Ella Dining Room and Bar
food is excellent as well as the service. valet parking only, ambience is so so, but service is outstanding, they explain the food in the menu, suggest good wine pairing.
Had a great meal and great time. Always enjoy Ella experience.
We are long time patrons from The Kitchen to Sellands. We have always enjoyed Ella’s. Valentine’s dinner is suppose to be relaxed and special. Our dinner was neither. We were sat next to a window with a strong draft, we were rushed through our courses (less then an hour for the entire meal!) and then handed a bill for $400. We were told the wine pairings were separate but we can take the bottle of champagne home. We would have preferred to have the pairings and not take the champagne home in a bag. That should have been a choice. Instead $70 was added to our bill. Overall, the service was friendly but clearly in a rush to turn our table. Disappointing experience. Ella’s usually hits the highest marks with us.
The food at Ella Dining Room was very good and the service was also very good. My complaint was the value. My meal with 2 drinks was $107 without tip. I try to be a healthy eater so I tend to migrate away from the meats and go more towards the seafood or vegie type entrées. My one weakness is Steak Tartar and Ella's was very good and worth the $13 price, next I had the mushroom soup which expected to be filled with hearty mushroom but instead is was a purée with a small dab of mascarpone. Flavor was good but the serving was not worth $12. I selected the Scallops for my entrée for $42. Only the Filet was more expensive at $48 but I was surprised that the dish only had three small scallops. Again the taste was very good but I was disappointed in the value of the dish. I would return but I would steer clear of the soup and scallops.
Simply great. Great food, great service. Super tender short ribs. Nice large chunk of filet cooked very nicely. Tastier and relatively less expensive than that big M steakhouse. Good happy hour drinks and small bites too.
We love the food, but noise level and low level of service will keep us away in the future. Despite it just being the two of us and not ordering any appetizers we did not get our entre until over an hour and a half after sitting down--while tables around us were doing much better. Our expectations were high and we were disappointed.
Wonderful service and food as always!!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Attention to detail. Knowledgeable waitstaff. Will be back!
We were celebrating our anniversary with my wife and Ella definitely impressed us. The service was outstanding. Nice contemporary interior with calm music. We have tried three different cocktails and they were top notch. We have order a starter, soup, and two entrees. Everything was amazing besides tenderloin steak. I might be too picky when it comes to steaks but it was over cooked on the outside even though I ordered medium rare. If you factor in everything else it still deserves all 5 stars
Careful if you have a theater reservation! We had an 8:00pm show with a 6:30 dinner reservation. The staff confirmed our show time and said there was no problem accommodating us. Our drinks arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Then it took over 30 minutes to get 6 oysters and a cheese board. At 7:15 we had to ask for our salads to be rushed and continued to maintain we were worried about not having enough time for our entries. By 7:35 we told the staff to cancel our food order because it still wasn’t ready and there was no time to wait longer for food, eat and then walk a city block to the theater. So disappointed.
This was my second visit to Ella's. As with the last time I couldn't have enjoyed it more. Such a lovely dining room they have clean, crisp and well appointed. The flavors were perfectly paired in each dish we tried, we were very pleased with the meal. And the service was delightful. We didn't have to ask for a thing. Looking forward to our next visit.
Ella is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful ambience of elegance. Presentation of food was also exceptional, while flavor was good, it was not outstanding as I had anticipated :(. Based on that I would have to say it is overpriced.
The food was so-so. We expected better for the price. Desserts were very good. Wine by the glass was way over priced for the size of the pour.
Quality food ! Yes, expensive, but worth it! Our waitress was friendly Special cocktails: Manhattan & Gin & Tonic were enjoyable.
Excellent business lunch. Atmosphere is conducive for conversation. Service unobtrusive. All our dishes were fine. With a simple note on the requests section of OpenTable, they had a space waiting on arrival for our member's wheelchair, nothing said.
The service was incredible and the food was prepared perfect. The flavors were so amazing and each dish was carefully thought through. I would definitely come back here and bring friends and family. Great experience
Great dinner. Superior service. One of us had a birthday too. Well done.
What a wonderful evening of celebration! Scott R and Jaden took such great care of us, along with the rest of the Ella waitstaff. The food what absolutely phenomenal and paired with exquisite wine! Thank you!!
We were a party of four, all old friends, with a fondness for fine food and drink. We were pleased from start to finish with our dining experience, and have always placed Ella at the top of dining options.
I love the restaurant and the staff is very professional. Good training
A top restaurant: the seafood plateau was very fresh; scallops and steak were great. Service was expert. Great wine selection. It was a bit too noisy that night because of a large group event that was being hosted in the restaurant (should have been done in a separate floor or room...)
Made an OpenTable reservation for 2 PM. Thankfully we arrived 10 minutes early as we were informed the kitchen closes at 2 and we'd only have access to the late afternoon limited item menu. We would have been able to find something, but were happy to have the whole menu as an option. SO, just beware if you book after 1:45 PM for lunch.
As always, food and service were excellent. Always worth the visit when in Sacramento!
The food and drinks were wonderful, and the staff was excellent!
To start, our waiter was spectacular. He was extremely knowledgeable, well spoken and accommodating. Not only did we enjoy scouring the food and drink menu, but everything was wonderful. The food was well portioned, cooked to perfection and overall we had a blast! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great night out in Sacramento!
First time dining here and overall a very nice experience. Service and ambiance were great. Overall the food was really good, it just seemed like there were a couple little things that could have been better. I would still highly recommend Ella for dinner or cocktails.
My first time dining at Ella and my experience was noting but great! Wait staff was polite, funny and down to earth. From appetizers to dessert, everything was picture perfect.
We enjoyed Dine Downtown Pris Fixe week- a special treat. Beautiful food, lighting, service, hospitality.
The salad was great but the chicken and dessert were disappointing.
Dined during the Dine-Downtown event. 2 adults and 2 teens. The portions were Soooooooo small they didn't even fill up the kids. I had to give the kids what little meat was on my plate to make a dent in their tummies.
Very elegant. Great service; upscale menu; quality food.
Loved our dining experience!!! Perfect place to celebrate my sister’s birthday!
Food was delicious! My blood orange mule was delicious. I ordered a roasted chicken from the Dine Downtown menu and I typically don't like chicken but this one very good. The sticky toffee pudding with buttered popcorn ice cream was to die for. I was afraid it would taste like that terrible buttered popcorn jelly bean but it didn't and was a great compliment to the cake. It's definitely not an everyday place so dress up a little and enjoy a nice evening out.
Went to celebrate a birthday and as usual, it was fantastic!
Went for Restaurant Week. The food was great, but both dessert options (my boyfriend ordered one and I the other) were very lackluster. The texture of the pineapple upside down cake was very dense, and was accompanied by peanut butter cream that didn't pair well. The tart I ordered was good, but the crust felt like the kind you can buy in packages in a grocery store.
The wine list is absolutely fantastic, and if you're looking for a great wine pairing experience, this is the place to go. But I wouldn't recommend getting dessert here.
We've been to Selland's and The Kitchen a few times and have always enjoyed the food/experience. We've wanted to get to Ella for some time, so we decided to celebrate our daughter's birthday there this year. The service was very good. Our waiter was attentive, personable, and recommended good wine. Unfortunately, the rest was underwhelming. The salmon was over done, the rest of the dishes were almost all under seasoned. The butter for the bread was cold, etc. These aren't the worst things ever, but I expected better for fine-ish dining. The whole thing was just meh.
Waitress was excellent. Tables a little too close.
Absolutely love Ella every time I go. I was late for my reservation by ten minutes(totally my fault) and they were still extremely cordial and got us seated about 6 minutes later. It was greatly appreciated. We have had the same server the past few times and he is always wonderful and knowledgeable. Food was fantastic as always. I’m hard to please and Ella never disappoints. We had seasonal Cocktails (blood orange mule 💕) and bone marrow appetizer which we order every time~
It was dine downtown week so I ordered off the preset menu and my friend had the fillet. All if it was delicious~
I highly recommend Ella for pretty much any occasion.
