Great lunch - enjoyed the lobster roll and chicken liver mousse!! Host was warm and friendly as well! Wine list is well curated and reasonably priced with many options well under $100.
The kids menu is definitely not an after thought here, next time I may order the meatballs for myself! Will be back soon.
Elm Restaurant is a true gem located in the heart of New Canaan, a quaint little yuppy town filled with great boutiques and shops. To dine here is a true experience - everything on the menu is meticulously sourced, the crowd is attractive, and the service impeccable. I dined here with two girlfriends and we enjoyed our food so much we shared all our dishes. Faves included the shishito peppers, Iberian ham, cavatelli with njudia and honey, veal piccata - but the spaghetti carbonara was the standout. The wine list was excellent and for dessert we enjoyed what could possibly be the best espresso martini on earth.
I came in for a quick bite; ended up having a whole dinner. Very satisfied with the service and the atmosphere of this restaurant.
The oysters were sensational! My waiter told me everything about them and where they come from, very knowledgeable staff. The animal burger could be one of the best I’ve ever had. Gem among the Fairfield dining scene.
My wife and I had a date, thanks to you guys it was amazing! We tried the tuna tartare for the first time and it was excellent. The atmosphere was very pleasant as well.
I stopped by again, had the kale salad and the chicken... delicious!
We stumbled upon our new favorite go-to restaurant in New Canaan, CT the other night, Elm! Started with the empanadas and shishito peppers, followed by the cabbage salad, and split an "animal-style" burger which might just be better than In-N-Out's original version. All the portions were reasonably sized and our server was very attentive the entire night. Will definitely becoming back...especially for the awesome wine list. One of the best in the area! Elm gets 5 stars in my book.
Food and service were great, even the chef asked how our food was. Will definitely come again!!
Had the best dinner in a while at Elm the other night. Not only is it super cute, but every dish is soooo good. We ordered the tuna tartar, kale salad and a bunch of the homemade pastas and were seriously impressed with the service and cocktails. It's our new favorite date night spot, but can't wait to try brunch there too!
Elm was a disappointment on a few levels. Our server made mistake after mistake. Wrong cocktails despite trying to clarify our choices with him. Three out of four salads arrive and when questioned about the fourth the server seemed unaware he had made an error. My sister n ordered steak and was told ten minutes later it was not available (rookie mistake by a server for sure...but that was a minor issue.) The food was good.
Every time we asked for more of something it took a long time to get it. The last straw...when we were getting ready to finish up my daughter realized there was a fly in the bottom of her red wine glass...lovely!!
I expressed my concern to the server and to the manager who subsequently asked about my concerns. They did reduce the bill which was a good willl gesture for sure and apprdiated but it still was expensive and the whole evening very unstatisfying and upsetting.
This was our first trip to New Canaan and it was really enjoyable. My husband and I have a lovely brunch at Elm today. The food was delicious and the menu was very fresh and current. The restaurant is very tastefully designed and decorated, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant is on the main street in town and there are lots of shops to explore nearby. If you’re looking for a weekend day trip from the city it’s also super close to the train station. We will definitely be back for sure.
Perfect dining experience! Food was excellent!
My husband and I had a very enjoyable experience at Elm. The food was great, the restaurant is lovely, and the staff was very friendly
The restaurant is closed for renovations - Open Table needs to take the reservation function down.
The food and service were of high quality, but the high decibel noise level made it difficult to converse with friends.
This was our 1st visit. The food and service were very good. The smaller menu lets them concentrate on quality. We will return.
Sensational food but relatively small portions. Thought that went out with the recession. Ah but this is New Canaan. That said Luke is a noble successor to Brian Lewis. Acoustics bad.
Service and food were really very good. It was so noisy it was nearly impossible to talk to my wife across a small table
Great good and unique takes on some traditional plates! Will definitely be back!!
Horrible. Bread came before drinks. Apps served within seconds of the drinks and entrees brought while we were eating appetizers. Horrible. Hubs and I ordered the same meal but they looked totally different. Horrible. Not the same since the former owner left. Horrible.
Went for lunch twice recently - really good sandwiches. Quiet enough to enjoy catching up with a business friend I haven't seen in a while. Looking forward to giving it a try for dinner. Definitely would go back.
Overall the restaurant, service, and ambiance was wonderful. I had the veal dish and felt that it was overdone, too oily, and too expensive. It would if wonderful if the dishes were more healthy/fresh.
Lovely dinner and very pleasant service.
The scallops were delicious.
The pasta was poorly prepared. Chicken was dry. Nice ambiance, but the food needs better preparation.
The food was excellent. Service was great and it wasn't noisy. Terrific bartender as well. The ambience is upscale but casual. I hadn't been back to this restaurant for many years and was surprised at how much better the menu selection was. The menu was creative and diverse in selection including fish, meat, vegetables and farm to table choices.
I was actually there for dinner 2 days in one week, and both nights were really wonderful. Highly recommend the Elm.
Very disappointing meal - Overpriced mediocre food and lousy service at 6 PM on Father's Day with only 3 other tables. Skip this one!
Food was very good and our server was great Did have to wait a long time for our food but they comped us side dishes which was nice.
Nice place but the food was just ok.
Very Overrated Restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. Service was subpar; dinner brought before we made a dent in appetizers.
BROUGHT A VISITING CHEF FRO OSLO NORWAY WHO ENJOYED MY SUGGESTION OF LOBSTER ROLL IMMENSELY. IT WAS A VERY HOT DAY SO THEIR BABY BEGAN TO FUSS AS WE WERE ENJOYING OURSELVES
Food are well prepared. But very common items came at quite high price and smaller than usual portions. The entree are really tapas small plate portion
Very good all around; the second time I've eaten here & was very impressed with the food & service. Pretty quiet on a Sunday evening.
Veal Scallopini. That's really enough said right there, trust me, it's exquisite. But wait, there's more! The Skirt Steak with bone marrow....Diver Scallops, all YUM!
Brunch is fun too, with the "Bloody Mary Menu" that each diner receives. I had the "Amish Chicken Club" for brunch, which I would normally not order in a higher end restaurant (too ordinary?) BUT, I've ordered it two time now. It get's noisy, and it's New Canaan, so it's not cheap, but it is good!
I previously dined at Elm for dinner and was very impressed, so I was excited to try brunch. Elm did not disappoint. The service was attentive without being intrusive and our food was delicious. We started with the avocado appetizer. It was essentially a guacamole without onions. It came with piping hot corn rounds - a perfect match for the avocado. Our server brought us fresh hot refills when we ran out (without any prompt from us). My friend got the duck bacon bowl (which she said was great) and I got the spring omelette. The omelette was very tasty, but I think the potatoes were the star of the dish! I look forward to going to Elm again sometime soon.
We had a great food experience but the noise level was so high that we could not talk to each other. We will only go back if we can sit outside.
Everything was delightful -- food was delicious, our waiter Tom was outstanding, and the musicians who play on Thursday nights are outstanding -- really added to the ambience. Will be back soon!
Lunch was delicious at this local spot. I have been a number of times and it is always very good.
This past Saturday was my third time dining at Elm restaurant. I had eaten there once before for dinner, and another time for brunch. All three experiences were outstanding! This time my wife and I started with tostados and avocado. The tostados were hot, fresh out of the oven making them extra delicious. My wife and I then shared a kale, quinoa, smoked cheese and cherry salad. The salad was delicious. The combination of kale along with the smoked cheese and cherry dressing combined expertly. For entrees my wife had the lobster and black rice risotto. This was one of the best lobster risotto's I have had. I had the scallops - again prepared expertly. For dessert we had the mango cremieux with a ginger ice cream. Delectable. All in all, I can't wait to return to the Elm for dinner.
