We were there for a graduation celebration. The cooking is very creative. The Bone Marrow and the Crispy Pork Belly were very creatively cooked , and they both tasted delicious. Pan Roasted King Salmon and Seared Scallops are both good as well. The only disappointing dish we ordered was the pork chop, which was dry.
The wait staff were very attentive and overall it's a great experience.
Birthday dinner for both my husband and stepson. House made gin and tonic was awesome, but a bit light on the gin. Started with delicious endive salad. Glazed pork chop, ribeye steak and salmon entrees were so flavorful, although the ribeye was much fattier than others I've had. Sides of roasted potatoes, summer squash, and cornbread completed the meal. I would pass on the cornbread next time. Wait staff was very attentive, each person wishing them a happy birthday. Lovely evening with "the boys" overall.
Girls night out - shared a few small plates and desserts. Food was amazing!
We dined at Ella for our daughters graduation from UCDavis. The only thing I can say is that the service did NOT match the 5 Star prices.
We came here for a very special celebration, and the dining experience was delightful.
Lobster BLT was outstanding! Service is always cordial and knows the food!
Outstanding service and excellent menu. Very creative courses that exceeded expectations.
Excellent food and service. Wine pour could be bigger especially for price
Lovely decor, perfect for a quiet business lunch. Lovely menu options, very fresh!
Service was not very good.
Delicious food with great service. I’m never disappointed when I dine here
Service is always a little slow to get started but once you get something to get your service going it feels like you're not being rushed.
Very intimate a nice, love the menu!! Great desserts an mock tails. Outside seating available too!!
The bar service and happy hour value was great. Although the dinner menu was ok, the short rib was not that tasty and the dinning tables seemed to close together.
I've been to Ella a couple of times in the past and I do like the food, but there have two major issues I've encountered: there are virtually no vegetarian options, and no gluten free options on the menu and I believe any restaurant nowadays that charges over $50 for a meal should have those options available. Dairy free options were also scarce. However, the main issue I encountered was the service. Yes, the servers are very polite and accommodating, but they stop by your table every 5 minutes to ask you things like; "how do you like your potatoes?", "how do you like your water?", etc. It was extremely annoying because I was trying to enjoy my boyfriend's company and conversation and I couldn't talk without getting interrupted by the waiter every 5 minutes. When we left the restaurant my boyfriend even mentioned that he was relieved to be out of there because the place was as cold as an ice chamber and he couldn't talk to me either. All the times I've been there in the past I realized they kept the temperature extremely cold, which was very uncomfortable.
My wife and I enjoyed the experience at Ella's restaurant from the moment we entered the door. We felt well taken care of and the food service and drink recommendations were excellent. Our experience was well worth the above average cost.
Always enjoy returning to Ella whenever visiting Sacramento. At the heart of every good business is quality customer service and Ella has this down to a science. On top of their excellent service is the quality of their food, outstanding!
Great service and fun Latin American themed menu. Awesome celebration for my mom's birthday.
The service was great. All the staff wished me a happy birthday when I arrived. I had the scallops, which were cooked just right and the sauce on top was very tasty. My husband’s rib eye was a little undercooked for his taste, but it was a large piece of meat. He took some home.
As always, awesome food and great service! The May seafood specials were outstanding.
Ella is always an excellent place for a special meal. Great food, great service, excellent wine list and bar.
The service, particularly before dinner, was unusually slow. We waited at least 20 minutes for our drinks from the bar. We had reservations at 8 and although we were told we’d be notified when our table was ready, we had to go asked the hostess if our table was ready at 8:10. It was ready, but nobody had called us. The food was wonderful, as usual.
Top notch hospitality and amazing food! Wine list is out a sight and cocktail program is just outstanding. It's a Sacramento institution that never rests on it's laurels continuing to reinvent itself and deliver one of the premiere dining experiences in the region.
Start to finish , the service was perfect. And OMG, every bite of food was amazing.
The menu was interesting, and the food was exceptional. Our waiter was helpful and attentive but did not intrude on our evening. I will definitely return.
Special occasion, business or just out for a nice meal this place is perfect! The King Salmon in my salad was delicious!! Melted in my mouth!!
Wait staff were great; custom cocktails very nice; food was ok-to-good (nice presentation), but not in line with price (food seemed a little pricier than warranted). Biggest concern was just too noisy. Mildly irritating we went fairly late & despite there being a number of vacant tables that were larger & in quieter location, we were put in a small table near door.
I am crazy about this restaurant. I have had some of the best meals there ever. It is expensive, so I only eat dinner there perhaps twice a year, after I see a play at CMT three blocks away. Must have a reservation. Unfortunately, I saw the menu with the lamb on line that I was so looking forward to, and when we got to the restaurant on 5/24/18, they had changed the menu. There were a number of Mexico inspired dishes, so I had a fish stew with spice. It is the first time I have eaten anything there that I didn't think was perfect. On a scale from 1 to 10, it was a 7 - it was good but not my usual OMG feeling after eating. I don't think the chef is really good with Latin inspired flavors. Love, love, love the steak tartare and wild mushroom soup. Best mushroom soup ever - wanted to take some home. Would eat that every time I go there. Service is great. Atmosphere and decore are fun, but the place is rather noisy. Seemed we were in the hallway with people rushing by our table every few seconds. Next time will ask to be seated in the back away from the traffic.
We had a great time for our anniversary. Thank you Stewart for making it fun and not stuffy. Food was great! Great cozy table with my beautiful wife of 35 years. Thanks.
Service was very good for a busy night, but the food was a bit disappointing. The last few times dining at Ella’s the food was so, so and for the price expected much better.
Fantastic restaurant for a date....great food, romantic, excellent service. Walking distance from theater.
The Oysters were bad. I work up in the middle of the night so sick.
Other than that the fried chicken is amazing.
There 3 leches dessert was divine.
The meat was dry, the drinks were barely there.
Spectacular food. Foodie spot!
Food presentation and quality was terrific. Service is always stellar. Clients are always impressed.
Everything was wonderful for our Mother’s Day dinner. Everything on the menu was delicious.
Eye-popping expensive for Sacramento! Seriously, ridiculous, how do people afford this?? And the $18 glass of wine was about 1/8th full. Just stupid to be skimping on portions when charging thru the nose! This is NOT NYC or San Fran.
Thanks for such a wonderful evening! We appreciated the attention for our guests celebrating birthdays, the sensational food and service. See you again soon!
Thank you to the entire staff at Ella's for making our 6th Anniversary very special
