Our waiter provided great suggestions and descriptions of the specials and helped us order our apps, meal and wine. I wish he or other staff would have checked on us more often and they were not that busy

We've eaten here many times and the food was good as usual but the service was off. Entrees came out before we were done with the appetizer. Had to ask the person clearing away the entrees for another glass of wine as the waiter didn't check back with us. An off night. If anything the service tends to be slow whereas tonight it felt rushed.

The food was spectacular. We had the wood fired beef tongue (braised for 24 hours) it was so tender and flavorful! We also had the scallops which were so tasty. The slivered almonds added a nice texture to the dish. Scott our server was so nice and attentive. Thanks for a wonderful night!

The service is just amazingly excellent, and it is high on the list of things I like about Ella. I love the ambiance, and the food is very refined. One of my favorite dishes is the stake tartar with garlic popovers (potato skins) and the salmon dinner. It is very expensive ($250.00 with a big tip for dinner for two with two glasses of wine, a couple of house made tonic waters and one desert). I am always excited to eat at Ella and look forward to eating there again, but I can only afford to go one or twice a year.

Menu is changing, but this time it was not inspiring and almost half of the entrees were different variations of steak. I would like to see culinary expertise at work; steak is not cutting it! Kudos to wine service and overal table service.

Everything was outstanding except for the wine list selections. The wine I intended to order was no longer available. Our server was most generous to let us taste until we found something that worked well with our dinner selections. Best oysters and steak tartare in town.

I think they have a sphere bar and ambience was very good. The service was outstanding except for the last 15 minutes were our server disappeared. But it was very busy. The appetizers I do not feel we're appealing especially based on the small size and cost. My ram I was perfectly cooked but the cut of meat to not reflect a well aged to rebais. He had had very large tough and grossly sections. This is normal was a fresh steak. The presentation of the steak was perfect though. My wife scallops were outstanding except for the small quantity but that is normal was seafood. Last the price and was not outrageous even out on the higher side. But over all the restaurant was good and I would recommend for lunches or for the bar atmosphere. Again outstanding customer service

The meal was exceptional, and it’s a beautiful space. However, the table for 2 was uncomfortably small and cramped. We were seated near a servers’ island and it felt ‘busy’ with a lot of activity around us; it didn’t allow for a relaxed feeling. More like being in a whirlwind. And despite the fact it wasn’t a busy night, it was disappointing to feel rushed to order, rushed through the entire experience. If we return we’ll know to request a more out-of-the way table. Or just have a drink or two and small plate in the bar area.

Ella's is my favorite Sacramento dining go-to and last night's dinner was no exception. The valet parking and proximity to the Community Center makes it a perfect dining location before a show. WE enjoyed the elderflower gimlet while perusing the menu - delicious! Devon provided excellent service and answered all of our dining questions expertly, including suggesting the perfect Gamay to compliment our dinner. We started with the oysters on the half shell (4 from Washington, 4 from Humboldt, 4 from North Carolina - the Washington oysters were the largest and creamiest but the blue tint to the NC oysters was intriguing), followed by the Wood Fired Oysters 'Mornay' (three baked scrumptious oysters with gooey goodness on them). We split the Ella Caesar (love the fried capers and white anchovie) which has a citrusy zip to the dressing. HB had the Crispy Half Fried Chicken with housemade hot sauce. He is a fried chicken aficionado (most notably Smokey Oaks Tavern in Fair Oaks and Cafeteria 15L); ate every piece! I had the Pan Roasted King Salmon - Devon asked how I wanted it done, which I'd never been asked before. We settled on medium and it was perfect, served atop baby artichokes and ricotta dumplings in bowl with a spoon to scoop up the sauces. We also ordered the Crispy Yukon Potatoes since HB's dinner was a la carte; they were scrumptious but perhaps more food than we needed. Danielle (our previous server from another visit) came by with the Gamay suggested by Devon - a 2016 Morgon from Domaine Des Marrans. We finished our wine and ambled over to the Sacramento Philharmonic concert - a perfect evening!

Flash back to the past, the service was excellent. We were impressed that we had three courses and they were spread out over a two hour time frame. The waiter asked us up front if we were needing to make an event after our dinner and if we had a timeline. We did not and so appreciated the fact that each course was served after we had finished the prior one and the plates had been removed. We never felt rushed nor did we feel like we were waiting in between each dish. The food was outstanding. Thank you for making our evening special.

My client ordered the duck plate and was disappointed as it was difficult to actually locate the duck in the dish. I recommend that Ella’s either explain that it’s more like “essence of duck” rather than a duck dish.

I've been here quite a few times and the experience is usually decent. The food is consistently good, as it was good this time as well. The service however is hit and miss, and this time was the worst miss yet.

The server was a complete amateur to say the least. Too many issues to list, but the big ones that stood out were these two: 1) the food took way too long... easily 30 minutes after our salad plates were cleared. There was no mention of this acknowledging how long the food was taking. If you're not going to apologize, fine, but at least acknowledge it. 2) the check was picked up within 60 seconds of me signing it... I even still had my hand on it and he came by and asked to take it. Don't ever pick up the check when your customer is still there, unless of course they are there an extended period of time and you need to go. That was not the case for us... 60 seconds!

On another note, they need to do better space management. The place wasn't at all crowded on a Monday night, and yet they crammed a bunch of tables very close together. I had another couple practically seated with us. For a nice date with my wife this was not good.

Overall, I may or may not be back, but will certainly never bring my wife here for a date again, nor will I continue to recommend this place.
