Excellent waitstaff, food, and presentation. Only thing lacking is the ambience. Dining room is very non-descript.
We were very pleased with every aspect of our brunch experience.
Our waiter, Andy, took excellent care of us at lunch yesterday - enjoyed our food immensely
Great setting in a historic building. Service was perfect and friendly. We both had the tasting menu with wine. The food was creative and outstanding. The wine pairings were spot on. The chef even made a visit to our table to see how our experience was. Super place. Will definitely be going back. Outstanding !!
I’ve been to Ella’s twice now, and had excellent food both times. The beef tenderloin was great on our last visit. The cocktail I ordered was lackluster, but the beer and wine lists are good. The only drawback is that the atmosphere is SO quiet. Sometimes this may be what you want, but it can also feel dead and that may put a damper on the date vibe or special occasion vibe.
We enjoyed our brunch at Ella's. The atmosphere is always nice. The seating arrangement makes it easy to have a conversation. The dining room is usually quiet - no loud blaring music. I really appreciate that.
The food was good, but I would like to see some other options for brunch. Many of the choices are very similar. The service was a little below par, the server came very close to spilling hot water on a guest at our table, and also had a few other bumpy dish episodes. Also, it took a long time to get our food, and it was really not that busy.
Wonderful food and great service! The staff went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied.
Seared scallops were excellent and couscous croquette was delicious. The bite I had of the beef tenderloin will send me back to try that as well.
Quiet ambience in elegant historic setting. Food was delicious and the service was great. I really enjoyed the crab and shrimp cakes. We were celebrating my mother's 86th birthday and appreciated the convenient parking and handicap accessible entrance through the basement.
The caprese appetizer was enough to share. iT WAS SUPER !
The duck was also a great option
THe service here was just horrible. We were there for 1 Hour before any food showed up. But the worst part was our server!! He was rude and condescending. A real jerk. It’s a shame because the place has potential but this guy ruined our evening.
Good food, good service and value. Cozy restaurant
Was just perfect.
Our third time there. Very good and consistently high quality food and service. Nice atmosphere. We will definitely return.
Second time to restaurant. Lunch food and value were good when I last came. We had dinner this time and while the atmosphere has a rustic elegance about it - love that -, the food was just so-so. Price was too high for the quality of food. If I go back, it will be for lunch only. btw: Service was very good - Friendly and prompt.
Our second time here. Food very good and also good for conversation as not too loud. Highly recommended!
A great dining experience! The starters were a little bit late, other than that everything was delightful! Would recommend to anyone willing to take the chance.
We were visiting Fayetteville for a football game and chose Ella's based on reviews. Pretty disappointing experience. The service was incredibly slow and we had to repeatedly flag down servers to even get bread for the table. The food was not up to par for the price. They were very busy but for a restaurant of this caliber and price point that is no excuse. The setting in a historic hotel on the Arkansas campus is noteworthy; however the service and food were not.
Expensive but delicious! $130 for two people, appetizer, dessert, one glass of wine, and tip. But it was so so good. But only for an event like a 5 year anniversary like ours. We wouldn't go just for a normal date. Dress nice!
Ella's was wonderful. Great service and great food!
A little expensive but great place for our anniversary.
We are from out of town and our local friends suggested your restaurant as a good place for brunch. Great suggestion! And we could actually hear each other.
Wonderful ambience and great food. The server was very knowledgeable.
While there were surprisingly few people at Ella's, the food was top notch and the service was great. It's a nice choice for a special occasion or date night when you want to be able to chat with your table/date.
We went to Ella's to celebrate our anniversary. We had been there for weekend Breakfast a number of times but decided to try the dinner selection. We started with the shrimp cakes appetizer, similar to crab cakes, which were outstanding. Both our entrees were steaks, mine the rib eye and my wife's the tenderloin. Both our steaks were cooked to perfection and my wife liked the mashed potatoes that came with hers. Mine came with grilled carrots, asparagus, and beets. If you like beets, they were probably pretty good. I don't like beets but still ate about half of them. The bread that came with the meal was very good. We did not do dessert but had dessert coffees, hers Irish and mine Nutty Irish. The coffee at Ella's is the best tasting and smoothest we have ever experienced which is the primary reason we do breakfast there. But the highlight of the meal was the service. Ben, our waiter, was funny, knowledgeable, and knew when to be at the table and when not to. The hostess, I can't remember her name, was also very "Johnny on the spot" when Ben was engaged with other customers to make sure our drinks were filled and dishes cleared when necessary. Also, the remodeling job of the old women's dormitory turned into a hotel is incredibly well done and appointed making it a very comfortable place to come. Ella's is an elegant restaurant that would be an excellent choice for a celebration or simply a high end dinner. Ella's is pricey but compared to other high end restaurants, it is actually a value.
Exceptional food, great service and wonderful ambiance. Will definitely return for another dinner date.
We had not been to Ella's in awhile for brunch. Our meal was not their best effort. The chocolate chip pancakes were very thin and maybe 10 chocolate chips. Both our husbands had been looking forward to them and both were disappointed. My other friend had shrimp and grits. The grits were under cooked and crunchy. I had asked for no tomatoes on my Benedict but they were there.
Experimented with the five course prix-fixe and wine pairing. The staff and chief provided a wonderful evening with interesting flavors and excellent wine pairing.
The food was very good and the service was great. We would definitely dine at Ella's again.
Visited after graduation ceremony. Thought it would be jammed and it was not. A calm, quiet refined place to eat after such an occasion. A fire in the laundry interrupted our lunch, and I feel we were adequately comped. Food was good. It is a small adult restaurant in a historic hotel. No place for young children who cannot sit still.
Despite my reservation on Open Table, Ella's called me to say they had no available reservations and would put me on a waiting list. Very disappointing.
The Inn at Carnall Hall is charming, but Ella's was a disappointment. Our dinner for four was lackluster; my husband's fish entree was so salty it was inedible, and he is not salt averse. We agreed that while we will return to stay at the Inn, Ella's is not worth the cost, at least, until there is a major change in management. What a shame, to allow such a lovely venue to be both expensive and mediocre at the same time.
Attentive service but not intrusive. Extremely good entrees and salads. Drinks are always perfect.
I ordered the fish (had another name, but looked and tasted like smoked salmon) over a biscuit with poached eggs and holandaise. The holandaise was unremarkable and cold. The biscuit was stale. The eggs were hard boiled, no liquid in the middle. The kale was undercooked for something like this, and there was little of it. It was supposed to have fried green tomatoes, which is one of the reason I ordered it. Instead, I got hot house mealy (as they are out of season) red tomatoes. The truffle hash browns were clearly something out of the freezer (not fresh) and then done in truffle oil (really, it was too subtle).
Ella's is the peak of fine dining in Fayetteville, AR. One of my friends remarked that the pre-dinner cocktails made her feel like she was in MadMen. This place has the sort of quiet class that allows the focus to drift towards conversation and the food. Here, one never feels rushed, and people do not speed as if they are perpetually late. Everyone can sit and allow the food to simmer on their palates with gentle reminders that the wait staff is there to help you have the best experience. Hands down, Ella's is the best fine-eatery in Fayetteville.
Our mom's weekend dinner was a treat!
Excellent food and service right on U of A campus!
Loved the place - great service and great food - spent our 38th anniversary here and glad we did.
I have often been disappointed by Ella's in the past so was delighted this time with the quality of food, the service, and the ambiance. It is hard to find a nice restaurant that is quiet enough for good conversation, and that's why we chose Ella's. We would have been happier without the live music, but it wasn't too loud. We will be back.
I visited for Sunday brunch and the food was wonderful. Our seating was somewhat scrunched as our chairs were hitting the seats behind us. The amount of time to get our food ran about 30 minutes so don't be in a rush. The dining room was only about 50% full. I will visit again because of the food and hope the service is a bit more timely.
The food was generally above average, everything was a tiny bit too salty though. The drink menu is one of the worst I've been in Fayetteville... at least as far as quality and price go. The mix drink was not good. Great place for a nice meal but not if you enjoy a drink with your food.
