We have been coming to Ella's since they opened. They just get better and better. Although other top restaurants in Rhode Island do traditional cuisines very well, no one does more creative yet very accessible dishes like Ella's. For example, one of the dishes we had was panko crusted Kobie beef deep fried in duck fat over green tea noodles with bacon dashi. It was simply outstanding and nothing like anything I have had elsewhere in the US or Japan. Chef Roland and her outstanding staff are a real Rhode Island treasure.

Mussels were great as a starter. Unfortunately that's where the meal peaked. Entrees took over an hour to get to our table. No apologies from the waiter. In addition we had ordered a side that they failed to bring out. We had the Pig & Fig dish which lacked flavor and was disappointing.

Excellent food, excellent service. Other than being a bit loud for a high end restaurant, it was a wonderful evening.

The food at Ella's is excellent. Indeed, the halibut I had for dinner compared if not exceeded the quality and taste at any restaurant in Washington DC where I eat at fine restaurants on a bi-weekly basis. The atmosphere is passable; the restaurant needs a major face lift. I would have rated the restaurant "outstanding" but for the service. It took approximately 45 minutes to get seated notwithstanding our reservation and served drinks. In fact, the waiter began explaining the menu to us twice before stopping and leaving to attend another table. The restaurant seemed to be understaffed; it may have been overwhelmed from the recent favorable reviews. In sum, the food is fantastic (albeit pricey and moderate portions). If the restaurant can manage the demand (and spruce it up), it will achieve a five star rating consistently.

Truly wonderful dining experience. Sophisticated cuisine, exceptionally well prepared and presented. However, nearly every dish has one to may ingredients. Doesn't stop us from dining here regularly. Second only to The Oyster House in Mystic.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Ella's. Our server was pleasant, thoughtful and professional. Our meal consisted of 5 appetizers and the dessert special. Every dish was delicious. Would recommend highly and Will return when next in the area.

Rivals any NYC farm to table restaurant. Creative, fresh, inspired dishes. An epicurean delight from start to finish. Butter poached lobster, squid ink pasta with English peas, all divine. Not to be missed in South County Rhode Island.

Our party of 3 was amazed and gratified at the quality, variety and presentation of locally sourced food at Ella's, the new upscale hotspot in Westerly, R.I! Each course was more beautiful and delicious than the last. Everything from the burrata cheese to the pastry and ice cream was homemade. When the chef came out to inquire about our experience in her extraordinary restaurant, we were only too happy to tell her that the quality was over and above everything else in the area. As locals who dine out frequently, we have finally found a welcoming place with gourmet food and no pretentiousness whatsoever. We will return to Ella's whenever we can!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit on July 24. The food here really unique and the setting is beautiful. The only concern is the noise level. Perhaps some more room between tables and sound proofing is necessary. Otherwise, this is a gem of a place.

Ella's chef is inspired and dedicated. I went to dinner there this past weekend, and was overjoyed with the menu as well as the food that ended up on my plate. Each of the four of us got different entrees and appetizers and each of us was equally impressed. I got tuna tar tar as an appetizer while my mother got the foie gras. The portions were perfect and the presentation beautiful, and I have never tasted tuna tartar as luscious. For dinner, I got the duck, which was phenomenal, my dad got scallops perfectly seared, my mom got the filet de maison (perfectly medium- warm and red), and my husband got the crab cake, which was truly just yummy, well seasoned lump crab meat. Go there!

Ella's has excellent food. Both sophisticated like salmon with forbidden black rice and escarole as well as homey like Mamma's fried chicken. No restaurant in the area holds a candle to it, including those of the nearby Relais & Chateaux hotels. Plus the decor is elegant and modern. I've never had something that was not excellent.

I'm thankful that Ella's exists--the dining options in this part of the country continue to be very limited and most restaurants do not attempt any more than conventional basics. For me, a Californian used to the cultural diversity and ingredient bounty of California, New England dining can be , quite frankly, uninspired and unadventurous. The chef-owner at Ella's not only sources high-quality (and sometimes unusual, at least for this area) ingredients but knows how to use them in imaginative ways. Have eaten here a few times and have not been disappointed. The wine mark-up is on the high side but I'll forgive that for the quality of the food. And should you prefer to bring your own bottle, corkage is reasonable and waived if you purchase a bottle from the list.. Service seems to have hit its stride without any of the awkwardness of a couple of years ago. Highly recommended, a pleasure to eat here.

We had a marvelous time. Our table was just private enough to feel that we had the place all to ourselves. The meal, wine. service, and ambiance was just what we like for special occasions like our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Our waiter was great, we had Mike, he was very pleasant and informative about the wine list and menu. My wife had the risotto with scallops, and I the hand cut pasta with shrimp, with a nice bacon and cream sauce. Very good, and we paired our meals with a nice bottle of white burgundy, perfect. Oh and lest I forget we started with the sweet and spicy calamari, also excellent and the wine worked well with that too. If you have a special occasion to celebrate I would recommend that you give Ella's a try.

The owners have another restaurant in Punta Gorda Florida, we will search it out this winter.

Once again our dinner at Ella's was fabulous! The sticky pork buns were delicious, as was the salad special with fresh figs and bleu cheese. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. I had the duck and my husband had a sea scallop rissotto special. Both entrees were perfectly cooked. I always recommend this restaurant to friends.

Perfect dining experience! First time visit, and we were seated right away. Great staff, attentive but not oppressive. Food was perfectly prepared and presented. We expect to make it a regular stop for fine dining. We can't figure out the recent bad reviews. Nothing could have been better for us.

My husband and I had dinner here on a Saturday night. We were looking forward to a relaxed enjoyable evening. When I made the reservation, I sent a comment along that stated that we would prefer to sit at the bar, but I was making the reservation in case the bar wasn't available. When we arrived, we found two seats at the bar and informed the bartender of our reservation. The maitre d' came right over to scold us for making a reservation and then deciding to sit at the bar. I mentioned my comment when I made the reservation, but he just went on repeating how inconvenient this was for the restaurant and other customers. We stayed at the bar and ordered dinner. This was also a mistake. The bar tender was so busy and rushed that he could barely repeat the specials to us. The entire evening was spent watching him rush around trying to keep up with things while he basically "tossed" our dinner onto the bar when he had a minute.

The food was good, but not terribly as memorable as the poor service or the lack of ambiance. I wouldn't recommend the coconut cake.

Just a fantastic place. Great menu, amazing food, attentive service...best place in Westerly to go for a special meal. When you want an experience, you need to dine at Ella's, It truly is more than just food. Also, when dining here, but sure to have a complete meal from appetizers through dessert. One must taste all courses.

There are many fine restaurants in the Westerly area, but Ella's is truly in a different class. Of course, like everything that is the best, it is expensive, but well worth it, in terms of value.

Truly one of the few fine dining restaurants in the area. Short entree list - that's a good thing because everything is fresh and prepared to perfection. Only complaint, wish the on-line menu was kept current. There were a lot of changes on the actual menu at the restaurant.

We were a party of 6 for a birthday celebration. The service was outstanding. The waiter was friendly, helpful and engaging throughout the evening. The host and the chef also came to talk to us. The food was a very flavorful blend of French and Asian cuisine and we especially enjoyed the black forbidden rice and the scallops. The drinks were creative and well-made.The wine list was a good choice of several different types suitable for the meals they served. Finally the desserts were quite good - the cheesecake is worth trying and the chocolate mousse was delicious. This is a wonderful local restaurant and one we plan to come back to again and again.
