Great meal as always. Excellent menu choices no matter what you prefer. We started with the bone marrow (which Ella does better than anyone) and a salad. Entrees of salmon and scallops - both cooked with fantastic flavors. The wine/bar selection was outstanding as well. One of our favorite fine meal locations in Sacramento.
Our server was so kind and the food was great. However, the host seating us was extremely rude. That whole interaction really set a sour tone for our dinner. I’m glad our server was able to make up for the hosts rudeness.
Top shelf from beginning to end. The service was especially excellent. They seated our large party right away and got us out in time for our play at the Community Center. In between the cocktails were delightful, the food beautifully presented and sooo delicious ,from appetizers to dessert. They even had a prix fix menu. It feels like they have thought of everything to present an excellent meal and experience. Bravo,
Absolutely a wonderful experience here!! Service was awesome. The waitresses were prompt to serving us. Really enjoyed our time here and will def return
Highly recommend Ella's. We went on a Wednesday night and it was quite busy with convention attendees. Our server was brand new. She did an excellent job.
I am a big fan of steak tartare but this one was tasteless. The pop-up bread that was served with it though was to die for. The heirloom tomato salad was unusually exceptional with the salmon twist. My husband enjoyed the squash as his side.
And don't miss out on their version of a G & T.
They're pros. Not too stuffy, efficient and respectful. It's comfortable and not overwrought. Like the doggie bag system and loved the integration of the valet services.
Roxanne took good care of us, food never disappoints at Ella.
Ella is the perfect place before every show! They were conscience of time and making sure we weren’t late for the theater. The food was fantastic.
The food and service was exceptionally flawless! No words to describe. Amazing. Will definitely be coming back!
We had the Salmon, the Steak and the scallops. The hazelnut chocolate dessert was superb as well.
Reservation was made to celebrate an anniversary and the hostess and servers paid great attention to why we were there which was a nice touch. The service was great, drink selection was extensive and food was delicious.
The food and service were excellent. All of my guest were impressed and had a great time. It’s unfortunate that the surrounding area will keep me from going to Ella more often.
It is unfortunate that the shutdown caused such a hurt in the restaurant industry and it was obvious that they were trying. Some little things like not verifying if we were done with our plates before attempting to take them was lost in the reopening as well as the unique changing plates we’ve grown to love. The menu was of old favorites but not quite to the level they were. Specifically, the salmon was expensive and over seared (which increased the fishy smell) with a tomato jam on top that detracted from every other flavor. Still a very nice restaurant but can’t wait til they get back into their old groove.
We went to see Hamilton at the Community center Theater and ate here because it was convenient. They had a pre-theatre menu to get us out on time. Their proactive effort to get diners in and out was an amazing idea and relieved our anxiety. We didn’t want to be late for the show. The menu gave us choices and it was delicious. The waiter George’s service was superb. We had him before and requested him again. Gabrielle the host was pleasant on the phone and helped us with parking. Charles the busser was quit attentive. They hire great staff and train them to deliver exceptional customer service.
Great food great experience
The food and ambiance were outstanding. I would definitely love to come back and try some other dishes and cocktails.
We come to Ella’s for lunch before the Broadway Series. Yesterday I had the BLT. I have a suggestion. The sandwich was on Focaccia bread. The luscious juicy tomato made the bread soft and the sandwich fell apart. It should be on toasted sliced sourdough.
Love your valet parking! Gail Johnson
The food is good but does not match up to the quality of their service. Cocktails taste average and are lighter than usual standards.
Its hard to get attn from the bartender even at an empty bar.
We went to Ella to celebrate my partners bday. This was noted on our reservation, I called again to mention and note a dairy allergy and our server even mentioned it when we first sat, but everyone else celebrating a birthday got a candle with their desert and he did not not. It was a tad disappointing. The food was all really good. Our server was new and hadn't tried all the food so was limited in making recommendations but described the items well. I had the Salmon; it was amazing, as was the octopus and the beef tartar. Skip the chocolate hazelnut desert. Massive let down, but they took it off the bill so that was nice. The sorbet was some of the best I have ever had though. It was a tad pricey considering other options in the area for similar quality food. You are definitely paying for location and ambiance. We started out on the patio, which was nice, but it got really windy and cold so we had to move inside. The patio is lovely, if it is nice out. The inside is beautiful but a tad noisy for a date night. We had to yell across the table once we moved inside. I would go back for the white linen cocktail, the tartar and to try more of the food. The creamed corn with mushrooms that comes with the salmon is heavenly. We also tried their sister restaurant recently, sellands I believe it is called, and the food was amazing and much less pricey. I would return to both.
Great food and great atmosphere
Too over the top. Felt really uncomfortable felt sort of suffocated absolutely no privacy and it was really noisey
Everything was great, from the hostess to the server to the bussers and the bar. We had a great anniversary dinner.
We had a very lovely time and are thrilled that Ella has survived COVID and has maintained their amazing staff/quality! Food was terrific, service was lovely and pacing was amazing given the crowd! The only concern was degree of doneness with the pork chop; a bit more time on the grill/oven would have been ideal. Thank you!
Service is excellent. Food is high quality but not the highest. Portions are average and menu is limited. Ambience is nice but pretty noisy especially with the bar being there
The experience was wonderful. Good food and all the employees where great.
Excellent all around
Ella was a nice lunch oasis on the sunny Thursday when we visited. There were seven of us, and we were seated right on time for our reservation. Our server was attentive throughout our lunch, as were her co-workers who made sure our drinks and water glasses were filled or replenished. We ordered appetizers to start off -- 2 dozen oysters and a charcuterie plate consisting of cow, goat, and sheep milk cheeses. The oysters tasted fresh and the cheeses were tasty and flavorful. My favorite was the sheep milk cheese. For entrees, various selections were made including the salmon, lobster rolls, and a burger. While there were no complaints about the salmon or burger, I felt the lobster roll could have been better. It could have had more of the sauce integrated with the meat. Plus, the shrimp that was also included, seemed to overpower the taste of the lobster meat. It was good, but I felt the shrimp added too much "filler" taste. Next time, I'd probably order the salmon or something else.
I am glad we visited Ella, and I would recommend for a team lunch, business meeting (the noise was manageable and not loud at all), or dinner date.
From the moment we entered we felt like cattle in a stockyard. Our table was barely two feet away from the next and we had to lean over the table just to hear each other speak. The small plate and the salads were outstanding but the main dish brought the whole experience to a crashing low. I cannot give enough praise to those who served us but what they were serving was sub par at best.
Great meal with a friend. Pork terrine and the tomahawk steak was very tasty. Excellent waiter service and glad to see Ellas reopen.
