Ella's was a delight! The service was excellent and the food scrumptious! I had a tuna sashimi appetizer with freshly grated (at the table) wasabi. Others had the pate and lobster mac and cheese, all delicious. The mini-donut dessert with chocolate sauce--yummy!
Highly recommend this restaurant!
always fabulous, always fresh, always my favorite.
food is a 10
service is a 10
love the specials
Always a great meal. Owners came to the table and really impressed our clients. Had the tuna tacos which were awesome as usual. Then had the blue fin tuna--fresh caught right here off the coast. YUM
Hands down top restaurant in Rhode Island and in all of my travels one of my most favorite places to eat. The owners Jeanie and James are hands on, personable and have such great talents when it comes to making an incredible meal. I look forward to traveling to Rhode Island just so I can eat at Ella's!
Lovely relaxed setting during a busy Saturday evening. We sat at the bar to relax a bit before our reservations. Got promptly seated and made dinner choices based on a helpful server. Chef came to greet us midway thru our meal. Wonderful food choices and presentations.
We had a delicious, if pricey, meal at Ella's. The only downside to our visit was being left at the door to wait for a long time for our reservation. We were seated about 20-25 minutes after the scheduled reservation, I assume to stagger seatings for the waitstaff and kitchen. The service was professional and friendly.
We loved the variety of freshly prepared delights and the small plate options.
Ella's as always is an amazing dining experience. The food s exceptional . The wait staff is very friendly and professional. The food is perfect every time. It is our favorite .
Awesome! The very best!! My new favorite restaurant!! Unbelievable flavors!!
Food is amazing and the menu is huge! The drinks service is slow, but otherwise it's a great experience.
Wish we could say something positive about our experience but it really was such a complete miss, it's hard to reconcile with all the other reviews we read. First, we arrived to an abandoned hostess station--no one seemed to be on duty even though the restaurant was filled with patrons. By the time we got anyone's attention we were waved off to the bar area because there was a private party. Mind you, no signage or indication to anyone who walked in (which included us) that a private event was occurring. Regardless, we persevered and went to the bar area. No one acknowledged us or directed us to a table or anything. We finally decided to leave, only to be thanked for coming by a chef, who had absolutely no clue what had transpired. Sad to say this was a big let down and clear that front and back of house are NOT communicating.
Impressive creative cuisine, Becky wonderful good humoresque professional!
Delicious! We were greeted promptly upon arrival and our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu choices and helpful choosing wine to compliment our dinner selection. After dinner, we walked to downtown area which was a short 10ish minute walk down hill.
Ella's is fine dining at its best. This caliber of experience isn't easily found. It is unequivocally as good as it gets in the south county of Rhode Island, and some would say in the entire state. This year, there was only one restaurant that I would rank higher and that one is in London. So go and enjoy. The prices are reasonable for fine dining, and they do not assault you with loud obnoxious music and roudy drunk patrons like so many other places do.
Ella's is surperb. We were there for the first time. We will always go back to Ella's when in RI. DELICIOUS FOOD!!
Excellent and creative menu, well prepared and graciously served. Top flight big city quality in an out of the way beach community.
Excellent! The husband and wife chef team really know what they are doing. If you are a fan of creative and expertly prepared dishes, you will love it. If, on the other hand, you think it is pretentious to hand grate wasabi root from Half Moon Bay at tableside while explaining that this restaurant is the only establishment on the East coast to have it, then take yourself to a bar and order a burger, because this place is not designed for you. This food is slightly pretentious, but skillfully and lovingly prepared. The flavors were wonderful. I found myself trying to get every last morsel and drop of sauce.
Had been dying to try Ella's since seeing it featured on Phantom Gourmet. It did not disappoint! Locally sourced ingredients, creatively prepared and five star service. Our server Alanna was knowledgeable and attentive. The owner-chef came out to check on us. My miso salmon over black rice was amazing. My husband enjoyed the scallop special and we shared the banana cream tart. Simply delicious. A little pricey- but well worth every penny. I highly recommend!
The food was up to billing, it was exquisite. The service was somewhat under-par for a $100/per head meal ( we were asked for our order before we were asked if we would like a drink) but I understand that not everyone can be on top of their game all the time.
Had heard much about this very fine restaurant in downtown Westerly and had wanted to try it for some time. Finally had the opportunity and it was well worth the wait and the visit. This was a mother /daughter outing on what we thought would be a slow Tuesday night but the place was jumping. We all had something different and tasted each other's dishes. They were all outstanding. We had two of the daily specials and one regular entree among us. There was a halibut dish with lobster and gnocchi that was to die for, a scallop dish with corn/risotto that was heavenly and finally the filet mignon with lobster mac and cheese accompaniment. Everything was so fresh, so perfectly prepared and locally sourced. I was particularly impressed with my scallops which were the sweetest I had ever had. There is a Moroccan lamb dish on he menu which I am anxious to try. This mother/daughter trio will definitely be going back to Ella's and it can't come soon enough.
Great meal we shared the mussels as an appetizer. For the main course I had the scallops and my wife had the Halibut .
This is an outstanding restaurant with a creative chef who not only provides a fabulous variety of appetizers and salads, amazing, entrees and tasty desserts but also takes the time to visit with her guests and makes everyone feel welcome. A far better meal than anything served in the Ocean House. A must try!!!!
I was never disappoints! The food is fresh creative and fantastic! Chef Genie is an evil genius! The desserts are housemaid as well and are not to be missed… Especially the "Just Chocolate"!
As usual Ella's food and service was outstanding. There isn't a better restaurant in Rhode Island. We dine at Ellas's as often as possible and continue to be totally satisfied with every aspect of the experience.
My friends from out of town (NYC and Houston) really enjoyed the food. Our waitress was fabulous and very attentive. The food was great! I had the halibut special and it was delicious -- perfectly prepared! The owner's husband was also very helpful with the wines for our group. All around it was a fabulous gourmand evening. Thank you to Ella's and staff!
Delicious food and cocktails! We had an excellent meal at Ella's while visiting the Westerly area on vacation. Convenient parking in the back of the restaurant. Service was friendly and attentive. We took our 2 children there (ages 10 and 8), and went early. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Definitely on the high-end side, but worth the expense.
Great food. Great service. Very nice place. We will return for another great dining experience.
Great overall dining experience. Relaxing dining room with excellent service. Waiters and waitresses go above and beyond. The food presentation is amazing and the food was outstanding - from appetizers to dessert. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious. The veal chop was the special of the night and was so flavorful. Will definitely dine there again during our next visit to Rhode Island. Recommend it to all who appreciate fine dining and quality food.
Hadn't been there in a while and forgot how great the food is! Everything is so fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
This is an exclusive restaurant with a creative kitchen, though the expense involved with the menu and wine list (relative to my resources) calls for an exceptional level of service and attention from staff, both of which were seriously lacking. I had made OT reservations weeks before and a table was not ready when we arrived. It was a busy Saturday, and we were directed to the bar, and this seemed acceptable until we were totally ignored by the bar staff as they served others. When we were eventually seated the service was sporadic and uneven, as we had to correct or redirect the server about several mistakes. At this price point I was expecting an experience comparable to our last visit. My impression was that it was more than just an "off night".
our 6th visit to Ella's, all of them deliciously worthwhile...
This place is awesome. the food is just amazing. Good wine.. On the pricey side but more than worth it. I'm French and the food just reminded me home. Definitively one of the best restaurant i went to in the US and even in France.
The food is amazing. The portions are unnecessarily small. The gnocci was amazing.
I wish I could eat here regularly. But I would have to eat a cheeseburger before I went.
I understand French food generally has smaller portions, but it's in RI and Americans eat there.
17 pieces for gnocci could easily be 40 pieces. The half sized gnocci is literally less than 10 pieces.
If the portions were 50-100% larger this might be my favorite restaurant.
Great food start to finish. Owner chef stops T every table to chat nice touch to personalize the dining experience. We would go back in a heartbeat
once again Ella's came through with great food and accommodating service. The duck and tuna were both terrific and the blueberry tart was a must. We will return !
Ella has a creative menu. The food is delicious. The mussels were tasty.
Unfortunately Ella's offers little ambiance.
What a find. A real Gem. Well worth the drive from Providence. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere which is conducive for conversation. Attentive but not intrusive wait staff. Food was superb.
Ella's was a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. Service was efficient and personable, menu selections were creative with a Asian and French flair and the food was superb. The scallops with crabmeat on top and black rice and an incredible sauce were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Try the gingerbread ice cream sandwich for dessert, the flavor and presentation are amazing. One of the best dining experiences I have had. It's definitely worth the trip.
A fantastic meal! Such interesting menu choices, adequate portions, fresh ingredients and to top it all off, dessert was incredible. Save room for the Blueberry cobbler!
