Oh so good, yet again. Some folk seem to have had a bad experience, but every time we go the staff seems to outdo itself. Ben was our server, and he was terrific. We had the Bass, Salmon, Steak Frites, and pork chops. All of us commented on the quality of the food and the service.
Drinks are reasonable priced and delicious, food is good, especially the Trout.
I am not sure about the reviewers giving 1-star, but our party of 4 had a great time with great food and excellent service. For appetizers we had the caprese pizza, Beet & goat cheese, pimento steak biscuits, and lettuce wraps. Entrees were Atlantic salmon, Steak "frites", Quinoa stir-fry with salmon, and the leg of lamb. All the dishes were excellent; and everyone commented on their quality of presentation, and taste! I had the lamb, and it was to perfection. Not everyone is a fan of lamb, especially slow roasted rather than grilled, but it was great. I substituted fries for the mashed potato, and it turned out delicious as a bed for the lamb.
Our waiter was attentive without being overly attentive, nor did he leave us wondering where he had gone.
We brought a small birthday cake, which was sliced and served by our waiter who was enthusiastic even though we did not order their desserts. They were most gracious!
We finished with coffee all around. Everyone was happy!
The restaurant had great reviews so we decided to try it. The service was absolutely horrible. We waited two hours for our food! Our waiter brought appetizers, which were by far the best part of the meal. After talking to the manager, she was able to get us our food, which was mediocre. She said she would comp the meal but didn't. Overall, I would not recommend this place. The atmosphere is nice and the live music was the only thing that kept us.
I want to start off by saying that I work in the Culinary Industry and this was probably one of my WORST experiences at a restaurant. We came in New Years Eve for dinner. We sat down and waited about 10 minutes before anyone came and welcomed us and took our order. Our original waiter was also the bartender, which was not going to work. The bartender told us they were short staffed and you could tell. Their was 6 people at my table and he started off by taking our orders with out writing anything down. I had to tell him to get a pen and paper. We also ordered drinks and they all came out at different times. At one point, we had to grab another waitress around us to check on our drinks. My mother went and found the general manager and asked for our waiter to be changed because having the bartender as the waiter was not working. So we received a new waitress and she really did try her best to make us happy. Our food took about 1.5 hours to come out and it wasn't even hot. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was awful. My parents ordered the steak and fries and the fries were extremely soggy and cold. We complained and our waitress brought out new ones which were hot but still soggy. Overall this was a terrible pick for our New Years Eve dinner. From my personal experience working in the Culinary Industry, if you end up being short staffed on one of your busiest nights of the year, turn people away who do not have a reservation or better yet just stay closed if you are that short staffed. This restaurant not only had terrible service but the food was bad too.
New Year's Eve night so we knew it would be a little crazy. Mike the server was great and made it a special night. The food was good - except for the meat. Both were over cooked and no flavor. I would try again because of the rest of the meal, surroundings, and Mike- thanks on a busy night.

Food was great. I wish there was more of it on the plate for the price. Cozy ambiance. I would suggest picking this restaurant only if you are not in a hurry or have a lot to talk about because the service was SLOW. Friendly and polite, but SLOW.
The waitress first spilled a whole glass of ice water on the table and just took napkins to cover up the wetness. They were out of hot tea-she said their truck didn't come in. The food was average and it was very cool and drafty-never took my coat off!
We had been at the Music City Bowl Game all day and were tired and cold, and found Ellendale's by doing a GMap search, and we were easily able to book a table through the OpenTable app. We showed up there at 7:30 pm, and were pleased to find a quiet atmosphere and a warm fake fire next to our table. The service was just a bit slow, but we didn't mind, as we were so happy to be warm and to get away from all the crowds. The food was really good, and our server was very friendly and accommodating.
Absolutely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered the shrimp and grits with sea bass & grilled corn. Sea bass was VERY small, thus overdone. The grits were ice cold, as were the shrimp on top. The grits were one big blob of mush, with to much cold cheese mixed in. The waiter said the restaurant is under temporary management and she was busy, so he couldn't take off the meal from my bill! Removed a salad instead. While this was all happening, a pregnant woman walked past us toward the ladies room. Next thing we heard was someone screaming for help. She had fallen through the floor going into the restroom! They had a leaking ceiling, which dripped onto the floor, thus causing "rot". An ambulance came and took her away. Needless to say, I'm betting this palace will be closed and hopefully not reopened soon.
Service was disappointing slow. One of my guests requested a second glass of wine with his entree but it did not arrive until we finished the meal. My sea bass was over-cooked. Prior experience here was much better. Will give it another chance.
I truly enjoyed this restaurant. First time there, and I wanted to take my mother and aunts to somewhere nice since they came in town for the holidays. Beautiful decor, friendly staff, and beautifully-presented food (which was equally matched in flavor). Will definitely go there again.
I went here for Thanksgiving Dinner, and it was pretty disappointing that the only turkey on the buffet line was a few handfuls of shredded turkey in an aluminum foil serving dish. The same was offered for the stuffing and other side items. It was as if Thanksgiving was an afterthought. It was not even decorated all that well for Thanksgiving either.
The food quality was acceptable, but nothing stood out as being extraordinary. Service was pretty good though. There were no tablecloths on the bare wooden tables. Everything lacked any holiday sparkle. On a scale of zero to ten, everything considered, I give this place just five stars for an adequate, but ordinary dining experience. There is nothing that would keep me away in the future, but certainly nothing that would send me back anytime soon.
Ellendale's is always a super experience, whether for lunch, brunch, dinner or a special occasion. Easter brunch was very good. The selection was extensive and the food temperature was perfect for every dish.
We had a most wonderful server who toured the serving areas with us and explained the selections to us for our family Thanksgiving lunch. There was a great variety of food choices ; there was even a kid friendly serving station. This was our 3rd time to spend Thanksgiving at Ellendale's.
Wonderful overall experience. The wine selection and beer options pleased everyone in our business group. I ordered the quinoa stir fry with salmon, and loved it. Our only complaintis that the room we were in was freezing, which made enjoying our meal difficult.
The restaurant is a beautiful old farmhouse converted into a restaurant. The menu, although limited, offered choices for everyone. The shrimp and grits were delicious as well as the brisket.
They had smaller private dining rooms for private parties and those were lovely and could be fun for a small group.
"No, we don't have white Zinfandel wine." " I don't know if there is garlic in the mashed potatoes." " We don't have baked potatoes." 35 minute wait for our food. However, lamb was delicious...Steak was very good...chicken was very good...One person in our party said salmon was dry, another person said it was OK. Will not return.

Less than what I expected and the waiter should be coached on serving mimosas; serve in a champagne flute..not a red wine glass.
I took a group of friends from out of town before heading out to a Halloween party. They staff was accommodating and friendly. They were able to sit our large group that night in a private area which was perfect. The only issue we had was that 2 of our party members order was made well done on their hamburger instead of medium well. The waiter apologize and took the order back to the cook. The manager came out and apologize for the error for their dinner and informed us that the server did place the order in as medium well and not well done. The order came out in less in 5 minutes and was perfect. However I thought they would have taken something off my friend's order since it was not corrected the first time.
The food was fabulous but for a party of ten the service was substandard. Did not anticipate having to use paper menus (shortage of menus) for a $500+ tab. The waiters forgot a couple of requests and seemed a bit scattered on who ordered what. The food was excellent!

Overall, the music was wonderful, the food and service very good. Unfortunately, the provided utensils are cheap and the decor somewhat shabby. Some management attention to detail would be a good idea.
The Mahi Mahi was delicious. The servers were busy and may have been a bit overloaded. But that will not stop me from going back. The ambiance at Ellendales is always wonderful. The piano player was just awesome as was here beautiful voice. I think her name was Dolores???. She is a keeper as it made the dinner that much more special. Ellendales is always worth the visit when in Nashville
Excellent food stations on the brunch, especially the omelette station. The live music was a treat.
The building itself is a bit beat up. The space varies from several smaller rooms to one large room. The management is spotty. We arrived and had to hunt down someone to seat us (had a reservation). Basically, nobody showed up for five minutes or so while we waited at the front door. Food came out at odd times. Returned for brunch on Sunday, which starts at 10. The stations (e.g. omelette) were not fully set up and operating until about 10:45. Bottom line: Decent location and food. Poorly managed.
Great atmosphere for getting together with friends and enjoying homegrown food NOT out of a can! Had the Lobster and Gouda Mac and Cheese it was fantastic!

Had a great time. Server Ryan was fantastic and a lot of fun. Our group was in town for a convention and our Ellendales experience was a great addition.

The service staff was impressive. She was customer service oriented and explained all the foods in buffet very well.
We stayed at a hotel near the airport the night before going home and made a rez at Ellendale's since it was within walking distance. The reviews on O.T. from the past few weeks were not good at all so we decided to check the place out that afternoon. Along the way we met a gentleman passing by who asked if we were going to Ellendale's. When we said yes he said "good luck".
We happened to meet Julie, the owner/chef, outside and had a good conversation with her about the place and the fact she once lived where we do now. Back at the hotel I suggested to my wife that we find another restaurant as the bad reviews were still lingering in my mind. She said no, let's keep the reservation, so I trusted her intuition.
Perhaps we were the exception but we had a good meal (especially if you like southern cooking), the service was good and we enjoyed ourselves. A young couple provided some live music by singing and playing the piano. Maybe Ellendale's was getting a bad rap but not for us.
Eating at Ellendale's was a great experience for me and my client. I will recommend Ellendale's to my friends, clients and colleagues.
We honestly did not have a very good experience. I ordered Sea Bass and they made trout. So they had to redo my meal and they held my husband's. His chicken arrived dry, the beans lukewarm and mushy. Very disappointing. They did waive his meal cost and 50% of mine as well as offered us free dessert. But we are both eating dairy-free and gluten free and could not accept any of the desserts. Though I appreciated all their efforts to "make it right" the efforts took too long and we left disappointed.
We came in for a casual dining experience. After about 10 minutes our server came to greet us. He was out with our drinks pretty fast. Then our appetizers came out fairly quickly. But he couldn't seem to remember us , as we were in a tiny room to the side. Our food took a very long time, almost 40 minutes. My water was empty for almost 20 minutes. For the price of the items on the menu, you really don't get much food. $12 for 3 shrimp. The food was ok but definitely not worth the prices. I would definitely not recommend it to friends.
Service terrible. Waited an hour for food and had to ask before it was delivered.
