Food was cold service was long. A little disappointed fir the price
Great service and food
The eggs benedict was runny and uneventful, but the pancakes were in a new category of delicious. I didn't know you could make pancakes better, but they did it somehow
We couldn't be more pleased with our experience at Ellyngton's at the Brown Palace. Our server, Anthony, went above and beyond for my husband's birthday brunch. There was also live piano music, and the musician came around to introduce himself to us. The food was delicious -- different in the best way. Very special. The entire experience was a delight! We will be happy to go back again soon.
A wonderful brunch space with live piano. The pianist came by to chat a bit. Danny is great. Food was good, but not spectacular for the price. The menu changed from online as well, so the selection was limited. Then, the waiter blew it. He came over immediately when we sat, we asked a couple questions, then said we just needed just a couple minutes to decide. Well..15-20 minutes later he finally took our order. It wasn't even busy, he just kept disappearing into the kitchen. It was odd for an upscale place. May or may not be back. We'll see.
Hostess rude, Staff hurried and not attentive. Food was okay.
We were at Ellynton’s for a birthday celebration. Our first impressions were not good. All the tablecloths were threadbare at the hems, we sat near a piece of plywood leaned against the brass rails which apparently was the servers’ station. I’m guessing the “tea time” guests took precedence as we waited a long time for everything - service (why not some bread? Or appetizers?), our entrees - which were served with salad forks (where were the dinner forks?), and a delayed dessert because the piano player was taking a break. The fondue had stale pound cake - did the fresh cake go to the tea customers? All in all, the disappointment of the meal was overshadowed by the feeling the Brown Palace is on hard times. If Marriott took over, they have work to do to bring the standards back to a once beautiful place.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and our reservation was kind of last minute - the staff at Ellyngton went above and beyond to make our breakfast special! Anything we asked for they made it happen. 10/10 would recommend and will make sure to visit again.!
Well, I would like first to thank all the staff in the hotel and the restaurant including the lobby staff, they are friendly, helpful and polite to everyone of my guests which i have invited there for my lunch time. In the meanwhile I proposed to my wife there in the lobby and I asked her hand to marry me and I gave her the engagement ring and she accepted, so happy and excited.
Special thanks for the hotel waiters for the champagne. And of course big thanks to the pianists.
Thanks to all of you for the great momenta we had.
My family went to the a-la-carte brunch here for my mother’s birthday this past Sunday, as going to their brunch buffet for special occasions is family tradition. The a-la-carte experience wasn’t quite as good as their buffet, but the food was delicious and unlimited champagne was still, fortunately, an option. The highlight of our experience was our server, Dawa. He was not only extremely kind and courteous, but also made the day very special with complimentary dessert and a few other accoutrements. He went above and beyond to create a truly phenomenal experience, which is typical of Ellyington’s waitstaff. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We had the corned beef hash n eggs. Found it very delicious. Service was excellent.
For such a high rated Brunch it was one of the worst I have had.
Wonderful experience. Dawa, our waiter, was the absolute best! Eggs Benedict amazing and so was everything else we ordered. The atmosphere is unmatched in this historic hotel. And the Brunch Jazz piano player was the pièce de ré·sis·tance! Request a table near the piano if that’s your preference. I would have preferred being seated closer to the action but the back of the dining area wasn’t bad. Thanks to Jerome for his hospitality and kindness. What a wonderful experience. Would do it over and over again.
Visiting relatives from out of town. Thank you Keith.
They said their waffle makers has been broken for weeks…go buy one from Walmart, what a terrible excuse.
We had a great time! Erik was fantastic, responsive, and really made my wife feel special for her birthday. Overall amazing experience. A slight ding because the food quality felt like it went a little bit down, whereas prices didn't, but overall loved it and it was delicious.
Only piece we would love to see, they have a dress code clearly listed, but it's not enforced. It's a beautiful place and it would be nice to see the dress code enforced. Kind of a bummer coming in Sunday Best and at the next table over there's flip flops and a baseball cap.
Brunch was delicious. I had the avocado toast my son had the corn beef hash which he said was amazing. Danny on piano was a very nice touch and our server was exceptional
I wanted to like this place SO much but unfortunately it left a lot to be desired. We were in for breakfast on a Monday morning (so it was very slow) yet service was incredibly slow, our waitress never came back and a new person came over and it was clear that the previous waitress hadn't communicated with our new waiter at all. It seemed that every table around us was having issues as well -- one table's check was wrong, one table got the wrong order, etc. I'd heard nothing but stellar reviews from previous guests so we went out of our way to do breakfast here. The food was decent, but not worth $55 for breakfast -- especially with the other factors. I'd potentially try again because maybe it was an off day, but I'd be a little hesitant to do so. The hotel itself was beautiful though, so I'd definitely go again for drinks at some point.
Little pricey but beautiful restaurant and friendly server!
Michael and Daniel were our waiters and they were SO nice! The food was good, it was a nice relaxing breakfast. I would definitely recommend to friends!
Great place for a quiet breakfast with a good range of choices.
The food was terrible all around. They need a new chef
Extremely over-rated at this point. Compared to “Lobby Tea” and “Palace Arms” restaurant, this breakfast experience leaves much, much to be desired. Maybe it’s because they are just getting back-up from Covid, but table clothes had rips and tears, table wasn’t set when we sat down. An IHOP/Denny’s with a fancy decor.
Like most restaurants post-pandemic, they are severely under staffed. Our waiter was excellent but was fighting a losing battle as he appeared to be covering the entire dining room w just 1-2 other servers. The wall next to our table was covered w stains. The entrees were underwhelming but the pancakes were excellent. Again-Kudos to the waitstaff!
I was very disappointed. I was hoping for the beautiful brunch that I have experienced in the past, but that was far from what we got. The menu choices were limited, no beautiful buffet, and the whole experience was sub par. The place is in dyer need of updates, the table clothes were wrinkled and fretted. The bathroom was dirty and in need of several repairs. The food was also sub par and not worth the price. The only redeemable feature was the crime brûlée, which was very good. I will not be returning again.
A very special brunch with Dad. Thanks again for sharing your delightful service & delicious menu with us!
We’ll be back soon!
Terrific breakfast ! Staff was very attentive and pleasant !
Very dated dining room but that also comes with the character and history of the building. Very expensive food and portions are very small. The champagnes brunch special is expensive and not worth the price. I would hate to say I’m disappointed but I’m disappointed in price per value.
Before COVID, we had numerous special experiences as Sunday champagne buffet brunch here.
So it's still an elegant setting, and the band was, as always, marvelous.
It was made very clear that this would be plate service, not buffet. This is the (waning) period of COVID-19, so I expected and accepted a dialing down of things with the (temporary?) suspension of buffet here. This was ... not that good.
From the web advert, and how I expected things to go, it would be a "Yes, it's effectively a buffet of items, but that basically means someone will need to go to the kitchen to get what you want for you." That would have been great. And that's not what we got.
Instead, we got a moderately limited, very normal breakfast menu. And the execution was ... decidedly mixed.
The quiche was nice, but not particularly flavorful.
The massive corned beef was was dry.
The "Colorado Hot Dish" (eggs, fried tortilla chips, green chile) was a dry+soggy mess, and the "over easy" eggs were non-runny hard.
The side of bacon was excellent.
One of the features of the Ellyngton Sunday brunch in days gone by was the champagne. This still comes in three price levels, but it's served in ... a carafe? I mean, kinda tacky, not to mention the effervescence cost of pouring champagne into a carafe.
I'm not sure if it's a matter of COVID restrictions retained beyond requirement, or just a money-saving dial-down of service, but, quite honestly, this was a disappointing brunch for the price, given what we've experienced in the past.
Without confirmation that things have reapproached the Days Before, we'll likely not be back.
We had brunch for my daughter’s birthday in the wait staff went out of their way to bring us a nice dessert and have the piano player sing happy birthday to her. That made it very special considering the Buffay was not there. Service at Brown Palace is impeccable deep sense of passion for hospitality. My family, local denverites, really enjoyed our little escape to this beautiful establishment
Nothing compares to Ellyngton's traditional Sunday Brunch but despite the necessary changes due to COVID-19, it's still magical and worth it! The staff have always been the best part of the dining experience and they're amazing as always! The menu is reduced but still delicious and the pianist plays on! I would strongly encourage the community continue to support this historic gem through the pandemic until the whimsical brunch can return!!!
Disappointed on the food quality and presentation. Service overall was good.
The service was excellent thanks to our server Claudia. The manager of Ellyngton's Izzy was a wonderful gentleman to share stories with.
The hostess was very friendly and helpful. It was our server first day, but given that she did a great job on a busy Father’s Day weekend.
Our 50th anniversary celebration ended with breakfast at Ellyngton's at the Brown Palace. The staff was very attentive and seated us in a special area and offered some complimentary to celebrate.
The greeters were very pleasant and personable. We had a lovely table, excellent service and the menu was perfect for brunch. Meals were delicious. We really enjoyed the piano playing and the validated valet parking.
Will definitely be back.
Have not been for a few years but the quality of the Brown Place shines through as well as the service
We loved it. Such a neat location. Food was well done.
This was disappointing. The food was sub par and very expensive.
Our breakfast was good, it was very quiet in there being a mid-week meeting. Our server was professional but hovered for the bill when we were in the midst of a work conversation. I realize they were probably closing and he needed to check out but it was only 10:30 a.m. and on the website it makes it sound like they are open for breakfast and lunch so I wasn't expecting them to close in between. It will not affect my decision to go there again though, I love the formality of the Brown Palace and the weekend brunch at Ellyngton's is amazing!
