When dining vegan, it is rare to find a restaurant that caters to you that is also very upscale, and even offers creative cocktails. I mean, just because you forgo eating animals doesn't mean you don't have the palette for a handmade drink. My dining companion is allergic to cow dairy and was relieved that he didn't have to discuss it with the wait staff. The courses kept coming, one more inventive than the next. I only have one complaint. Here, much effort is put into creating the taste of cheese, cream, fish and meat. The kitchen succeeds, but I actually like the taste of vegetables better. Still, it was a treat, and yes I would go back!
Definitely a Michelin star experience!
Thoroughly enjoyable evening. We highly recommend it. It is a special treat.
It was a delightful evening. The colors and creativity served with every dish.
My husband and I pampered ourselves by dinning at Elizabeth’s Gone Raw for the first time. We are sure to return.
Fabulous plant based tasting menu, beautifully presented. Wonderful service in a lovely location.
Absolutely delicious meal! Every detail was perfect! Such a delicious birthday meal and such excellent service. Everyone, including Elizabeth herself, was attentive and kind. The wine pairings were great, and the kale chips are to die for. Don't hesitate -- book yourself a table!!
What a discovery!! Elizabeth‘s gone raw, most definitely in my top 3 of DC restaurants! #govegan #elizabethsgoneraw #dcist
We really enjoyed every single bite of it!
Absolutely incredible experience! Thank you to the entire staff! It was one of my dreams to visit this restaurant after an interview I heard with Elizabeth and Francisco a couple of years ago. I live in Seattle so wasn't sure how long it would take me to make it to DC for the first time. Fortunately, an important medical conference lured me to DC so I immediately booked my reservation for my husband and I. Plan on coming back next year!!!
I enjoyed the wine pairing with the tasting menu, and my husband ordered maple bourbon old fashioned x 2 (amazing!!). The food looked and tasted like art. The ambiance was romantic, perfect lighting and good music (Dave Brubeck when we arrived). Couldn’t have been better.
From the moment we stepped in the restaurant, they made us feel welcome. Our server was phenomenal and the food was more art than dinner. I'm so happy I chose to spend my anniversary there :)
This place is amazing! From the ambiance to the cuisine, everything was enchanting, delicate, and elegant.
As usual, the cuisine was excellent, and the service was impeccable.
It's pretty amazing what they do Elizabeth's Gone Raw. I must admit I'm a little skeptical of having "fine dining" in the same sentence as "raw" and "vegan." Mind = blown. We will come back again and again. Every dish was inventive and delicious. The cocktails were nice compliments and we appreciated the efforts of the staff to make sure that we had drinks that we were happy with. My compliments to the chef, the owner, and the entire staff!
As the reservation was in my name, the staff seemed to only acknowledge and speak to my
dining companion. Not sure what type of White Privileged Elitism they feel they are entitled
to, but to be completely ignored and disregarded as a human being, dining in their restaurant,
is beyond appalling. I attempted to make eye contact and engage - yet, to no avail.
Very unpleasant experience.
Really interesting tasting menu with many layers of flavors. Excellent dishes both aesthetically and gastronomically delightful with one exception which was the purple potato dessert ....very good cocktails and wine selection. Impeccable service. Second time we have been here.
Some of the best plant based food you’ll ever have. The staff is amazing and they make sure you have a memorable experience.
Amazing food. I will be back soon!
Amazing dining experience! The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was perfect! This is fine dining at it's best. Elizabeth and her staff are attentive and knowledgeable. I have already made my second reservation!
One of best meals in a city of plenty. Healthy, innovative, and inspiring!
AMAZING !!! We had a delicious diner, every dish was full of flavors and taste. Thank you so much !
An amazing dinning experience. This place place deserves a Michelin Star
We love this restaurant and would probably go more often if it was less expensive. We took out of town family and they loved everything from the decor to the food presentation and thought everything was delicious.
Elizabeth's Gone Raw was a 5-star experience all around. I was skeptical (never having been to a raw restaurant before -- Elizabeth's is mostly raw) but the food was amazing. Very cerebral yet delicious and every dish was perfectly balanced. Service was top shelf -- everyone was incredibly nice and eager to help. Atmosphere was perfect: quaint and very elegant. Perfect dining experience. Elizabeth introduced herself and was very pleasant.
Delicious food and drink in a really cool space. A vegan fine dining restaurant isn't easy to come by, so this is a much appreciated place. Just go easy on the drinks (they are small) or you could end spending twice as much as you had planned. Highly recommend Elizabeth's for vegans and non vegans alike!
amazing such a special time the food was exquisite and we were treated like royalty, so glad we did this
My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner. It was incredible. All of the food was amazing and we were beyond satisfied with every course. Definitely worth it for a special evening .
Absolutely awesome evening at EGR. The food, wine, service (thanks Sam!) and ambience are unparalleled. Thanks so much to Dora for the fantastic wine pairings! Thanks to Chef for his innovative, inspirational and delicious cuisine and thanks so much to Elizabeth for her class and conversation and careful attention to detail! I highly recommend EGR to all who want to dine at a restaurant which has something very special in DC.
It was a delightful experience
I love this place!
The food was absolutely fantastic, even better than usual. The service was also excellent—until the end, when if became apparent out main server was ready for us to leave. She brought our check before asking us if we wanted tea or anything else, she didn’t offer her I have us take home the leftover kale chips(this has beed offered in the past) and she said there was no honey for the tea- that took don’t use sweeteners. Really? And yet some of the food you serve is sweet. In any case it was an amazing experience except for that. Hopefully next time will go better.
This was my 2nd time at Elizabeth and it was just as wonderful as the 1st time! The food was flavorful and so pretty. Almost too pretty to eat!
Expensive, although food and service were amazing and totally worth it. Only nit was 20% service fee, which at a place like this can be substantial. Couldn't fully establish if this was the tip, so tipped the server 20% as well, so even more.
One of the best meals. You end up full but not overly so.
The location is worth seeing alone. The food is delicious and imaginative. As a plant-based eater I am used to only having one option on the menu and this was an evening full of things not only that I could eat but also that I enjoyed. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and we also got a chance to chat with Elizabeth about the philosophy behind the menu. I recommend it highly
We had a problem with silverwares, but that is not the point. They fixed when they noticed it.
The biggest problem is that I had a celiac friend over and I asked several times if the food was gluten free. They reassured us it was. Anyways my friend was sick 2 hours after dinner. Obviously we are not sure it was the food but what happened looked like a gluten exposure. Some ingredients like "beer powder" sounds like they might have contained gluten. Again not sure but my friend asked me to avoid go there again with her. I was a little embarassed of what happened.
The service was impeccable. We were first greeted by the bartender upon entering the restaurant. He was so welcoming and made us feel instantly at ease and comfortable. He was also incredibly patient with our drink orders and preferences.
As for the food, all the dishes were quite creative and interesting, showcasing multiple ingredients and techniques. However, there were still a couple of "misses" among the many "hits." This didn't put a damper on the experience though. Would definitely recommend anyone go to sample the spectrum of vegan/raw cuisine, even if they're not vegan (I'm certainly not).
Visited 2 vegan restaurants in the same weekend in DC. Elizabeth’s was by far the most expensive and least satisfying.
The food was really great, and most of it was raw and uncooked. It was eye opening how food could taste great uncooked. The potato and cauliflower cake was the one cooked item. Everything was delicious and looked amazing. We had a 10 month with us and he loved the food too. Allow about 3 hours for the whole meal (tasting menu). The place is not accessible but the staff helped us take the stroller up the two flights of stairs. There is also a bar downstairs where I saw guests who had come in early wait.
I took my wife who is a vegetarian for her birthday and it was simply fabulous. We have no idea how they were able to do some of the things they did without actually cooking anything but we loved every bite.
