ELWAY'S Downtown Ratings and Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere...the great attention from the staff to details and recommendations..Very friendly well prepared knowledgeable and experienced.
The food was the best I have experienced for a steak...prices were to be expected on such high quality taste.. waiters did a amazing job...all 4 of them..highly recommend
Great name for restaurant...only reason I wwnt..big Elway fan
After waiting over thirty minutes past our reservation time to be seated, we waited another fifteen minutes before someone took our order. The staff seemed extremely impressed with themselves. The food was fair, but overpriced even by steakhouse standards. I would be hard pressed to recommend them, especially when compared with more professional establishments like Fleming's or Ruth's Chris.
As always, the food was terrific. The lamb chop fondue and home made ding dong are both worth the trip alone! My wife's filet was a little dry, but my exact same cut (cooked to the same temperature) was perfect.
The restaurant was exceptionally busy, with a few obvious large group functions, so our service was not up to our normal experience. But the people watching was exceptional.
We have dined at Elways many times before and always have had exceptional service. This visit left a bit to be desired.
No one discussed the menu with us (chef specials, seasonal changes, etc.). We usually get a great run-down of any changes to the standing menu and a good description of the special menu items. Not this visit.
Transitions were very slow, we like to take our time and enjoy the meal and atmosphere, but this meal took about 3 hours for 4 courses, a bit longer than our normal 2 hours for similar menu choices.
This is one of our favorite restaurants, so we will be back and expect the food and service will meet previous levels of excellence.
Elway's is always a go to for us when we are in Denver. We always hit the Airport Elway's for breakfast before we fly out. The downtown Elway's has always been consistent and very good. We enjoy going for brunch. I guess my only complaint is that the downtown Elway's does not offer the same breakfast items as the Airport which is very unfortunate because there are some fabulous breakfast items at the Airport location. But overall you can't go wrong!
Lively restaurant even on a weekday evening. Drinks were competitively priced, service was good, steak was cooked to perfection as was the asparagus. The onion rings were really good. The wine was good. The dessert was ok. The place isn't inexpensive, but you get what you pay for.
My wife and I went to Elway's for our first anniversary and had a fantastic experience. The host was very thoughtful and put a rose on the table and our servers did an excellent job. The best part of the experience was the food. We loved every single bite we had. Thank you Elway's staff for an outstanding meal and fantastic experience.
I made a reservation at Elways thinking that it would be a nice romantic place to take my girlfriend for her birthday weekend but it turned out to be a pretty terrible experience. We were treated as if we werent even there. Our server took atleast 20 minutes to come to the table to go over the menu with us and we only saw her once after that. We were just sitting at the booth being walked by and ignored by multiple staff members until the manager came and asked if we were doing alright which he noticed we werent. He sent over a different server to take care of us but she didnt really show much excitment or enthusiasm about taking care of us, she acted as if we were more of a burden. She was spotty when it came to refilling drinks and a different waiter from another section would occasionally notice that we were being ignored and would refill our water or help us out when he got the chance. Overall some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced and definitley did not expect it from what seemed like a high class place in downtown. I dont know if it was because we are young and it seemed like we werent going to spend a lot of money or what but other tables around us were being tended to regularly by our server! And on the way out we stopped by to grab our coats from the host and we were ignored for at least 5 minutes while two employees were chatting it up with a guy and I was standing right next to him. Will not be returning to Elways and if you are wanting a place for a date night or special occasion look elsewhere. The food is decent but the service and attitude will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Very disappointed to say the least. Have been wanting to dine here for a long time. Finally back in Denver with some friends and recommended we eat there for the bday celebration.
Service was ok, we have two working with us -One was great and very attentive, the second was slow and forgot everything we requested. Frustrating.
Food was not good. I ordered the lamb and it was over cooked and dry, the side dishes were terrible (Brussels sprouts, Yukon potatoes, cauliflower, asparagus). Should have listened to others. These were not good and a waste of money. Wife’s filet was good and friends dishes were satisfactory (my strip, ribeye).
Dessert was the best part (cookies, cheesecake).
All in all, there are several other steakhouse options in Denver that have better food and much better value. I would not recommend this location.
My wife and I shared a salad, steak, baked potato, and two drinks. For $150 (includes tip), the steak was below average. Do $55 filets have 1/4 fat?? Apparently this one did! Outstanding service (way to go Adam!) and the ambience is top notch. But you can't serve that kind of filet at that kind of price with that quality and expect a good review. Our normal go-to place is The Famous in Colorado Springs. The food is MUCH better. Sorry Elways - we love ya' - but don't do that . . .
The turtle cheesecake was amazing!! I also had the 10oz lobster tail and crab fried rice. The crab fried rice was delicious and so was the lobster tail. 10oz of lobster tail is hard to get through though so I do wish they had smaller portion options available. My appetizer was a potato dip and it was the greatest dip if ever had!
