All the dishes were very good, but their take on the lowly Cesar Salad was especially welcome, with half a heart of Romaine, topped with a sassy dressing, some frisée and sprouts, and crowned with white anchovies – made a perfect summer meal.

The hostess refused to sit me and my friend until the third person walked in. He was parking and I wanted to get some wine open and visit with my friend. The table was empty and it's absolutely inexcusable. The hostess of Thursday night should be fired.

I and my friend had a wonderful lunch at Ella. We ate on the patio which was a bit noisy due to construction and light rail. I very much liked the brushetta and the ahi tuna salad.

Lovely Birthday dinner. Everything was perfect from the appetizers to desert. Loved the asparagus especially, and the tenderloin was cooked to perfect pinkness. The sides of Yukon Gold roasted potatoes were addictive. The sobet that was my desert, hit just the right spot. The service was attentive as always, I’m so happy this restaurant weathered the pandemic and has reopened.

Nice place, great ambience. Excellent food. Bar can get a bit loud. Service was not super as our food took inordinately long to come through, and our waiter was not quite helpful with drink choices/recommendations and descriptions of the menu items. All in all, a fairly nice place and experience

Ordered oysters and then bone marrow for appetizer. Oysters were amazing and shucked perfectly. Got the bone marrow, which I had before but my husband had not, and that the main thing I talked up to him about what he was going to experience. There was hardly any marrow at all - I couldn’t believe it. We could barely scrape enough to out the tiniest piece on the crostini. I’ve had it here before, so that’s what I was expecting. My husband had lobster carbonara and one of the pieces of lobster (2 large pieces) was so chewy. My fried chicken just ‘ok’ - again, not how it previously was. Our server was amazing though. I’m not a picky person, so it is rare for me to write a ‘not the best’ review, but it was our anniversary and I told my husband and this would be one the best meals he had. Disappointed.

As always, Ella's staff and food were absolutely top notch! Ingredients tasted fresh and the flavors combined by the chef and his team created a truly delectable dining experience!! Would like the wine to be a little more generous as it fell just shy of the fullest width of the glass. Overall though, anyone interested in a delightful culinary experience (and who is willing pay a little more to appreciate a great chef's talents) should make a point to visit Ella's when in Sacramento.
