About

This restaurant is permanently closed. ELOISA-

My grandma Eloisa Rivera was the first person to teach me how to cook. Indeed, women have always formed the foundation of New Mexico’s culinary heritage. Abuelas. Madres. Tias. Hermanas. Their hearts and their hands have been in every dish associated with New Mexico. Among the world’s great cuisines, New Mexican cooking is undoubtedly the most elemental. Fiery chiles. Earthy beans. Ethereal corn. Celestial water from the acequias that irrigate the ranchos. Our cocina celebrates Grandma Eloisa, all Southwestern women, and their satisfying, down-to-earth foods.

The new menu has New Mexican dishes and mixture of pleasing American favorites. The Kolbe burger and green Chile soup are delicious.

We went with several of the small plate selections. We listened to the staff's descriptions/recommendations and were not disappointed. The wait staff members were very helpful and friendly. The jicama tacos are not to be missed; the Portuguese shrimp, also, is a wonderful dish. We had the featured Malbec which we liked and the pour was generous!

Service was over the top. The chef was even going to make me a meal that was no longer on the menu. Chicken pot pie was great with a green chili kick. My friend liked the Kobe beef Hamburger. The food is really good and the free parking in their lot makes this my preferred restaurant.

New menu is fantastic! They’ve kept some of the favorites but have added many new delightful items to the menu. The huevos rancheros were fantastic today! My husband had the pan seared trout...gorgeous. He has some dietary issues and everyone was incredibly attentive to his needs. The space is a lovely space, as always. The staff are super professional, I’m going out on a limb and saying that Eloisa is now my number one restaurant choice in Santa Fe!

The first clue should’ve been the fact there was A table of two besides us. Service was good and the Bloody Mary was tasty. The skillet hash was terrible like warm at best and dripping in grease. Would not recommend.

An overall excellent. We went for Restaurant Week and had the three course dinner. Appetizer salsas were very good - would have preferred a little chunkier, as was the trout - fish itself slightly dry, with an excellent apricot panna cotta dessert. Sam’s hard cider was also excellent. This is my third visit to Eloisa’s and I have enjoyed them all.

When 8 thirsty & hungry women are at same table it’s difficult to pull everything off perfectly but Eloisa got it right... in every way! Mario, our server was patient & kind! There were other staff that contributed to our wonderful experience but I didn’t get their names. Food came out on time & was spot on! I didn’t hear anyone complain about anything! We loved being in the private room. We were able to relax & enjoy the evening without feeling rushed. It was my suggestion to choose Eloisa & we’ll definitely be back! My favorite dish...Sweet corn flan w/poblano cream sauce & black quinoa! Fabulous!

Had a great dining experience here! The food was tasty and the service was excellent. We were there on a Saturday evening and they had a guitarist which added to the fun. I am a lover of hoppy IPA's and their menu was limited in the beer area. I ended up with a pink Margarita-like concoction at the recommendation of our waiter and it was delicious. The crab cakes were excellent. Good food, great service, and fun ambiance all made for an memorable dining experience. We will be back!

Food was very tasty. My husband and I split the Portugese shrimp appetizer, and I had the Ultimate Posole. My husband had the chili-braised enchiladas. All very fresh and good.

Located in the Drury Plaza Hotel, this is an excellent restaurant. On a Sunday Evening, service was spot on, food amazing, and ambience lovely. Live music with a spanish guitar added to the magic. Priced well for the type of experience we had. Bottom line, we will be back. I recommend.

While the food was pretty good, it is quite overpriced for what you get, and I think it would be better if food was not so completely ala carte. For example we went to the Sunday brunch and one of the people in our party ordered an omelette. It came on a plate all by it's lonesome-no potatoes, no toast, not even an orange slice. There was not even any toast on the menu. Another in our party ordered lamb skewers and they arrived with some red peppers on the skewers along with the lamb and nothing else. Mimosas were not even on the menu, which is odd for a brunch.

The service was horrible. It was Valentine's Day, and the place was packed. Between and servers and the kitchen, they could not handle the volume of customers they decided to seat. The waits for everything were ridiculously long. We were seated on time, but that was it. Waited for menus, waited for water, waited to be asked if we wanted drinks, waited, and waited, and waited. Dirty dishes sat on the table for a long time, and a plate of rib bones was never collected. The kitchen got my order wrong, which I sent back, so we weren't weren't able to begin eating at the same time. The food was good, but the crappy service ruined the evening. Way too much money for that kind of production.

We appreciate your feedback so much and for taking the time to share it. We certainly take everything you have pointed out to heart and feel terrible that you had to experience this horrible service failure on such a special evening. We would love the opportunity to right this "wrong" and invite you back to showcase what the real Eloisa experience is like. I will attempt to contact you privately to make the arrangements.

My husband and I have dined at some of the best restaurants around the country qnd Eloisa is definitely in the top 5 if not number 1. The food was PHENOMENAL. The service was outstanding as well. I also loved the shabby chic decor mixed with the modern art. 5 stars Eloisa.

Eloisa has never disappointed, and this meal was no exception. I love the new lunch menu, divided into Spanish, New Native/Puebloan, and two others I don't remember because we found complete happiness in those two categories. The sweet corn flan was exquisite in flavor and texture, and the tortillas florales are always a must. Piquillo peppers stuffed with Spanish chorizo and golden raisins, rather than the more common (and more than a little tired) goat cheese, were delicious. The lamb empanadas were full-flavored, though not as spicy as we had anticipated. The orange tres leches cake was perfectly flavored and textured, very fresh. And for panna cotta fans, the apricot version is offered with candied pistachios and a caramelized edge to the apricots. Annette gave us warm and personal service, and she went out of her way to give us excellent wine recommendations, including the very welcome option of half-pours so that we could drink a white with the first two dishes and a red with the others, without being faced with more than we wanted to drink at mid-day. Everything was beautifully presented, and it satisfied without leaving us feeling full or heavy. The kitchen and the servers always meet my highest expectations, and I can't wait to go back.

Wonderful dining experience - three creative and well prepared main dishes (salmon, scallops and a daily seafood special). My spouse, who is a tough food critic, absolutely loved the orange tres leches dessert. She hasn’t stopped talking about it. Eloisa has moved to the top of our list for outstanding dinning in Santa Fe.

Service was outstanding, Jude our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. The eccentric Chefs food to say the least was undesirable. The special of schnitzel was over cooked to the point of being shoe leather. The "Woolworth Frito pie" made with wonton chips, was to greasy to eat, the added bay scallops had the texture of hard gum balls.

What a truly lovely restaurant for a lunch gathering. Beautiful light filled room with crisp yet fun service!
My friends enjoyed their tacos and soup! I was not so hungry and choose the Caesar Salad with grilled chicken which was surprisingly blah... not enough dressing & frankly no taste! I added some of my friends black beans and corn which helped...All the rest of entrees and wines were perfect.

We dined on New Year's Eve, our 26th wedding anniversary. The food? it was very good. Fresh and well prepared. Where this restaurant failed was on service. We expected service to match the food. Instead, we received no service. Our waiter disappeared mid-meal for maybe 45 minutes (not an exaggeration). Might have been on a break but nobody came to check on us to see if we needed or wanted anything other than to clear our plates. We were seated at 8:15 and saw only a couple of tables seated after us so the restaurant was not overly busy. After our main course plates were cleared, nobody brought our dessert which we had ordered. After 15 minutes, we had to ask another waiter to get our desserts. During dinner, we placed our water glasses at the edge of the table but wait staff walked by without filling them. We had to ask for more water. Considering this was a special event for the restaurant and for us, we were very disappointed. We did not feel valued as customers. Eloisa did not meet our expectations and we will not be back.

My family and I returned to Eloisa this holiday season after discovering it last December. The food is fantastic—wonderfully and creatively prepared and beautifully presented. The setting is chic. Great for couples, families, and large groups. They have a kids menu, ask for it. Try as many small plates as you can, consider sharing an entree to leave room for at least a couple of desserts. Eloisa also has interesting and tasty cocktails, good wines. Highlights this time were the tortillas florales, potato soup, trout mousse tamale, corn flan, pastrami tacos, chocolate hazelnut cheesecake and mango flan. Still dreaming of the avocado butter that came with the pretty corn tortillas.

This is the second time we have dined at Eloisa. The first experience (about a year ago) was better, but not as good as we had expected based on many dining experiences at Rivera, one of our favorite restaurants during the time it was open in LA. We were seated next to an exterior door that periodically opened to blasts of 20F temperature outside, after requesting not to sit at this table and the hostess telling us that the door did not open ( which I knew was not true since I had just walked through it in entering the restaurant) . The food was especially disappointing. It took a long time to order, and our main courses were not served hot and appeared to have been sitting out a long time before we received them. The tortillas, one of my favorites in LA, were not nearly as exceptional here. I do not write reviews often, but offer this one in hopes that the restaurant will improve.
