It was good but a little fussy for my taste.
We have been to EGR several times now and it never ever disappoints! The location is fantastic, the restaurant is classy and elegant, the owner and staff are unbelievably friendly and professional and last but not least, the food is AMAZING!! This is a truly special restaurant and we will always keep going back!!
Especially lovely ambiance and service. Especially creative and wonderful healthy food. A truly unique meal experience. And great value for money too. It's worth traveling from afar to enjoy Elizabeth's Gone Raw. We looove it.
More than a meal, this is an experience. Starting with the cocktails at the bar, where the bartender mixes them with the complexity and care of an alchemist preparing the elixir of youth. Upstairs, the ambiance, decor and feel is that of a time gone by. More than prepared, the food is exquisitely sculpted into the plates and impeccably delivered, one server per guest. With the visual awesomeness matching the exquisite flavors and delicate aromas, and the attention of the host explaining in great detail what went in on each dish, where it was sourced and how was it cooked, the seven courses flowed seamlessly. The suggested wine pairing greatly complemented each dish, but at six servings, plus the pre-dinner cocktail, may have been a tad too much. If you are not driving, go for it! On the whole, this was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend it for special occasions.
I’m a dedicated carnivore so the prospect of an all vegan meal was not exactly what exciting. Wow was I WRONG. Each course was truly delicious and beautifully presented. The chef is truly an artist.
We had a great time. The food was amazing and creative. Plate presentation was beautiful. Service was impeccable , the glasses and silverware were spotless. Overall great experience.
Delicious meal- incredible focus on ensuring every detail is perfect.
Fantastic - great ambiance, delicious courses with stunning presentations. Highly recommend and suggest completing the week's menu option with the wine pairing offered.
This is our second visit to Elizabeth's Gone Raw and everything was again fantastic. This is a vegan restaurant each Friday evening. The ambiance is great. This is a white tablecoth kind of place. The food is the most creative we have ever had (and we have been in vegan restaurants all over the world) and of the best quality. The menu is on line so you can see what they have for each month. The service is perfect. This restaurant is wonderful foodies of all kinds.
Lovely service, beautiful setting, amaaaaazing vegan tasting menu. Very special place!
Amazing creative raw vegan food and impeccable service in a beautiful setting made the entire dining experience magical. Chef Franciso is an incredible artist and culinary visionary. We greatly appreciate Elizabeth sharing her passion and making such a memorable night possible. We look forward to next month's menu! Thank you.
This was our first time at Elizabeth's Gone Raw. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was outstanding--I discovered taste buds I didn't know existed. The menu is seasonal and changes monthly. The chef was able to accommodate a food allergy on the prix fixe menu for the dessert option. We arrived on the early side (6:30pm) for dinner, and the noise level picked up as the evening went on. This is a great location for a high-end, delicious vegan meal or special occasion, and for a dinner you want to savor without rushing. We stayed just over two hours for our meal, but with wine pairings or after-dessert tea, it would be easy to stay much longer. Highly recommended. We can't wait to go back.
April Menu was perfect for spring.
Flavors and textures of each dish, there were 7, were complex, surprising, unique and fitting the new season
Each dish is presented as a work of art and a delightful explanation of the ingredients that make up the chef's creation
Best possible Vegan food on the planet. Worth the cost and if you are in the mood, best with wine pairing.
Elizabeth Gone Raw exceeded our expections. The food and presentation were equisite. And great choices! Who knew an entire meal comprises of raw vegetables and fruita would taste so good and fill you up! Elizabeth and her team were courteous and made us feel at home. It was a very calm and peaceful experience. Look forward to dining there again soon
The atmosphere is wonderful it is set in an 1800 townhouse that is well appointed and the staff are on point with attentiveness and explaining the chef's creations. The food is not only art on the plate it is delicious to taste. Elizabeth is warm and welcoming as she oversees everything in the dining room. This is a high end whole food plant based restaurant that is only open on Friday's. Very worth going to!
A truly outstanding restaurant. Easily one of the best in Washington DC and the best of many vegan restaurants at which we have eaten. Although it is “raw” the extraordinary creativity involved in each of many dishes in the prix fixe menu transforms the food entirely. A unique dining experience.
We were here once before and wanted to come back as the menu changes every month. We really enjoy the unique variety of each menu and can't wait to return again.
Beautiful and beautifully unexpected.
Can’t wait to return!
My wife and I had an amazing date at Elizabeth's Gone Raw. The food was amazing and the customer service was excellent. The experience was the best we've had in the DC area.
I drove from North Carolina and wanted to eat at the very best vegan spot for my birthday. This place is expensive (as most tasting menus are) but it is worth every penny. Tasting menu only. We did the wine pairing. This is a place I hope to go back to every year. The service is incredible, great atmosphere, and I haven't stopped dreaming about the food.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE food
Very Creative chef that makes food not only artistic but yummy
First time at Elizabeth's gone Raw and it was more than just a dinner, it was an education. From the cocktails made with fresh juice/ ingredients (I tried their new "It takes a village"), to the food that was as beautiful as it was delicious and unlike anything I had tasted before. Did not know raw cuisine could be this amazing. I chose the wine pairing which really enhanced the flavors of the meal with natural, organic and unique wines. Staff was attentive but never intrusive and timing was perfect. Elizabeth was delightful and spoke to our table as she did to everyone else. Would definitely recommend and will return.
We had a few bumps in the road during our visit, but the owner was so kind to call and find out exactly what happened and remedy the situation and apologize. It was above and beyond the call of duty. And we will return!
Just wonderful. The entire menu is plant based/vegan friendly even down to their house made soda. Not your everyday restaurant ($$) but perfect for special occasions. Very attentive staff. Every course was timed perfectly. Chef Hernandez really knows how to please!
Had a wonderful birthday dinner. Highlights included a smoked parsnip soup, watermelon tartare and avocado “crab” salad with mushrooms.
This is my second time to Elizabeth's Gone Raw,. I loved it the first time as it was such a nice surprise to taste such wonderful vegetarian dishes, especially since I am not a vegetarian. I was nervous I would be disappointed this time since I knew what to expect and wouldn't be as WOW'd as the first time. Well I was WOW'd once again. The food courses, all seven of them, were spectacular. This time we did the pairing with wines, and the Lady Sommelier was truly awesome in explaining the pairing she had chosen, which all turned out to be perfect. Although it may be a bit expensive - it is really a special place to go - whether your a Vegetarian or not! I only wish it was open more often than just Friday evenings.
The most amazing eating experience in DC. The only thing topping the food and absolutely impeccable service is Elizabeth herself. The most generous and down to earth person you'll ever meet. I left my alpaca scarf at the restaraunt and Elizabeth graciously delivered it to our house! Unheard of! We literally have never had a better dining experience in our lives. These guys make service an art. This isnt your normal experience. It is absolutely unique. With an eclectic menu and gorgeous decor Elizabeth's is beyond 5 stars and we can't wait to visit again.
Exceptional as always. EGR is definitely more than deserving of 5+ stars!
Last night I surprised my love with our first completely vegan raw meal. Being the steak on the bone freak I am, I figured we should try vegan at the best place in the DMV. We found it. It was more than a meal, it was an experience. The service was one of the best I have experienced, and I’ve been to some of the best establishments. The quality of the food was impeccable. Most of the 8 courses were fantastic, one was ok - that was not the fault of the chef, just not my thing.
Before we went there I thought we were going to have to stop at Five Guys on the way home. Not at all. I was completely stuffed and satisfied.
If you are a carnivore and want to try vegan that’s not all tomatoes and onions, go to Elizabeth’s Gone Raw, open Friday’s only.
Located in a Federalist townhouse on L Street, this restaurant welcomes you with an exquisitely sober interior, featuring fine paintings and a peaceful atmosphere. Even the waiters' tones of voice exude a serenity that match the healthy yet inventive menu for which one comes here.
It is a truly gourmet experience, allowing for leisurely conversation with other diners. The plating is refined and the progression of dishes can be a novelty for those of us who don't follow a vegan/vegetarian diet. Perhaps therein lies a bit of my disappointment... I was expecting to be blown away, but I wasn't.
My favorite was the Royal Trumpet ‘Crab’ Avocado Salad. That drizzle of sweet almond oil was utterly delicious. Other than that, I thought the food was too coconut heavy, and that's coming from someone who grew up eating a lot of coconut-based meals.
What an interesting dining experience! A 100% vegan, 100% raw, seven-course meal. It felt special right from the moment we entered the walk-up, when the hostess asked to take our coats. The entry level features a small bar and waiting area, and the dining area is upstairs. The service was impeccable, with the server explaining each course, as well as leaving the tasting menu with us the whole time so we could re-read it as we enjoyed each course. It's absolutely amazing what the chef can do with simple vegetables and nuts! Will definitely be dining here again when I'm looking to shake up my normal routine!
We really enjoyed the entire experience, the staff made us feel special and cared for.
Excellent service. Food presentation was great and awesome taste! Loved the overall experienc!
This was our third visit. If Elizabeth's were open for more than one meal a week (Friday dinners), it would surely be rated among DC's great restaurants. The dining room is beautiful and well-suited to conversation. The service is impeccable - helpful, attentive, polished, and not intrusive.
The fixed-price menu ($80) changes every four weeks. Wines are available by the glass, the bottle, or through a pairing ($60) with the food that amounts to about three glasses. Reportedly the cocktails are yummy, but we didn't try them. If you'd like, ask the bartender for a half-sized cocktail.
The centerpiece is the creative food . Each course was beautifully plated on stunning china. All ingredients are plant-based, and nothing is cooked above 115 degrees. The flavor and color combinations are imaginative, and some items resemble non-vegan fare. (We had an "egg yolk" that oozed yellow when pierced.) Overall we loved 7 of our 8 courses, from the amuse bouche to the chocolate passion fruit cake. Course #7 was faux cheeses, which were nut-based and quite filling.
Our dining companions were out-of-town relatives, one of whom keeps kosher. We had a memorable dining experience and at some point will surely return.
This was a gift from family, so my value review was a bit harsh. However, these type of niche restaurants are not my favorite. The best thing we ate was the beet tartare. I commend the creator for sticking to raw and vegan; however, the taste was nothing special. Some dishes visually were beautiful but the limitations with regards to raw and vegan held dishes back in general. The 'cheese' plate was too heavy and late in the meal progression. I would not pay for the meal and could not recommend it to many people.
I could not have been happier with the whole experience. I wish it was open more than one day a week. Blown away by every course and even went to the downstairs bar for a drink because they looked so amazing. The staff were fantastic and made the experience even more special. Would highly recommend the wine pairing with the meal! And while the portions look small, I left feeling very full!
Big bill, little to eat. I felt like a rabbit grazing from the forest floor. I understand the typical American diet is bad for our health and bad for the environment, but paying $250 for two people for what is basically an extended course of salad (2 glasses of wine)? I felt we were being taken.
Incredible experience. Best Gin cocktail I’ve ever had. Food was sensationally beautiful. I was personally a fan of the ceviche and the sorbet for this months tasting. Although all of the dishes were beautiful.
