Elizabeth's Gone Raw Ratings and Reviews
This experience could convert even the most committed carnivore. How Elizabeth can conjure up so many flavor profiles among a plate of vegetables speaks to her other-worldly culinary craft. We added the wine pairing option to our evening to explore organic wines from around the globe. A perfect night!
This was not just a "meal", this was an experience. We loved this place. We did the Friday night raw vegan tasting and wine pairing. Don't go here for "value", but go here for a phenomenal and fun experience with the most fantastic raw vegan food I have ever had. Every dish was a work of art and scrumptiously delicious. The service was impeccable. You don't have to be vegan to love this place and the food.
We recently decided to become vegan, so this was our first time eating at a restaurant with a raw menu. The experience was wonderful, starting with the delicious cocktails and crunchy kale chips at the bar and ending with dessert. All of the courses were delicious and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the stuffed fig appetizer and the ravioli dish with two kinds of quinoa. The service was perfect - attentive without being intrusive.
The menu changes every month, so I plan to come back again.
I️ want to start off by saying I’m no vegan, but I️ was more than impressed with Elizabeth’s Gone Raw. The food and wine pairing were both excellent. The ambiance was low lit, perfect for a date or special occasion. To top it off the had the best playlist and the music was great! Highly recommend coming here!
I can’t say enough good things about my experience tonight. Dinner was one of the best meals I have ever had. I even bought Kale chips for my plane ride home! Food is amazing and the staff treat you like royalty. If your in town on a Friday you have to try it.
Always amazing, Elizabeth's Gone Raw is tops for vegetarian food in D.C. Attention to every detail, very creative plant-based menu...I've been here about 4 times for special occasions, as my significant other is a vegetarian. I'm an omnivore, and I have never left hungry or disappointed. Always worth it.
Every Friday, Elizabeth's Gone Raw does a multi course raw vegan menu. Even for the non-vegan, it was a dining experience with attention to detail and delicious pairings that would make anyone a vegan. The sommelier was outstanding and would recommend the wine pairing. It was an elegant atmosphere without being fussy.
We were very impressed with the creative food and excellent service and enjoyed easy conversation with our friends (which is now always possible in some restaurants because of loud music). Each course was a beautiful surprise with interesting ingredients. We thought it was a little overpriced, but thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.
My wife and I have eaten in vegetarian restaurants for many years in different parts of the country. Elizabeth's Gone Raw was the best presentation, the largest variety of fruits and vegetables served, the most creative preparations and the flavors were both subtle and outstanding. This is a restaurant to be savored. We had dinner with the wine paring option. The sommelier provided excellent wines that, at once, enhanced the flavor of the foods while remaining unobtrusive with a great taste in their own right. We plan to go back.
The only thing that overshadows the exceptional and creative food at this gorgeous restaurant is the friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable staff who tipped our experience into the realm of unforgettable. As a non-vegetarian/vegan/raw foodie, I'm always impressed when I leave a meal such as this one both inspired and full. Upon entering the stunning period townhouse with its salmon colored walls and elegant gilt fixtures, the tone has been set for a special, enchanted experience. What could be stuffy or pretentious is instead welcoming and inviting-from the smiling hostess to Max, the charming bartender whipping up fresh, inventive cocktails, to the magical, thoughtful wine pairings from Phillip, the equally charming sommelier, to the extraordinary menu served by expertly trained, synchronized wait staff. End to end this was an exercise in elevated, elegant dining which I would highly recommend.
A fantastic experience. Vegan Raw. Super clever. Some dishes "felt" cooked, but were the result of desiccation/ freezing etc techniques. Every dish in the tasting menu was well balanced for flavour and very well presented. Service was outstanding. This was not a cheap meal. But we definitely got what we paid for - wonderful, very labour intensive dishes, that we would not have found anywhere else. Service was also of the highest level. If this were open every day, it would have at least one Michelin star. If not more.
While the setting and ambiance were beautiful. We left here starving. Suggest this only for fun if you have an extra 275$ to spare for a date. Or if you must, have dinner first. The cocktails were delicious, but food courses were bland and minuscule portions. I understand the small portions served at nice restaurants, but theses were microscopic. We left hungrier than my husband and I came. Will not come again.
This restaurant for filled my expectations, as one of the 21 best vegetarian restaurants in the US according to one website!
Moreover the service was absolutely spot on with all of the seven courses in the tasting menu arriving to all 4 guests simultaneously on a regular pace, that was not rushed, so that our meal stretched out for four hour . As a result, when we left, we did not feel stuffed, and as the owner explained in one of her frequent visits to our table to check on us, this approach allows the body to absorb 100% of the nutrients into each course, without being flooded with too much food too quickly .
Our first time at Elizabeth’s Gone Raw was delightful. The meal was one of the best I’ve ever had. The pace of the seven courses, the descriptions of each dish, the perfect wine pairing, and the taste and appearance of the food were fantastic. Not one of the four of us were vegan, but all agreed it was terrific and are looking forward to returning soon.
The decision to dine was strictly due to the reviews and my personal desire to go Vegan.
It was the best decision I could have made for my special birthday as well as an introduction to my secret passion to become Vegan. I was not only totally pleased, but I will dine at least once every other month this year. Please experience this opportunity and let everyone know this restaurant is to be greatly appreciated.
I came here for my wife's birthday. The food was so fresh, and the ingredients were put together with such creativity it was inspiring. I can honestly say it was the best meal I've ever had. Service was excellent as well-- and we had this sparkling Chardonnay that was so amazing. Bill totaled out to be $280 with the wine and tip included. It was expensive but so worth it.
Disappointing. Other reviews have it right - this is a little too cute by half. Lovely idea with sloppy execution. The flavor profiles of most dishes weren't coherent or well-balanced - though the sorbet palate cleanser was very nice. We weren't seated until 45 minutes past our reservation time, with nothing more than a quick sorry.
We had ordered a couple drinks while waiting (... and waiting...), and simply didn't feel like imbibing more with dinner; the quality of service seemed to change notably upon that. Our server was pleasant, but perfunctory.
Had been looking forward to this. Definitely didn't match (non-lofty) expectations. Would not recommend it, especially for the price. There's just too many better options out there for a nice evening.
After 14 years in the DMV, we've finally found a restaurant that truly impressed us in all aspects of the experience. The food was artistry, plain and simple - the creativity of the ingredients, preparation, plating, and presentation were beyond anything I've experienced before outside of a 3 Michellin star establishment. Keep in mind: only vegan ingredients are used, and nothing is "cooked" - the "cheeses," "biscuits," and "bacon" are all crafted using pressing, drying, and other time and effort -heavy techniques. We were amazed and inspired by the outputs they accomplished, given the inputs that Elizabeth's holds itself true to! Wine pairings were innovative and managed to really compliment the food, as well - not always a foregone conclusion elsewhere.
Service was impeccable, and the server and sommelier were willing to interact and build a fun rapport with you over the course of the dinner. None of the snooty posturing you quickly become accustomed to swallowing when dining out in DC... so certainly refreshing from both a food and service standpoint.
Can't wait to return with friends and family to sample another stellar seasonal offering at Eliabeth's Gone Raw.
What an incredible experience! Everything from the first step inside this incredible restaurant was like no other! This is not a heavy or high calorie food. This is healthy, light, high vibrational food. The food is energized by the staff's incredible focus and dedication towards bringing guests one of the highest levels of vibration and quality probably on this planet. This is not about quantity. I have been a raw foodist for 3 years and was in heaven. If you are new to healthful eating I would recommend having a healthy snack before you come. This is about the experience and the food being works of art. The senses are awakened and delighted by the incredibly dynamic flavors. The ambiance and decor are impeccable. From the first step in to the last bite Elizabeth's Gone Raw made my birthday a night to remember!
If your're even considering it, Go! You won't be disappointed. A dinning experience you will talk about for years! Creative flavor combinations that are out of this world! Not only eye catching but palate pleasing! The chef is amazing!
From the first course of compressed watermelon with wasabi, to the corn soup, to the tabouli, to the "scallop" lychee dish, to the beet-strawberry sorbet, to the tagliatelle with squash blossom, to the cherry custard - We can't say enough!!! We did not do the wine pairing but tried the cocktails and they were also delicious!
The service was impeccable and perfect timing between each course, not rushed, but never felt like you were waiting either. Max, our server, presented each plate with a detailed description and excitement that added to our evening. Elizabeth herself was kindly greeting and taking a moment to visit all her guests.
The set tasting menu changes monthly. It is pricey but at the end of the meal we were beyond impressed and plan to return seasonal to see what else they come up with to delight our tastes. Definitely a dinning experience.
The food was surprisingly good. I was prepared with snacks to eat on my way home. I thought raw food could not possibly satisfy my hunger. I was pleasantly full all night. The corn soup was my favorite. The flavors were just right! I would visit again each month to see what delicious meal the chef would create for the new menu. I wish this restaurant was closer to me. I traveled 1.5 hours and would do it again. This was a nice experience. The waiters/waitresses were knowledgeable about the meals and very attentive.
I was very disappointed. I had read a good review, and a good part of my diet is vegetarian and vegan food, although I am not strictly either. I found the flavors in the dishes did not meld together well, as if the chef was trying to put together a lot of 'interesting' flavors but didn't think about the total taste. So, for me, it all fell flat. eg. Why add olive oil and salt to strawberry sorbet, when it tastes better without? The presentation was pretty, but seemed too precious. It left me thinking, 'sometimes all I want is a plate of good food.'
This was an amazing VEGAN fine dining experience. From the initial greeting to the cocktails to the service and the marvelous food, my wife and I were treated like friends attending a dinner party rather than customers at their restaurant. This was a major splurge celebrating my wife's birthday. Worth every penny!!
