Ella Dining Room and Bar Ratings and Reviews
We patronize Ella fairly often and love the caliber of the staff, food/menu and restaurant decor. I had the rib eye and unfortunately, although I ordered it well done, it was over cooked and difficult to chew. A good chef can cook a steak well done and keep it juicy and tender, and last time we visited, I had the same thing, so not sure what was wrong this time. My husband had the short rib which was very good and the burrata small plate was very tasty. Our main disappointment: my steak and the dessert menu. While we appreciate you trying to offer desserts that are off the beaten path, the dessert we had with cinnamon sugar ice cream and homemade donut (donut was not good) with corn flakes and chocolate milk had way too much going on. The best part was the ice cream. There wasn’t a rich chocolate dessert of any type on the menu and we were very disappointed. This is always a nice option. Lastly, we appreciated the server who kept our water glasses filled but please visit the table slightly less frequently. It can be disruptive if you’re trying to have a quiet dinner.
We went to Ella for the first time for my birthday dinner. I was really impressed by their cocktails and thought the appetizer selection seemed really appealing. We shared the bone marrow, which was fine but didn't really stand out. Similarly, our entrees (salmon and short ribs) were fine but unremarkable. The dessert (sticky toffee pudding) was quite good and an excellent finish to the meal. The best part of the meal was the service, which was superior in all aspects.
I love Ella. Sometimes their food choices are challenging flavors and not for everyone.
The service is amazing, but the place gets so loud when it's busy, the server can only really be heard by 1 person at the table at a time.
Gorgeous food, responsive staff.
DEFINITELY do the $5 valet!!!
I was not asked what occasion or if I had the experience of being at Ella. I was celebrating my 15th anniversary with my company which they spent for the meal. Also, celebrated my 54th birthday on that day of my dinner. The place is beautiful, but the service was below my standard and I am an easy person to get along with. I will say to people that the food was excellent, but set your own expectations on the service.
The food and table service were excellent; however, the evening began with a stern welcome from the hostess. We had 7:30 PM theater tickets at the Crest. I made the reservation on Open Table but called Ella to see if I could get a reservation earlier than 6:15, the earliest one listed. On the phone I was told we might be seated earlier if we arrived before 6:15. We arrived about 5:35 and were told we would be seated "on time." Even though the restaurant was virtually empty and it appeared we could be seated, we went to bar to await call. In view of the many empty tables, my daughter couldn't accept the wait and again approached the hostess. After much discussion and the reasoning intervention of another host, she finally agreed to seat us. Needless to say, at that point I was very annoyed by the unreasonable attitude of the hostess, and struggled to enjoy the restaurant experience. There were many empty tables throughout the dinner up to time we left at 7:20. The bill for the four of us was $445.00, reasonable enough for the dinner, but overshadowed by the initial unwelcoming experience. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback.
It was mine and my wife's date night that doesn't happen often. We decided to put all our chips in and eat at Ella's, highly recommended by many friends and family. My old class mate Ravin is a Chef for the Selland Chain. I went in with high expectations, and they were all fulfilled. Our server Ryan was very familiar with the menu items and ingredients which always makes the experience that much better. Overall, everything was wonderful. My wife and I had a wonderful evening! We will be back for the next seasonal menu.
Must be having a bad night. I have been there before and have always really good food but tonight it was not up to par. My rib eye was tasteless and service was poor. I realize it was Friday during the holidays but we purposely had an early reservation because we were going to a concert. We let our server know and he said no problem. Had dinner, then the server talked us into dessert and promised to get it out, but forgot. We only had about 10 min to ear dessert and I finally got a bus person to run my credit card. Our bill was 330.00 dollars, and our server was tipped on his lack of service. I am a chef and have worked in th e business for 34 years. It will be awhile before I return. I have had better meals at this companies casual dinning restaurant for a lot less money.
This is my favorite of all of the Selland's restaurants, it is fine dining, but the menu is always changing and worth the price. I had the soup and grilled cheese daily special. The tomato soup was the extremely tasty. of course it was more than I could eat so they packed up half my sandwich and the cookie. My only issue is that we were seated right next to another party even though there seemed to be a lot of empty tables the whole time.
At "Ella", you will be able to enjoy very good food, but their prices show that they are awfully impressed with themselves. I get it that one gets that for which one pays, but this place takes that theme quite over the top. I am not convinced that it is reasonable to charge $12 for a good but not excellent quality glass of wine. And my scallops were good, but really, $35 for 3 very nicely done scallops on a bed of rice and cauliflower? I guess it must be art, because I don't understand. Maybe I was eating art that evening.
Food and service great, as usual. However, once again, two people ordered salads as their main course and were served it with the salad course for the other two diners. And, one person received their soup, which was their main course, with the salads. Fortunately, the server caught the error and took the soup away. This always happens. Burratta was amazing. Fried chicken was perfect.
Have never had anything here that was not well-prepared and well-presented; staff is cordial without being over-friendly, and knowledgeable about both food and drink. If they don't know the answer to a question, they go ask (instead of try to bs their way through it).
Our experience at Ella this past Saturday was wonderful. We have been many times before but Saturday was a special occasion and we chose Ella to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We could not have been happier! Food is oustanding- especially celebrating their cheese month in November. The service is always professional and friendly. I highly recommend Ella, and we will continue to come back as well!
Went here for my husband’s birthday. Seated for 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. Servers were nice but service was very slow. I had the pork chop, which was huge but not much flavor and over cooked. My husband had the lamb, which was just “okay.” We’ve had much better for half the price at many other places.
Since it was our first time at Ella, all we knew was that the food was excellent and that it was a bit pricy. However, considering both the quality of the cuisine and the service, it was not at all overpriced. My husband and I shared bruschetta, mushroom soup, and a wonderful chocolate ganache dessert. My entree, the lamb shank, was excellent. My husband's pork chop was actually a three-inch thick pork roast, also excellent. Each course was packed with unusual flavors and both prepared and presented beautifully. The wines by the glass list was quite extensive and varied. We intend to return soon!
We indulged in the small plates and shared the scallops entree which was perfectly cooked and so delicious. Everything was amazing. The burrata tomato salad was my favorite and the others were all really great too. We had the marrow bones, bruschetta, gnocchi, baked Brie, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something. Service was top notch and the valet parking seamless. Such a lovely evening - Ella remains a top favorite!
Very pleasant restaurant. The lighting is warm and there is a cozy feeling despite the large room and the lack of tablecloths. The food was quite good and the service matched the food. Prices were high compare to similar restaurants. They feed you rather quickly and therefore, you don't feel like you should have spent upward of $150 for 2 for a somewhat quick dinner. If I were to return, I would tell them to not rush each plate.
Reagan was amazing! Her knowledge of wine and spirits in addition to her amazing personality made our evening perfect. We drove an hour and a half just to dine here and it was worth every minute of driving. From the liver mousse to the lobster cavatelli to the marrow to the steak to the tartare and that sticky toffee pudding with caramel quinoa, everything was great!
This was our first time dinning at Ella. Read the online reviews, made reservations through Open Table for an anniversary dinner. Valet Parking was great and the only way to go. The food and service were excellent. The restaurant was packed out on a Monday night. Had a great experience, will return.
