the place. We'll be back!

Had great selections of normalish food, but 4 beers cost $30. We ordered an appetizer, soup and sandwiches and all came out at the same time. The German pretzel jus the size of your head.

Our table was ready when we arrived. Waitress was attentive . Food was great. Noise level was a little loud but it was a Friday night in an Irish pub. I would recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant was way understaffed. Service was slow. We waited forever for our server to initially appear, forever for drink refills, forever with dirty dishes on our table, etc. A couple of times we flagged down the manager, but he usually just stood around ignoring the needs of tables around him. No one asked how my food was. The meat was fatty and I could not eat most of it.

Honestly the only good thing about eating here was the building is really old and had Al Capone history...
The service was not great, food was kind of gross...
They did have a bunch of TVs for football, which is a plus

The regular mac and cheese was delicious, as was the huge portion of fish with the fish and chips. It's nice to see Smithwick's on tap, and to see someone who really knows how to draw a black and tan.

Food was mediocre to bad. I had the Sheppards pie and it was dry and really salty. Customers had the fish and chips and brisket which got no comment from them one way or the other. My wife had the fish as well and sad it tasted like grease and didn't care for it. Service was awful as the waitress felt it necessary to scold us for calling for her as she never came around. Wouldn't recommend.

My daughter and I ate at Emerald Loop before attending a concert downtown. I was surprised the place was fairly empty on a Saturday night, but I was glad it wasn't too crazy. We ordered the spinach dip for an appetizer, and immediately sent it back. It tasted like it was made with cheese soup and didn't taste good at all. We split a Caesar salad which was very good and very large, and I had the mac and cheese and she had the fish and chips. Both were decent, and we overall enjoyed our meal. Total, dinner was under $50 including tip, which is a great deal for a Saturday night downtown.

My wife and I had a great meal here. A small Smithwick's to begin and a full size Guinness with our meal. Happy hour gave us a great deal on the Guinness. We had an early dinner because of our train schedule. I had had the fish and chips. A huge portion of fish and a small fryer basket of fries. A little too much coating, but overall very good. My wife had the blackened salmon without the blackened. They were very accommodating. We had a window seat so we could watch all the people walking by. Outside seating, but it was raining.

The food was delicious. My husband and I both had the brisket grilled cheese and key lime pie for dessert. Both were amazing. However, we were there for a 430 reservation and service was very slow. There were hardly any people at the time so being busy was not the reason. My hubby ordered the Strawberry Basile Vodka and there was no alcohol in it. I really do no drink so I can taste alcohol in anything...this had ZERO. We commented to our server to which she replied it is a premix so the alcohol is already in there. Ummm...nope, someone messed up. $10 for a strawberry lemonade is pretty steep. Food is great...just do not expect much in service!

Needing a place for a pre-theater dinner, we found Emerald to be a good neighborhood place. We were there during Happy Hour so the bar area was quite noisy but the noise level was much lower away from the bar. We both had fish and chips. Very good fish, with the right amount of breading and quite crisp. The fries, though tasty, could have been crisper. Beer list was decent, with a nice, if typical, selection of Irish brews. Our server was pleasant and efficient. Prices, especially for the location, were quite reasonable.

Great atmosphere. Perfectly poured Guinness! Cheese balls delicious. Mussels were bad... half were not open (a big no no), broth salty yet bland and certainly not worth the money. Service was pleasant. Overall... it was okay. Seemed perfect for happy hour/bar food rather than fine dining.
