Elmo also boasts a high-style private party space in their swanky lounge along with seasonal outside dining in their sidewalk cafe.
Open daily for lunch, dinner and fabulous weekend brunch.
Consistently excellent! Staff is always accommodating and pleasant. I’ve been costumer for many years..... Highly recommended
My girlfriends and i had an excellent experience at Elmo! We’ve been searching for a place to have a monthly dinner and i think we found it!
I was pleasantly surprised finding a fancy restaurant in this neighborhood, though I thought the food was mediocre and was overpriced.
Tasty food and nice ambiance. It was very loud, though. Hard to hear the person across the table.
Good food great service
I used to be a fan of Elmo. Sunday night the place seemed a little lack lustre with just a few guests @ 8.30pm. The food was fair to good and the service likewise, but overall nothing special. Sadly let down, by possibly the worst cocktail ever! The watermelon martini run a close second to cleaning fluid with the later making possibly a more enjoyable drink. Not great overall and I would think twice before making a return visit in a city where ‘good’ is just not ‘good enough!’
Chose this restaurant based off of online menu and because it was near our hotel and planned night out venue. The short rib empanadas were tasty and so was the rum punch. The rest of the food was bland and service was a little on the slow side. We were expecting the food to be slightly more gourmet. If we ever went back, we might try the burrata and salad because they looked good passing by our table.
I've had lunch at Elmo several times and enjoyed the food. This time I went for dinner and found the noise level to be extreme. I had to shout to be heard by my dining companion. It's the ine BIG negative in an otherwise friendly and comfortable restaurant with very good basic comfort food. Too bad, won't ever go back there for dinner!
Lovely for a quick bite...
Great place. Great time. :)
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Loved the ambiance and decor as well and had a really comfortable big booth for three for dinner.
This place is a real treasure - the kind you hope exists but can never find. After searching online for 'gay restaurant midtown', I stopped in for dinner on July 4, and then twice more later that week. It's got a cool, super welcoming vibe, and a wait staff who seem to know all the customers by name. Jonathan, Eric and James all bartended, and since we opted to sit at the bar (and order dinner from there), other regulars (all ages, all really interesting and engaging and HAPPY people), introduced themselves and made us feel like we were a part of something special. That's rare in NY. I wish we lived there - I'd have a new home away from home. Thanks Elmo - we'll be back ASAP. Alan and Seth, Sarasota, FL
Waiters were very nice and the food was fantastic!
Really enjoyed my first visit to Elmo’s restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service. Friendly and inviting atmosphere. Will be going again for sure.
My wife and I were going to a performance at the Atlantic Theater and picked Elmo due to positive reviews on Open Table and great location. We loved Elmo, and will return.
Fun food. Strong drinks. Nice vibe. Burgers are extremely big and good. Highly recommended.
Every time, I travel to NYC, I always include dinner at Elmo. The food is wonderful. The service is great. They never disappoint.
Quiet table for four. Pre-theatre dinner. Service was polite and prompt. Delicious drinks and food.
Great food and cocktails were yummy. Waiter was exceptionally nice.
We are regulars here, not enough to be "known" but at least 8-10 times per year. We like most everything about it. Because they have become more popular I have started to make reservations. I made one for 7:00 PM and we arrived about 6:45. The host said he would need to wait to make sure all the 6:30's were taken care of, mind you if there were any they were already 15 min late. No big deal, we had a cocktail at the bar. We were seated about 7:00 and when I looked around us there were at least 6 empty tables for 2 and several larger empty tables. We'll continue to go there, but this somehow felt dishonest... and actually foolish as this slowed their turn.
Happened upon this restaurant when going to movie nearby. Two of us sat outside, the first real nice day after days of rain, and had a Cobb salad and cheese burger. I also had the special Cosmo. Food hit the spot, the atmosphere was perfect, as was the waiter. Special touch occurred when I ordered a cappuccino and asked for artifice sweetener. Had to ask twice. No real big deal. When bill came I mentioned to waiter he left off the price of the cappuccino. Response was he comped it since he forgot the sweetener. Nice!
Ambulances going by right outside. Food was terrible. Service was good. Never would return.
Server refused to warm my ice cold sandwich, saying it was too busy. In addition, we were billed for an extra salad when we just wanted to swap out fries for a salad.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service. A must for anyone visiting Chelsea.
Loved my first experience eating at Elmo's. Our waiter Rob was outstanding! I can't wait to go again.
Elmo delivers once again with great food, friendly, attentive service and a fun vibe. The Chicken Fried Chicken and Meat Loaf are two entrees that never disappoint, and the warm fruit cobbler with ice cream was excellent!
our entrees and cocktails were great, but the dessert was slightly disappointing unfortunately. Service was decent and the bill was reasonable!
Always good food and a good time at Elmo — a neighborhood fave serving fresh and original dishes. Lots of healthy choices, too!
very loud. Good food. Friendly waiter. The 3 tiered appetizer offering was a meal in itself. The mussels were very good.
Love the food, decor, cocktails, and waitstaff. The noise is a little echoey in the big open space of the restaurant, so you might have to say "what?" a few times to whoever you're dining with.
Meh. Elmo is nice enough. The crowd is lively. A bit too noisy for my taste. Food was okay. Salmon Niçoise salad had plenty of elements. Olives, potatoes, egg, etc. Salmon was prepared with an herb crust which I did not care for. It was a bit overwhelming for the fish. Good glass of unnamed rose wine. My dining partner tried meatloaf and said it was okay.
We chose this restaurant for proximity to the Atlantic Theater.
Consistently good after all these years. Great staff.
Good food, good ambience and vibe, and kind/ beautiful servers.
Service is poor. They forgot to put in our appetizer, which it happens, that’s fine. But, their excuse was “something happened with the shrimp but it should be out with your Entree” .... the appetizer came out AFTER our Entree... we obviously didn’t eat it because we were full from our dinner we waited almost 45 minutes to get.
Then they charged us for the appetizer that came out late and we didn’t eat... when I asked why, the server seemed annoyed and said “oh oops I’ll see if my Manager will take that off”... he did end up taking it off the bill, but the whole thing was a mess. I manage a hotel & restaurant, and service 101 is if you mess up, try to recover. They offered nothing to us, not a drink while we waited.. or a quicker appetizer, like some bread of something, instead just let us sit there. Very sad. Not to mention all their servers look miserable and walk around with their noses up in their little black short shorts.
I have been a regular at Elmo since it opened. Friendly, congenial staff, not to mention handsome and pretty. Great cocktails, great food and really just a fun place. Now it's not a place for intimate and quiet conversations as the noise level can be high depending on what time of day you're visiting. Not only do I recommend it to friends I take all of my out of town friends there at least once, they've all loved it.
Was almost too loud and wait staff were slightly inattentive
This is a really fun place and have been there years ago. The food was disappointing, and service was mediocre.
I’ve been to Elmo numerous times ... the service this time was not good. We needed to look for our server every time ... had to wait to order drinks, apps and entrees. The restaurant wasn’t very busy so there’s no excuse for poor service.
Great service great food
