Noisy and cold- uninterested waiter- ambiance uninviting, food - lobster carbonara was delicious but overpriced, wouldn’t go back.
Amazing meal!!! Everything was top quality and the service was perfect. One of the best restaurants in Sacramento. Highly recommend.
Best restaurant is Sacramento. I visit here whenever I’m in town from SF.
Everything was fine, ordered drinks and appetizers got our drink took a couple of sips of my whisky and the water boy spilled my drink. He apologized and the waiter came and said she has another one on the way. She brought a fn splash of the same whisky I was having a $35 glass of whisky that was spilled and they couldn’t replace a full glass. Spoiled my night, and the bill was $600. Was my favorite in Sacramento but will never step foot in this fn place.😁
My partner and her friends are huge foodies and Ella's did not disappoint! Our server was great too, very entertaining!
Great food and service. Wonderful more quiet table. Always fabulous!!!
Close but not quite. Pretty good experience. Drinks were good. Steak Tartar and beet salad were awesome. My son’s maple brined pork chop was outstanding and a huge portion. My steak that I ordered rare came mid-rare to medium. Sent it back. Came back perfect. The broccoli rabe was bitter and had a strange flavor. I had scotch for desert and my son had the sorbet trio. Both were excellent. The biggest disappointment was when the bill came and I was charged for 2 steaks. I guess it was an oversight but I hate this type of confrontation at an upscale restaurant like this. The waiter apologized and I still tipped +20% but it left a bad taste in my mouth. We make the trip to Sacramento every 4 weeks for my 9 year old son’s treatment and he has become a serious foodie. We have reservations to the Kitchen on April 8th. I hope things go better next month.
My view was of filthy drapes. The appetizer of octopus was good and the bread and butter was fantastic but the main course of fish was boring.
Just sit at the bar and have drinks.
Don’t sit at a table looking at filthy drapes-makes me wonder how clean the rest of the place is.
Our evening was very nice and exactly what we were looking for. The service was quick and on point (maybe more noticeable for our table than others?). Maybe our attention was Thanks to OpenTable? Either way, it made for a great experience.
The food was lights out and exceeded our expectations entirely. Wine list was great and the bar never disappoints.
I highly recommend Ella and booking a table reservation via OpenTable.
Fantastic Food. Servers seemed a little overwhelmed but still did an excellent job. Highly recommended
Excellent service. Food was great.
Overall nice evening with good food. Food seemed to take a long time to come out from the kitchen between first course and soups and main course but once it came they were all good.
This was a birthday party and it was festive, so pretty, delicious food, and our waiter was outstanding. He made our birthday gal feel very special!
Attentive service, attractive surroundings, delicious food - we loved it! This will definitely become one of our favourite places to dine. They were able to accommodate both my gluten-free (coeliac) diet and my husband’s vegetarian one without any problem.
The only slight lack was in the dessert choices for me as a coeliac: both choices were fruit-based (sorbet etc) - no chocolate or creamy butterscotch ones. Oh for a salted caramel gluten-free dessert! But the entrees were so outstanding that they can be forgiven for the GF dessert choices. The sorbet was zingy and delicious in itself. I just wanted something more than sorbet. But if you’re not gluten-free, wow the desserts looked tempting.
Overall, really first class! We will definitely be back often.
Service was extremely slow and my entree was lukewarm, almost cold.
This is a great place for a date, or dinner before a show at the Sacramento Convention Center Theater (Philharmonic). Valet parking for $5.
The four of us had a delicious meal with great service.
Ella’s was a great experience. I felt waited on hand and foot, in a good way. I ordered the pork chops, octopus, and oysters variety (MA, WA, CA). The food was outstanding. Wait staff was exceptional — seemed waiters were choreographed to bring out the next thing just before you were craving it. The only negative was how tables were grouped together— my spot seemed packed into a cramped space and so it did get a little loud at times. But that is easy to overlook, given the other positives. This is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars. I would highly recommend eating there!
Very nice restaurant. Valet service was not apparent when we arrived on Monday. We waited in the doorway for someone as no one was there to seat us. My husband had to take a chair to sit while we waited.
After we were seated the service was good. Our waiter was helpful with our wine order and food.
The food was good and well presented.
There were six of us and we had gone there for our daughter's birthday. The food, service and experience were all excellent. We were all more than pleased with the appetizers, or entree's and dessert. We just really enjoyed the evening.
If it had not been for the awkward beginning I would have given Ella all "outstandings". The octopus appetizer was fascinating and I would order again. My salmon entree was interesting and delicious. Unfortunately my reservation did not show up on Ella's computer. Fortunately I had my cell with the reservation confirmation from Open Table. The greet staff was totally flustered and made us feel like we were interlopers. Had to sit in the bar while she decided what to do with us.
For all special occasions or gatherings, if I really want to show the group a classy experience, Ella is perfect for it.
Great spot. Great food. Out for dinner with a coworker. Table next to us was a family with two young kids who danced around more than they sat. They were replaced by 4 millenials out for a wild time. Either would have been fine but the tables were a little two close to ignore your neighbors. Other tables may be more private, but this may not be the place for a quiet romantic dinner.
Nice finding experience. Took about 30 min to get the bottle of wine we ordered to the table. Only complaint! Excellent oysters and beet salad. Recommend ribeye over strip.
We enjoyed our dinner at Ella's very much. The food was great and our waitress was wonderful.
The service was impeccable, but the food was mediocre.
The Cesar salad wasn't on dinner but I still got it because Our waitress asked the chefs if they had some left from happy hour. Total plus😊
Birthday party for 5 adults. We had great service and wasn’t rushed between courses. Thanks
We had a great evening at Ella, and the food was incredibly delicious as always. It was personally my fourth time there, and every experience has been a treat.
Food was not great
Beef cheeks and bone marrow were delicious. Salmon was ok, salmon sauce was great. Steak was not good, too tough and tasteless.
Always an excellent meal at Ella. We love it there and can always find something great to eat. Had the beef cheeks and polenta which was great, the burrata salad was wonderful. Scallops were ok seemed like they sat a little long, the new york steak was wonderful. The Morning Sundae was a great way to cap the evening. A note for folks, the tables are a bit small so hard to share apps.
Service was great as usual, will be back in the future.
Overall a pleasant evening
Valentine’s Day dinner service. Food outstanding, timing of the courses was a bit uneven. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Special Valentine’s Day dinner. It was excellent.
Ella was our choice for Valentine’s Day lunch . The food was delicious , very creative and the presentation was beautiful ! The service was very efficient ! We will definitely return , as Ella is now our favorite fine dining spot !
Valentine's dinner special occasion. Excellent service, excellent food. The total package for ambiance and romance. We especially enjoyed the relaxed pace. Over a period of 2h, we enjoyed five courses and an amazing bottle of champagne. It was a little pricy but totally worth it. Thank you to the cooks and waiters. The cherry on the top of the cake was the parking valet. So convenient on chilly night in a sexy dress!
Ella’s was everything I had envisioned it would be.. I loved it from the moment I walked in. I felt like Cinderella at the ball.. it’s worth the drive. You will love the atmosphere, everything was simply perfect!!!
This is one of our favorite restaurants but when we went on Valentine's Day we came away sorely disappointed.
For a meal that cost $400 all in, it was completely underwhelming. The dishes were tiny.
The amuse bouche was tasty, but it took 25 minutes to arrive.
The scallop salad was miniscule, with two half-ounce scallops. $135 dinner and it comes with less than $2 of scallops in the scallop course.
The duck came out rare, which can be fine but I was shocked they didn't ask how we'd like it prepared. The flavors couldn't stand up to the "huckleberry gastrique" so the dish was effectively just rare duck in a tart berry sauce.
The strip steak entree was very small, and not nearly as good as the regular strip steak entree they have offered lately. Meat was definitely choice, not prime. Again, we were not asked how we'd like it prepared.
Dessert was excellent.
The first wine in the supplemental wine pairing was good, but the other three were all one-dimensional and tasted heavily of alcohol and acid. They tasted like (and probably were) 10 dollar bottles.
We won't be going back to Ella for any special-occasion menus in the future.
Maybe we set our expectations to high and to put this bluntly the whole evening sucked. Basically felt like I was taken for $200. Food and service very poor. Not really sure what others get out of this place. Outdated decor too boot. Never going back unless bribed and even then with suspicion.
