Ella Dining Room and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Have never had anything here that was not well-prepared and well-presented; staff is cordial without being over-friendly, and knowledgeable about both food and drink. If they don't know the answer to a question, they go ask (instead of try to bs their way through it).
Our experience at Ella this past Saturday was wonderful. We have been many times before but Saturday was a special occasion and we chose Ella to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We could not have been happier! Food is oustanding- especially celebrating their cheese month in November. The service is always professional and friendly. I highly recommend Ella, and we will continue to come back as well!
Went here for my husband’s birthday. Seated for 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. Servers were nice but service was very slow. I had the pork chop, which was huge but not much flavor and over cooked. My husband had the lamb, which was just “okay.” We’ve had much better for half the price at many other places.
Since it was our first time at Ella, all we knew was that the food was excellent and that it was a bit pricy. However, considering both the quality of the cuisine and the service, it was not at all overpriced. My husband and I shared bruschetta, mushroom soup, and a wonderful chocolate ganache dessert. My entree, the lamb shank, was excellent. My husband's pork chop was actually a three-inch thick pork roast, also excellent. Each course was packed with unusual flavors and both prepared and presented beautifully. The wines by the glass list was quite extensive and varied. We intend to return soon!
We indulged in the small plates and shared the scallops entree which was perfectly cooked and so delicious. Everything was amazing. The burrata tomato salad was my favorite and the others were all really great too. We had the marrow bones, bruschetta, gnocchi, baked Brie, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something. Service was top notch and the valet parking seamless. Such a lovely evening - Ella remains a top favorite!
Very pleasant restaurant. The lighting is warm and there is a cozy feeling despite the large room and the lack of tablecloths. The food was quite good and the service matched the food. Prices were high compare to similar restaurants. They feed you rather quickly and therefore, you don't feel like you should have spent upward of $150 for 2 for a somewhat quick dinner. If I were to return, I would tell them to not rush each plate.
This was our first time dinning at Ella. Read the online reviews, made reservations through Open Table for an anniversary dinner. Valet Parking was great and the only way to go. The food and service were excellent. The restaurant was packed out on a Monday night. Had a great experience, will return.
Overall, the service was poor. It was slow and they mixed up our order.
Although, the servers were friendly and apologized about he error.
The wines/beverages are significantly overpriced.
As with Selland's other restaurants the food is highly salted.
Sacramento has some much better restaurants.
Ellas is impeccable on quality of food and service. I love the atmosphere and the creative dishes they serve. The service staff is so attentive and I appreciate not being rushed between courses.
We went to Ellas to simply just enjoy a night of good wine and food. It was a lovely evening.
My husband and I love Ella, and all the Selland Family restaurants for that matter! Love eating here and have never been disappointed. Great service and waiters are so professional. I will say we never get great service at the bar—this time a young female bartender who ignored us although she saw us at the two stools at the end of the bar by the hostess station, did not wait on us on her own. My husband had to leave his stool and walk down to the opposite end of the bar and ask her to wait on us, at which point she said she would be down momentarily. We had arrived 20 min before our sinner reservation for this specific purpose so were a little disappointed she couldn’t at least acknowledge us from afar and make her way down. As it was, we got our drink about 3 minutes before we were seated for our dinner reservation. Poor bar service. For October we ate at Ella for steak and pork! Started with a dozen oysters from Pacific Northwest and oh so creamy. Hubby had pork chop as a main and I had the rib eye with cheese sauce over it. I must complement chef on being able to cook my steak well done and keep it so juicy at the same time. Doesn’t seem that hard to me, but few can do it. For dessert we had the chocolate and cream round which was scrumptious! Thank you Ella for a wonderful dinner!
We went to happy hour and the food and service was great. I wanted the pork chop for dinner so I didn’t want to eat too much at happy hour. The service at dinner was great but the pork chop @$35 was terrible. I had a steak knife and had trouble cutting it. They took it away and I settled for the fried chicken. It was so so. Should have gone to KFC. My husband had the 28day aged ribeye @$65. Nothing special. We won’t be back
The food, as usual, was excellent. Service was slow. In fact, we were offered a cup of their daily soup to make up for the delay. The soup, as expected, was tasty. However, between the soup and the requisite bread and butter, I couldn’t eat my meal. So I ended up taking it home for dinner.
Birthday dinner - Food was excellent- seasoned perfectly. The fried chicken was superb! Extensive wine list. The sweetbreads almost as good as those at the Water Boy :) Escargot was great as well...wish they were in the shell though. All in all, a great birthday evening!
