Elliott's on Linden
For Chef/Owner Mark Elliott, that principle is to serve the best and freshest locally produced agrarian products to his guests. It's a principle that was formed in Mark's childhood, and as a young apprentice chef in Southeastern England. Mark would further develop a deep connection to the green grocer, the baker, the fish monger, the butcher, the cheesemaker. Daily sourcing for the kitchens provisions was a way of life.
From this restaurant's first days, Chef Elliott has forged relationships with regional farmers to obtain their produce, livestock and artisan products when they are at the peak of freshness.
Today, Chef Elliott continues to serve guests cuisine crafted from the fresh ingredients that the area's farmers have to offer. It's a principle we live with every plate we serve.
Elliott’s is a great little restaurant with great ambiance
Delicious! Always a favorite destination in Pinehurst.
After enjoying a wonderful experience at Elliot's at Linden just a few short weeks ago, and so much so we even bought a gift certificate for a family relative, we invited friends from Chapel Hill to join us for a return Sunday evening. We were disappointed by our return visit. When we entered the establishment at 6p on Sunday, they were erasing the entree remaining special (blackened tuna). When we asked about other options our waitress told us they were out of entree specials, even their salmon offering. They did have mussels added to the choices, but they weren't local. When we expressed surprise we were told that the restaurant was so busy over the last several days that they simply weren't able to keep up. So, maybe we should have left, but our friends had driven down 1.5 hrs. and we had such a great experience previously we went with it and ordered loin of lamb and beef short ribs. Fat on the short ribs outstripped the meat, and the undercooked carrots that replaced the kale that was unavailable made for an ordinary and unsatisfying meal. Our friend ordered he loin of lamb and wasn't very thrilled with his meal, though he didn't explain why. So I think the uneven experience will lead us to alternative future dining paths.
Think we must have had an off night.. just wasn’t as good as I remember in the past.
My friend and I went to Elliott's on Linden to celebrate our birthdays (both big milestones!). We traveled from Raleigh to celebrate in Pinehurst for the weekend, and chose EOL for our birthday dinner. While the food was excellent with very nice wine offerings as well, and the restaurant has a very cool vibe (farm to table), I rated Elliott's on Linden a 4 for the following reasons: we were seated at a table near the front door and hostess stand. We thought of asking for a different table, however the restaurant appeared to be very small and this looked like the only table available at the time. We were not aware that there is another room off to the side that's not visible when you walk in, and thus we should have asked to be moved. The consequence of this table is that it was a very cold evening, and every time the door opened, cold air rushed in and the door slammed hard/loud, very distracting. Also, the hostess frequently opened a closet door right next to our table that had a bright light, and she rarely closed the door all the way, so we had to close it ourselves to keep the light in the closet from shining in our face. We enjoyed our meals very much, but the birthday celebration was not the best experience we had hoped for. I would rate the service as average. Having said all this, I would like to return sometime as the menu had some very interesting dishes I would love to try (I had the salmon, and my friend had the NY strip, both excellent). I highly recommend they get rid of that table (or move it!), or make other appropriate adjustments, so that guests can enjoy a better experience. On a positive note, we appreciated the option of a complimentary dessert or champagne at the end of the meal for our birthdays.
We had a wonderful dinner here and fabulous service!
It was our first time in Pinehurst and first time at this restaurant but we will definitely go back next time we are in town.
I had a reservation long before the date of dining. When we arrived, we were seated in the bar area right where all the wait staff enters and exits the kitchen. I immediately requested another table after seeing many two tops available in the regular dining room. This request was denied, stating there were other reservations. Yea, well, were were they? We sat down and were promptly given our menus. About minute later, another couple came in and were being seated in the bar area, too. They complained to the hostess and were PROMPTLY seated in the main dining area! Needless to say, I was aghast at this! I complained to our server who offered a mediocre excuse saying she should have done that. The service was ok, food was good, but the way the reservations are handled was absolutely terrible. Also, the bar area was so noisy that my wife and I had to repeat ourselves to be heard. It was NOT a good experience. This is not the first time I’ve experienced a less than adequate dinner at Elliot’s. The last time was absurd, with a waitress that forgot what the specials were and a host of other issues. Despite complaints, we saw she was still there...poor patrons! We will not be back. It flat out does NOT deserve the ratings it receives. The food was good, but not deserving of more than 3 stars. We had to ask for bread plates. Salad was skimpy. Drinks took mare than 8 minutes to reach the table. Noisy. Overpriced.
Very fine dining experience, excellent cuisine and very good service.
Second time there. Not as good as the first time, but overall good. Somewhat loud.
Celebrated my husband's and son's birthdays this past Saturday. As always, the food was just perfectly delicious! Waiter was very knowledgeable about food AND wine. It got quite hot off and on as the heater would start up but other than that, no complaints. The food at Elliot' s is consistently fabulous!!
The food and service were wonderful. Our server, Sarah Grace could not have been more helpful or knowledgeable. Our dishes were beautifully presented and prepared to perfection
Food was excellent and server was excellent but all items (drinks, apps and entrees) were very slow coming out... the restaurant was busy but no more than any other Friday night.. no real complaints, just being honest.
Wonderful, FABULOUS. Food was some of the best cuisine we have had while in North Carolina. We were seated as requested, the service was excellent and the wine selection was perfect. Not to be missed.
Exceptional food and wine-pairings! Chef Elliott’s blending of flavors to create unique dishes is absolutely on point! Dishes are plated beautifully, fully capturing the essence of each element. The ambiance served our occasion - one year anniversary - perfectly! The waitstaff were very knowledgeable and attentive and eager to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience.
Each time I dine at this restaurant, I am never disappointed. Wonderful food, great service, excellent drinks.
It was our anniversary, the waiter was excellent, the food was ok! However we had the worst table ever even with a reservation. We were right by the most busiest walking pathway in the restaurant! Every-time a waiter walks by or anyone goes to the bathroom passes by our table, it cause a lot of air flow and it’s very very distracting and hard to enjoy your meal. Very disappointed. However the waiter was very nice, most likely he knew that table is the worst in the restaurant hence he was so so attentive.
Haven’t been to Elliott’s in years. Food and experience were fantastic. It was very noisy.
We had a party of six and the waitress was very attentive, the food was excellent, and the wine was served at the perfect temperature. What more can one ask for? We have never had a bad experience here. This is one of the tier restaurants in the Sandhills area.
Elliot never disappoints. He has such a creative cuisine. He is an artist. Pricey but worth it for special occasions. We just dined there for Christmas Eve and had a wonderful experience as always. Thank you Elliot!
Absolutely fantastic service and food. I’ve been highly impressed with everything I’ve ever ordered here.
Meh. Loud and way overpriced for what the food was.
By far our favorite place to dine in Pinehurst! Daniel and his team do an outstanding job and the food is delicious! Do yourself a favor and done here!
Very nice overall. Menu choices were eclectic and original. Food tasted great and service outstanding.
I notified the staff through my reservation that one member of the group had hearing problems. We were seated in a quiet corner and the waitress positioned herself right next to the person so there was never an issue of not being able to hear. The food was excellent, if slightly salty, the service was excellent an all together it was a great evening highly recommend will visit again when in the area
I haven’t been here in a few years , before I was impressed, but tonight was disappointing. It used to be better than what we experienced tonight. The service was very friendly but could use some refreshing of basic bussing of tables. Timing of drinks was off as well. Mostly, the caliber of the food presented was what was most disappointing. Calamari was greasy, biscuits were dry, food wasn’t seasoned properly, bland/boring and not worthy of fine dining; just okay. They really shouldn’t present you with the dessert options, that was just 3 sad looking blobs on plates. It would have sounded better just on paper. We opted for a scoop of ice cream which was icey and not the luxurious creamy consistency one would expect from homemade ice cream. Then we were presented with a chocolate sauce which wasn’t properly prepared as you could still crunch the sandy sugar crystals that were not fully dissolved. Even if the sugar had been fully dissolved, it was just eh, ok. As I stated before when we first came to the area we were pleasantly surprised with Elliot’s, not anymore. They can do better. Come on Pinehurst, demand better for fine dining!
Perfect choice, generous portions, great flavor, friendly staff
Elliott's is capable of fine dining. Unfortunately on Thanksgiving as most other holidays you get half the quality at twice the price. Menu v limited if you don't eat pork and shellfish. Wine list not bad but overpriced.
This was our second year dining at Thanksgiving and enjoying the special menu at Elliott's. The gourmet food was prepared to our expectations and the service was excellent. We consider ourselves to be "foodies" so are not easy to please. We enjoyed every course served by our server who did a great job anticipating our needs. This meal was thoughtfully and creatively prepared. Thank you Elliott's management and staff for making our holiday meal so special---a second time!
Hadn't been to Elliott's in a few years -- before they remodeled -- because my last dining experience there was good but not great. Dishes were inconsistent; nothing bad but some only fair while others were great. Service was also so-so in the past. My visit this time (night before Thanksgiving) was outstanding in every way. Excellent, well-trained, attentive service, and absolutely every item my friends and I ate -- apps, salad, entrees -- was delicious, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. One exception: our New York strip steaks were ordered medium-rare and were more medium than rare. But this is a quibble. The interior since the remodel is really beautiful and comfortable; it feels good to be in that space. I will definitely be returning to Elliott's sooner than I did the last time!
We had a server in training which is the only reason the service was less than excellent.
We dined with a party of 5 who had very diverse tastes Everyone found something they loved. Mine was like a very upscale Chicken and Waffle. Yum! Will have to have that again soon
First time after moving to the area. Some really nice casual places to eat but we had heard Elliott’s was special. It truly was. Interesting menu choices but not so adventurous that everyone couldn’t find something great to eat. Had the Duck poutine, shrimp and grits, and smoke trout as appetizers. All excellent. For mains we had Mahi Mahi (a special), “Overnight” braised short ribs and the burger (comes with pulled pork, bacon, slaw and onion rings - over the top good). Large portions and all were good to great. We’ll make this a regular stop along with Chapman’s and the Ironwood Grill.
Just a great place. We visit Pinehurst once a year and always go here.
Worst $100 meal for one i ever had in my travels. And ate it on a placemat at that. I would not recommend this restaurant to any.
Excellent food and service to be enjoyed with bar and stroll thru the fine art.
Had not eaten there in a few years as the last two times were not satisfactory especially for the price. Decided it try it again and it was excellent.
Great experience for a dinner with out of town friends. Accommodated our request to sit outside. Fired up the heaters which perfectly took care of the chill. Excellent service, including server newly being trained. Jackson and Addison were terrific. Food was also terrific. Salmon was outstanding. Perfect meal for all!
Food and service was First Class... Will definitely be back!!!
Elliott's on Linden is one of our favorite places to eat in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area. They have a great menu that changes with the seasons and is very different from other places. The service is always great and the atmosphere is inviting.
