Ella Dining Room and Bar
I had the salmon with black eyed peas. it was terrific and perfectly cooked.
Ella's is a very nice place, but overpriced for what it is. Three oysters for $21, REALLY??
The mushroom soup was Ok, but at half a ladle for $12 not extraordinary.
The scallops were quite good in prep, taste and presentation.
Great service and nice environment, but not a good value compared to several other fine dining establishments in downtown Sacramento and I've been to many of them.
Dinner was exceptional
Beautiful setting with great tasting food. Perfect for first dates, valentine's, or anniversaries.
Eaten at Ella many times, this was a disappointment. Valentines Prix Fixe menu. Requested a window, which there were plenty of, they put my wife and I at the most cramped two top in the restaurant, we both felt like we were in tight airline seats, no room at all, my chest was right against the table as was my wife's. Asked the waitress if we could move to one of the many other two tops with actual leg room by the windows and she pointed to the tall communal bar tables. No thanks. Food was great. We did ask for the steak to come medium well and waitress said she would have to ask the chef, we figured that's how we want it we should be able to get it like that. She came back and said he would do it. Steaks came out well done. Cramped table pretty much ruined the dinner, especially since it was over $300 (with only one added drink) for two. At that price I'd at least like to be comfortable, and truthfully I was miserable. I've had much better meals at Ella, but their price point is now fairly high, and for that I'd like, if not a memorable meal, at least one that isn't memorable for the wrong reasons. We don't get out as much as we used to (child, work, et al), and when we do we want to enjoy it, which we did not this outing.
everything was a hit except the duck confit with consumme. wine pairings were fantastic. Server was charming and attentive.
Great meal and wonderful service for valentine celebration. My only complaint would be the lack of intimacy for the price. Lose a few tables to make the event more exclusive
The food was amazing! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We love Ella!
It was the right choice to celebrate our wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day.
First time at Ella but certainly not our last for when we come to Sacto.
The food was delicious as always and the service couldn't have been better. The valet parking makes it so easy to get to as well. Ella is our favorite Sacramento restaurant.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere. Oysters and pearls are incredible. One of our favorite spots.
A truly exceptional dining experience. From hostess to bartenders & servers, everyone was friendly, pricing exemplary service. The food preparation and presentation was top flight. Highly recommend Ella!
Since this is a Selland’s Family restaurant we were expecting a 5 star experience and they came through completely. Every aspect of the experience was superb from the valet parking, the greeting, the service, the beverages, the food. I focus on small things like the attention to the bread that is served. It was excellent by the way. The drink menu and wine list was extensive. The wine list had offerings from throughout the world so there is something for everyone’s preference. Since it is my birthday month we got 50% off any bottle and selected a wonderful French Sauvignon Blanc. David, our Server, was attentive and knowledgeable, congenial and efficient. Water glasses were filled without asking and extraneous plates and silverware were cleared. The food was prepared exactly as requested, arrived quickly, with great presentation. While the appetizer list was tempting we opted to save room for dessert. The ambiance was nice, the seating comfortable. The noise level was what I would expect for a high end restaurant and while we were there mid-week all the tables were full by the time we left. We were very pleased with the experience and recommend Ella’s if you are looking for that special place to enjoy the finest of meals.
Food was outstanding. Appetizers, soups and salads came right away. Had a bit of a wait for the main course but it was totally worth it.
This is our favorite restaurant in Sacramento! The food is amazing every time. Service was slower than usual this time but still amazing food, drinks, environment, and experience.
I was heart broken about my birthday dinner at Ella this past weekend. I used to live in Sacramento and made the trip back from the Bay Area to specifically spend my birthday dinner at Ella with friends and family. I was excited for weeks. Especially since my husband had never been. We had a 6:30pm reservation for Saturday night. I was looking forward to ordering the tomahawk and all the appetizers and sides!!!!! Unfortunately they were sold out of the tomahawk (by 6:30 on a Saturday nights?!?!?!) and the waiter did not inform us until we were ready to order. So disappointment began there.
I will admit that I have super high standards for 5 star dining area service is a majority of that expectation. My uncle captured it best when he said that from the beginning the waiter made us feel as if we were inconvenient and sort of lucky to be served by him. Drinks took at least 30 minutes to refill, so consequently we only ordered two rounds in the three hours we were there which was a bummer. The food, when it finally came out, was excellent. However only half the table was served. 10 minutes later the other half of the table was served except for me. My pasta dish came out ANOTHER 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, as it was my birthday, no one in my party wanted to start eating until I was served so everyone’s food went cold. Oh...and no drink orders were taken. Again.
As we finally finished cold dinner and were ready for plates to be cleared, my order of Brussels sprouts appeared. I was just dint y then. In that first two hours I think we received service from our waiter a maximum of 4 times...4 appearances at our table. I finally asked for the manager.
Jason the manager was very nice and he did make corrections to the bill. However the service never did improve. Our waiter just became snotty and even slower with dessert and coffee. What should have been a fabulous evening was a major letdown.
Tomahawk steak was over cooked. There was no more so we didn’t say anything.
Overall it was good. We enjoyed the food and whisky flight was great. The stuffs are friendly and knowledgeable
Fantastic service and food!
I can only reiterate what has already been said. Beautiful place, lovely staff and exceptional food. Jill is an amazing server. I will now ask for her regularly. There are no negatives here. Love this place!!
They manage to balance warm, friendly service with an elevated cuisine!
Great service and amazing food!
ELLA is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento. Never disappoints.
Great meal and service , best steak I’ve had in quite a while
Maybe because it was a Monday, but Ella was not as it used to be.
The selection is very limited, no specials, and the service was extremely slow.
We wanted to show the best Sacramento has to offer to our out of town guests, but it was just not a successful night.
Maybe next time?.
The kitchen is extremely slow and the food quality and taste has declined dramatically.
Great vibe and definitely high quality food. Worth checking out in Sacramento for a high end experience
Great carbonara and service
Our appetizer was excellent. Drinks at the bar was delicious. The main course was good but a little salty. The only complaint I have is our lady server. She was great when we were her only table. Always coming by to check on us. BUT once our server had a few more tables added to her responsibility she seem over whim. We wanted to have another glass of wine but she never came by the table to check on us for more the 20mins. Wanted to order desserts as well but never got the chance. It was my wife birthday and she wanted to celebrate at Ella’s. It was both our first visit to Ella. I was a little disappointed especially with our service. I did not want to end my wife birthday night as a disappointment so we decided to go to Ruth Chris Steak House for dessert and more wine.
Ella never disappoints. Great food, excellent service. Never feel rushed. The crab Louie special was loaded with crab and delicious. My friend enjoyed her burger and, when asked, served the fries in a separate bowl for us all to enjoy. This is not an inexpensive place to dine, so come prepared, lunch for 3 without alcohol was $90 plus tip.
Met Chef, enjoyed luncheon and Dirty Martini
Enjoyed the ambience, food and service
Food was subpar & way to pricey
Amazing food and service! Stuart was an outstanding server! Beautiful atmosphere. We began with the bone marrow and roasted beet salad and then the Dungeness crab cioppino, the salmon, and the brussel sprouts. Loved the Zuzu's Petals cocktail and the whiskey flight. Great wine and spirits selection as well. Our only complaints were that they ran out of our first choice entree, the short ribs. Also, our table for two was quite small and sandwiched between two other tables. There was no privacy for conversation, and we could hear every word from both tables surrounding us. Also, they validate parking, but not for every garage. We recommend checking ahead to confirm they validate where you park, or doing valet (it is only $7). Overall, I give it 5 stars because the food, drinks, service, and decor were outstanding. It was our first time dining at Ella so we know next time will be even better!
Our waiter David was amazing and made our experience super! It was my best friends celebration and he help the night be extra special. Food was top notch!
It was so sad. I absolutely love Ella and told my out of town aunt to have her birthday dinner there and then we had the worst service ever. So disappointing. A main entree that half the table wanted was all out by like 7pm (so early!) so we had to change our dinner and then it took an hour to get our salads and then another hour for the main course. Absolutely ridiculous. My aunt was very upset.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Sacramento. The food and service is always consistently excellent. This month they featured crab dishes and we enjoyed the crab and avocado with cavier on toast.
